In the past 33 years I have created hundreds of collections and thousands of pieces. My job each season is to look into the future and see what’s next. A product must fit-in to what’s happening in fashion and be a part of the modern woman’s dress code. This may be forecasted by the trades or dictated by customers, but real success comes from an inspiration… a vision.

While this season was no exception, my vision has never been more clear. It’s time to refresh and for renewal. With this trend layering has become an important way to bring the past forward. Shop your jewelry box; select your favorite necklace, chain or pearls. This season LAGOS has created many options that were designed to layer with existing pieces. Our New LAGOS chain is available in all silver models, with gold accents and embellished gems. Longer lengths can be worn in groups, a bohemian style or wrapped two and three times for a rich, fuller look. Our new Venus collection features soft pastel colours and are a great new addition to any wardrobe. Different shapes and textures create a new rhythm. What is old is new. Update your past and bring it into the future. Mixing materials and different metals is ok and definitely don’t be afraid to pile it on!

The other major trend this season is the Wrist. Bracelets have always been a favorite of mine. They’re so collectable. You can always add another bracelet and it’s a great way to display your own personal style. Whether you like one big cuff, several hard bangles or piles of our Caviar ropes, bracelets are the perfect way to express yourself.

All of our newest collections feature big bold affordable cuffs that are sure to make an impression. Designed with a quarter hinge and available in different sizes these pieces are comfortable, balanced and easy to wear.

Layering on the wrist has always been the rule. Add a piece to what you already have or to your favorite watch. Our new 6mm bracelets and light, fresh and distinctive. They are available in all silver, two tone, with pink and yellow diamonds or a glacier gemstone. And with prices starting at only $195 they make a great gift idea or perfect pick-me-up item.

This Spring 2010 book was fun to produce. There are so many new options and everything has been designed to stand alone or work back to what you already have. Whether you’re a first time buyer or coming back to add to your collection you can be sure that we have what you need. Have fun and good hunting!

PassionA NEW SIGNATURE COLLECTION WITH LURE

Passion starts at $795

This season’s fashion essentials have arrived, and it’s certainly not more of the same old, same old – designers are putting creativity first and giving everyone a reason to invigorate their wardrobes. With inspiration from the past, the runways of Paris and Milan are presenting bold patterns, modern shapes and audacious styling as fashion designers reach for daring statement collections and fresh per-spectives. Silhouettes of luxuriously draped goddess dresses, feminine details of lace-trimmed coats, chic satin flourishes, and audacious metal detailing are all drawn from the inspiration of decades past for a reinterpretation into strong statement pieces this season. Bold details add interest and edge to the latest designs, and accessories are certainly reflecting these sentiments of daring style.

With this in mind, designer Steven Lagos drew upon the 1920s – a time of development and change, speakeasies and fashion – for his inspiration to create the bold, artistic Passion rings. American style of this era is known for an essence of versatility and development, together with the concept of a fusion of structural elegance and a captivating feminine design. LAGOS embraces this spirit with the contemporary reinterpretation of the Passion rings. This meticulously crafted line features new 18K gold sparkle Caviar™ bead-ing with contrasting smooth sterling silver and high-lighted with bold gemstones. An Amethyst, Blue Topaz, Citrine, Green Quartz, Smokey Quartz, or White Topaz faceted gemstone is surrounded by 18K gold beading on a highly polished sterling silver band detailing the LAGOS logo. The Passion rings deliver impact and style as the must have signature piece for the season.

Amethyst Prosperity, protection, and inspiration – each word represents the strength and peacefulness found in amethyst. The ancient world prized amethyst stones for their mystical healing powers and protective spirit against afflic-tion. In modern times the deep hues and intricate facets in each gemstone have given the rich shades of amethyst a new meaning of mystery and re-fined renewal. Promoting a sense of peace and prosperity, LAGOS utilizes amethyst as a visually rich accent to its designs, together with the traditional motif of enigmatic protection for the wearer.

02-80320-BF7$795

Blue Topaz Trust, grace, allure – all these words have been used to describe this mesmerizing stone. The people of diverse continents, from South America to Africa to Australia, have perceived a quality of depth in this stone; variously believing that blue topaz increases charisma and confidence, as well as attracting the crystalline exhilaration of love. The rich hues and sparkling facets of blue topaz represent the colour of the sea, and it is said to contain the depth of energy and power of the ocean as well as bringing the peaceful cyclical effects of tides.

02-80320-CF7$795

Citrine Creativity, clarity, and triumph – citrine represents possibilities for your future. During Renaissance times citrine was chosen as the gemstone for artists, musi-cians and writers, believing it brought an intense clarity of thought, creativity, and openness to new ideas. The warm auburn hues and radiant facets of the stone were thought to be a reflection of the brightness of the sun. Just as the sun, citrine was said to be a fountain of joy and optimism, as well as prosperity and positive success.

