Join two officials from the Iowa Workforce Development UI division to learn what to expect before and during a hearing with an administrave law judge (ALJ), including prehearing processes, the hearing noce, and appeals before the Employment Appeal Board and beyond. Instructor: Brenda Boten is a benefits bureau chief in the Unemployment Insurance Division of Iowa Workforce Development since 2009. Prior to joining IWD, Brenda was an execuve at a non-profit agency. She has a bachelors degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Emily Chafa is a manager of the Iowa Workforce Development Unemployment Insurance Appeals Bureau. She previously served as an administrave law judge with both IWD and the Iowa Department of Inspecons and Appeals, and as a praccing aorney. Emily earned her J.D. degree from Loyola School of Law in Chicago and is licensed to pracce law in Iowa and Illinois.
