Ella Jose-phine Baker (December 13, 1903 – December 13, 1986) was an African-American civil rights and human rights activist.

She was a largely behind-the-scenes organ-izer whose career spanned over five dec-ades. She worked alongside some of the most famous civil rights leaders of the 20th century, including W. E. B. Du Bois, Thur-good Marshall, A. Philip Randolph, and Martin Luther King, Jr. She also mentored many emerging activists such as Diane Nash, Stokely Carmichael, Rosa Parks, and Bob Moses. She was a critic of profession-alized, charismatic leadership and a pro-moter of grassroots organizing and radical democracy. She has been called "One of the most important African American lead-ers of the twentieth century and perhaps the most influential woman in the civil rights movement."

Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975) was an American-born French dancer, singer, and actress who came to be known in various circles as the "Black Pearl," "Bronze Venus" and even the "Creole Goddess". Born Freda Josephine McDonald in St. Louis, Missouri, Jose-phine Baker became a citizen of France in 1937. She was fluent in both English and French. Baker was the first black woman to star in a major motion picture, Zouzou (1934) or to become a world-famous en-tertainer. Baker refused to perform for segregated audiences in the United States and is noted for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. After a short while, Baker was the most successful American entertainer working in France. Ernest Hemingway called her "the most sensational woman anyone ever saw." Her adopted son Jean-Claude Baker describes his mother as a bisexual, having had relationships with men and women. Baker was found lying peace-fully in her bed surrounded by newspa-pers with glowing reviews of her per-formance. She was in a coma after suffer-ing a cerebral hemorrhage. Janet Mock (born March 10, 1983) is an American writer, transgender rights activist, author and the former staff editor of People magazine's website. Mock was born Charles Mock in Honolulu, Hawaii, and grew up in Hawaii and Oakland, Cali-fornia. She is of African-American and Hawaiian ancestry. At age 16, she was a sex worker. She was the first person in her family to go to college. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Merchandis-ing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Master of Arts in Journalism from New York University. She under-went sex reassignment surgery in Thai-land at age 18 in the middle of her first year in college. She came out publicly as a trans woman in a 2011 Marie Claire article, but took issue with how the author misgendered her by stating she was born and raised as a boy."I was born in what doctors pro-claim is a boy’s body. I had no choice in the assignment of my sex at birth... My genital reconstructive surgery did not make me a girl. I was always a girl." Mock lives in New York City with her fiancé, photographer Aaron Tredwell

This study will mark the first fed-erally approved study in which the subjects will be able to ingest the marijuana by smoking it, he said. It will also be "the first whole-plant marijuana study," meaning the marijuana will not simply be an extract of the cannabis in a manufactured delivery system, such as a pill. "I suffered from severe post-traumatic-stress," Pereyda wrote

in the petition. "I was prescribed a cocktail of prescription drugs from the VA for years; they didn't help." He said he began using marijuana exclusively in 2010 to treat multiple symptoms of PTSD, including in-somnia, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. He said the marijuana has helped him "live a more full and productive life." "We are now waiting to hear back from the IRB at Johns Hop-kins," which will be the second venue for the actual study, Burge said. "We antici-

Police often think they can tell by looking at you whether you’re a “pothead,” so be extra careful if there’s anything about your appear-ance that might draw their attention. pear in the scientific literature. In January 2006, investigators at the British Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Disease reported suc-cessful treatment of arthritis with cannabinoids in the first-ever con-trolled trial assessing the efficacy of natural cannabis extract. Many say marijuana is a natu-ral way to alleviate symptoms of a variety of conditions, such as arthritis and chronic pain. A com-pany called Cannabis Technologies announced recently that it’s in the process of developing a new can-nabinoid-based therapy that will di-rectly target arthritis. TIME maga-zine recently shared a story that the U.S. government is looking to pur-chase 12 acres of marijuana plants

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflam-matory disease of the joints character-ized by pain, stiffness, and swelling, as well as an eventual loss of limb func-tion. Rheumatoid arthritis is estimated to affect about one percent of the popu-lation, primarily women. Use of cannabis to treat symptoms of RA is commonly self-reported by pa-tients with the disease. In a 2005 anony-mous questionnaire survey of medicinal cannabis patients in Australia, 25 per-cent reported using cannabinoids to treat RA.[1] A survey of British medical can-nabis patients found that more than 20 percent of respondents reported using cannabis for symptoms of arthritis.[2] Nevertheless, few clinical trials investi-gating the use of cannabis for RA ap-

Cannabis Corner for medical re-search purposes. This could be good news for the tens of millions of Americans who suffer from arthri-tis, the nation’s leading cause of dis-ability. Smoking marijuana raises the heart rate, and one study found that heart attack risk increases nearly five-fold in the hour after lighting up, ac-cording to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This isn’t good news for rheumatology patients who are already predisposed to such issues. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Colouring-in books are the new therapy.. the latest weapon against stress and anxiety. Five of Amazon’s top 10 last week were adult colour-ing-in books, as were six of Brazil’s top 10 non-fiction list. Last year in France, the combined colouring-in industry sold 3.5m books. Says one woman, “There are so many of us out there who are house-bound, and people don’t know. Because

we’re hidden. We’re in-doors.” That color affects us all is an undoubted fact. In fact, color is so much a part of our lives that we tend to take it for granted. Physical healing is en-couraged by directing col-ored light towards diseased areas of the body or to the eyes. In conventional medi-cal treatment, phototherapy and photochemotherapy are used in current derma-tological practice e.g. in the treatment of psoriasis, and blue light has been shown

to be effective in the treat-ment of hyperbilirumine-mia in the newborn. Some color therapists believe colours contain en-ergy vibrations with heal-ing properties. Exposure to a color and its vibrations can be used to assist the body's natural healing and recuperative powers to achieve and maintain health and well-being. So, to your health! Paint and color to your heart’s content. Use paints, pens, markers or crayons..enjoy!