Smokey Quartz Energy, peace, and harmony – all these are attributes found in smokey quartz for an equalized life. Australian Aborigines have cherished the smokey quartz stone for centuries, believing it promotes a mystical harmony with nature and the universe. Reserving ownership of the deep brown stone to tribal leaders and spiritual healers, smokey quartz was utilized to re-energize the body and to bring a clear mindfulness to the wearer or the person being healed. The facets reflect warm amber and sienna hues, giving this gemstone as ethereal a life as it is beautiful.

Lore

02-80320-FF7$795

White Topaz Beauty, purity, insight, and poise – white topaz represents the best in each of us. The word topaz derives from ancient Greek, much like the LAGOS name, and it is named after Topazios, or as it is now known, St. John’s Island in the Red Sea. The brilliant facets and illuminating properties in this gemstone bring clarity and embody harmony; reflecting the crystalline purity of the waters around the once-submerged island. Captivating with a diamond-like quality, white topaz is the first choice of designer Steven Lagos when creating a radiantly beautiful design.

02-80320-GQF7$795

Green Quartz Clarity, joyfulness, and a peaceful healing effect – green quartz represents true happiness in life. Ancient Egyptians named this gemstone “Merkaba”. The word is broken down into syllables from its ancient hieroglyphs: “Mer” - fields of light, “ka” – spirit, and “ba” - soul. This civilization believed the gemstone to have the power for its wearer to achieve a healing transformation on all levels of existence. With its mysterious allure and spellbinding shades, green quartz inspires the wearer’s spirit to experience life to its fullest level of joy.

DOUBLETSThe Venus and Passion Amour collections feature gemstones that are made by joining two pieces of stone and crystal; fusing them to form a doublet gemstone. Doublets are a category of composite or handcrafted stones. The lower part of the doublet is either turquoise, white mother-of-pearl, black-mother-of-pearl, or pink-mother-of-pearl, while the upper part is a faceted crystal.

Each doublet is created as a luminous and alluring design.

Care Instructions~Err on the side of caution when caring for these stones

~Doublet stones should not be placed directly into any solvent cleaning solutions

~Steam cleaning should be avoided

~Wipe the piece with a soft cloth to remove any residue or build-up

~Store your Passion Amour jewellery in a soft cloth pouch or jewelry case so it does not touch other pieces in your collection

The shades and colour-range of turquoise makes each stone as individual as a snowflake – no two turquoise stones are identical. Since LAGOS uses only natural turquoise - colour may vary and supply may be limited.

Turquoise is only available in smaller sizes.

VenusRadiance. Beauty. Light.

Synonymous with an exceptionally beautiful woman, the name Venus originates from the goddess of Roman mythology identified as the personification of love and beauty, gardens and spring. As one of the brightest objects in our sky, early Roman astronomers named the planet Venus because its radiance was thought to mirror the beauty of the goddess.

The second planet from the sun, Venus is called Earth’s sister planet because of having an average mass, gravity and radius similar to that of Earth. The planet is best seen near sunrise or sunset and has long been referred to as the morning star and the evening star. It has occupied a place of significance for many cultures throughout human history. The Maya civilization based a calendar in part upon the motions and cycles of Venus. They referred to Venus as Noh Ek, the Great Star, and planned many of that culture’s events based upon its motions. Australian aboriginal cultures find significance in Venus as they gather after sunset awaiting the rise of the planet. Believing that Venus pulls a rope of light attached to Earth, these aboriginal peoples communicate transcendentally with their an-cestors through this cosmic rope to show that they still love and remember them. They also believe that this light from Venus sang much of the world into life.

The radiant exuberance of diamonds is unsurpassed in nature. The word diamond derives from the ancient Greek word “Adamas”, meaning indestructible. This ancient civilization alternately thought diamonds were the gods’ hardened tears of tenderness or diminutive stars that had fallen to Earth in prehistory to spread love to humans. A symbol of courage, strength and incorruptibility, the crystalline sparkle of diamonds captivates the eye like no other substance on Earth. The only gem composed of a single element, Carbon, diamonds are believed to be at least one billion years old; not only giving this precious gem a quality of purity but also a history as eternal as the love they represent. A favorite accent of designer Steven Lagos, diamonds elevate each piece they adorn to an exuberance of spirit. LAGOS carefully places diamonds in creations that will fashion a scintillating design in the same infinite, captivating and exquisite manner as the bright

stars of their mythical origins.

