Assalamualaikum and “Salam Sejahtera” to everyone!

First of all, on behalf of the Committee, I would like to apologize for the long silence in releasing the promised quarterly MIHA Newsletter. Our last issue was in Q1 of 2012 following which everyone on the 2012/2013 committee as well as the IOHA 2012 Organizing Committee was focusing more than 100% in producing the IOHA 9th International Scientific Conference, not forgetting the celebration of IOHA’s 25th Anniversary, held in September of last year. We’re happy that the conference went smoothly and was well received. To members who managed to attend the international conference on our home ground, I hope you had benefitted well and thank you for your support in MIHA’s programs.

Looking forward, we have a new committee elected for the 2013/2014 term. Thank you to the outgoing committees for their valuable contributions – Yu Mei Huey and Siti Hamimah. Congratulations and a warm welcome to newly elected committee members – Rajesh and Syazwan. Welcome back as well to the re-elected committee members – Noormahani, Norhazlina, Marina Zainal, Rina and Zaiton. I hope everyone has recovered from the IOHA2012 and re-energized to continue our journey towards fulfilling our mission and vision. For 2013/2014, we are exploring new ways in managing our programs and resources. We’re making some changes in the committee’s portfolios, focusing more on new projects and initiatives while at the

same time empowering our MIHA Executives to manage established programs as planned.

To all members, I would like to encourage all of you to contribute in any way you can. We welcome feedback and suggestions for programs and initiatives that you’d like MIHA to work on. Inputs for our newsletters are also very much welcome. We have many new programs in the pipeline i.e. IH Laboratory Assurance Program, Health Effects Classification for Assessors, Chemical Health Risk Assessment Enhancement for Assessors (CHRA Manual 3rd Edition), SME Enhancement Project etc. We’re also looking into partnerships with local and external bodies aimed at bringing in more continuing education programs at intermediate and advanced levels, to enhance our local OSH and IH practitioners. I look forward to seeing more members volunteering in MIHA’s future initiatives. Note: Salam Sejahtera ~ well wishes in Malay

UPM Best Student Award Committee Members for 2012/2013

Year 2012 has been a successful and memorable year for MIHA. Not only did we excel in organizing an international conference, we also successfully completed all of our planned programs for that year.

MIHA started off year 2012 with the first planned Training Program i.e. Guidelines on the Use of PPE against Chemical Hazards Course on the 28th to 29th February 2012. Other training programs for 2012 included Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene Course (17th Apr 2012 to 19th Apr 2012) and Pilot Workshop for Implementing the Industry Code of Practice on Indoor Air Quality 2010 (13th & 14th June 2012). CHRA 3rd Edition Testing Workshop was held on the 3rd to 5th December 2012 with involvement from DOSH. Year 2012 has seen MIHA’s success not only in organizing education programs for members but also MIHA’s active involvements in universities and the public.

The Annual General Meeting for year 2012/2013 was held in March 2012 at Impiana Hotel and Resort, Kuala Lumpur followed by quarterly committee meetings to discuss MIHA’s strategies, initiatives and way forward.