Paisley Recognized in Eastern traditions as a

symbol of protection and good fortune, the paisley was

reinterpreted in modern culture as a statement of personal

freedom. The paisley or ‘boteh’ motif, as the word derives

from the Sanskrit language, was worn in the near East

for centuries by travelers to invite the protection of kind

spirits and woven into garments to attract prosperity and

happiness.

The counterculture movements of the mid-

twentieth century adopted the design to reference the

freedom of expression and personal autonomy exalted in

the traditions of the East.

Recently, the paisley has reemerged as a favorite

design in the graphic arts; adorning everything from printed

images to fabrics to wall coverings with its protective and

unique silhouette.

Designer Steven Lagos chose this timeless symbol

as a signature motif to honor this rich heritage. Featuring

18-karat fluted gold, our signature gold paisley merges

the ancient meanings of protection with a modern,

independent spirit.

Traditionally connected to music and harmony, Lyra (pronounced Lāhy-ruh) is a small constellation in the summer sky. Lyra was one of the 48 constellations listed by the ancient astronomer Ptolemy, and today it remains one of the 88 constellations recognized by modern astronomy. Lyra is prominent in the nighttime summer sky because it contains the second brightest star in the northern hemisphere – Vega.

The name for this constellation derived from the lyre, a stringed musical instrument well-known for its use in the ancient world. In Greek mythol-ogy, the lyre was created by Hermes for his half-brother Apollo, the god of music. Apollo cherished the instrument and decided to give this gift of music to humans by handing the instrument to Orpheus. Legend narrates how humans, and even Nature herself, would stop to listen enraptured by his music. The myth of Orpheus continues to narrate how the musician was killed by the Bacchantes after the musician refused to continue play-ing songs for the god Bacchus, favoring Apollo instead. After his death, his lyre was thrown into a river where it was seen by Apollo, who then conviced Zeus to honor the musician for eternity. Zeus sent an eagle to retrieve the lyre and ordered the instrument to be placed in the sky as a tribute to music as well as Orpheus.

Following the inspiration of harmony and melody derived from music, LAGOS presents this design honoring a unique constellation. Invoking the brightness of the stars as well as the strings of the lyre, this collection re-flects the dazzling ability of music to captivate, inspire, and blaze with an overwhelming passion only matched by the stars themselves.

Balance. Energy. Life.

In traditional Chinese culture Chi is the energy flow inherent in all things. The unimpeded circulation of chi and a balance of its positive and negative forms are thought to be essential to good health and prosperity.

The balance and harmony of chi influences diverse areas, including the art of feng shui. The traditional art of Chinese geomancy, the placement and arrangement of objects within their environment, is thought to affect ones life with positive chi. This ancient balance of aesthetics involves the energy believed to affect health, wealth, and even luck. Color, shapes and placement of objects can all influence feng shui.

Designer Steven Lagos is influenced by the concept of health and balance that exists in the natural world. Inspired by the philosophical tradition of chi, he set out to create a collection that honors the beliefs of harmony and balance, together with a design that reflects a modern sophistication for the balanced life of today’s wearer.

COMPANY HISTORY Classic signatures of sophistication, versatility, and craftsmanship have defined the award-winning LAGOS Collections for more than thirty-three years. Designer Steven Lagos envisioned in 1977 an inventive standard for jewellery—a statement collection reflective of the modern lifestyle crafted with an uncompromised old-world attention to detail. Today, LAGOS is world-renowned to be one of the premier designer brands. An ingenious concept developed into a LAGOS symbol in 1984 with the introduction of our dazzling Caviar™ Line. These luminous sterling silver pieces feature caviar-like beading accented by eighteen-karat gold, semi-precious stones, and diamonds. With its inception, this line evinced a new jewellery category; playing a significant role in defining the bridge jewellery movement. Caviar™ is one of the best-selling fine jewellery collections in the country. Located in historic Old City Philadelphia, the LAGOS Studio is dedicated to the design and manufacture of jewellery with the highest quality. Using only the finest materials in the world, authenticity is, has been, and will always be paramount for every LAGOS creation. Each piece is designed by our artisans as a versatile and sophisticated reflection of an individual’s personal style. The LAGOS Studio is committed to the creation of beautiful pieces designed for distinction and versatility; a sophisticated statement for a truly contemporary style. LAGOS artisans continue to create for beauty, craft to endure. LAGOS is available at fine retailers including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and hundreds of independent jewelers throughout America. The LAGOS Flagship Store has been located on Rittenhouse Square, in the heart of Philadelphia’s most prominent shopping district, since 1995. This luxury retail shop features a full line of LAGOS jewellery and a helpful, knowledgeable staff.

Set in Old City Philadelphia, the LAGOS Studio is a state-of-the-art atelier where old-world craftsmanship and modern innovation combine to create impeccable handcrafted jewellery. It is here that artisans craft architecturally inspired designs with intricate detail from the initial idea to the final polished piece. This unparalleled attention ensures that each and every creation is of the absolute highest quality, making it worthy of the LAGOS name. The artistry behind each design is best captured through the process itself. It begins, of course, with an idea. Designer Steven Lagos draws upon inspiration both past and present to develop concepts that are uniquely LAGOS. Once satisfied with his vision, Steven then shares it with a team of skilled model makers who bring the sketch to life. Using traditional hand carving techniques and modern computer aided design, three dimensional wax models are created. Once a wax model is complete, it is transformed into a metal model through the centuries-old lost-wax casting process, in which the wax model is encased in plaster and heated until the wax is melted away. Molten metal is poured into the remaining cavity in the plaster and cooled. The plaster is then washed away to reveal an exact metal copy of the wax. This metal model is carefully detailed by hand. Skilled craftspeople make certain that each style is crafted to exacting standards to ensure that each piece is both beautiful and comfortable. These perfected metal models become the master pattern. A rubber mold is made from that pattern in order to create multiple exact copies in wax. These duplicates are then taken through the lost-wax casting process to produce many individual metal castings. A piece of LAGOS jewellery can be comprised of numerous different castings, as well as other elements such as diamonds, gemstones, and pearls, and even subtle working parts like springs and chains. Every piece of LAGOS jewellery originates from these same perfected master models. These essential pieces are then given to a skilled jeweller whose job it is to take these individual component parts and, using the wealth of their knowledge and techniques, assemble them to construct the wonderful object that is a piece of LAGOS jewellery. Once assembled, sterling silver is oxidized to bring out the sculptural qualities of the jewellery and create the rich luster that is LAGOS’ signature finish. Once a piece has been oxidized, stones are set and the finished piece is given a final polish. A technical inspection ensures that every piece meets LAGOS’ high standards of excellence. It can take from twenty five to literally hundreds of individual steps to complete a single LAGOS creation. At LAGOS, this labouring process is borne from a passion for fine jewellery. Craftsmanship of this caliber requires years of experience and intense dedication. Each and every piece we create captures this commitment, and our name guarantees it from manufacture defects.

CARING FOR LAGOS PRODUCTS All LAGOS Caviar products are handcrafted

from 925 sterling silver and eighteen karat gold. As

with all sterling silver, LAGOS silver will tarnish. With

this in mind, LAGOS has taken significant steps to

keep your jewellery looking new with minimum

care.

You will notice that all of the recessed

areas on your piece are already dark. This is part

of an antiquing process in which these recessed

areas are oxidized and is a deliberate feature of

the design. These darkened areas accentuate the

design, giving the piece added dimension.

To care for your product simply use the

provided polishing cloth. The white inner cloth

contains our unique formula of precious metal

cleaning agents and applies an antitarnish barrier

to your jewellery. The outer cloth gently polishes

and buffs your piece, resulting in an unsurpassed

luster.

For optimum results, apply pressure as you

gently rub the gold and silver with the white inner

cloth. Notice that the tarnish is easily removed

onto the cloth. This discoloration is normal and

acceptable. Discoloration does not change the

effectiveness of the cloth. Next, use the outer cloth

to buff the piece to a higher luster. Please note: Do

not use the inner white cloth to clean pearls, opal,

coral, or other soft gemstones. The outer cloth is

acceptable for cleaning all surfaces.

DO• Always keep your jewellery in the

LAGOS pouch when not being worn.

• Frequently wipe your jewellery with the

provided polishing cloth.

• In the event that blackening occurs,

please return the item to your local area

retailer for refinishing or email Customer

Service at [email protected]

DO NOT• Do not wear silver jewellery in the ocean -

salt water as it speeds the oxidation process

and can cause jewellery to blacken more

quickly.

• Do not use silver cleaner on LAGOS

jewellery as it will remove all of the oxidation

and leave the piece looking flat.

• Do not worry if you cannot restore your

piece to it’s original lustre. Any piece

that cannot be cleaned at home to your

satisfaction can be returned to LAGOS

for refurbishing and in most cases can be

made to look like new again.

Gemstones can get dirty. Often, soap and hand lotion can cover the gemstone with a film, dulling

the luster. Gemstones can be cleaned using a slightly soapy solution (1 part Palmolive dishwashing

liquid + 10 parts water). Dip your jewellery into this solution and scrub lightly using a soft toothbrush.

Rinse under cool water and repeat as needed. Ultrasonic cleaning is also acceptable.

LAGOS jewellery requires minimum care and will provide a lifetime of enjoyment.
