automated a very heavy Boom Arm that had been in manual use for some time.

It became evident that this boom gate could not sustain the tow-truck operator traffic and the decision was made to replace this with a Leda-Vannaclip Sliding Boom gate (SBG). In fact, the first not installed under National Park applications. The SBG is engineered to offer greater security and resistance to vandalism than standard boom gate designs, is highly programmable and easily interfaces with access control systems. The installation of the SBG took only one day (testament to the modular design) ensuring the continued security of the site.

Over the past 18 months Leda-Vannaclip has been contracted to supply and install Cantilever Security Gates and fencing to several sites for the SHC. Sites include the Head Office at Cooma, Pumping Stations at Jindabyne and Cabramurra, and most recently the new Jindabyne Dam wall in which Premium Steel Picket fencing (2100mm high) will be installed.

An ‘under-carriage’ Cantilever gate was designed for the Jindabyne Pumping Station because the retraction space was literally over a 3 metre deep gully, but the standard Cantilever design was employed at all other sites.

It appears the southern mountain areas have been the ‘flavour of the month’ as we recently completed another cantilever gate and 150 metres of 2.7m high chain wire fencing, for Country Energy Depot at Cooma. This was undertaken in cooperation with ADT who supplied and installed access control equipment to the site.

This site is one of the first fully cooperative ventures since the merger and integration of Leda Security Products P/L and Vannaclip Australia P/L and reinforces our raison d’etre, that is; one organisation to provide a complete Perimeter Security Solution….

Under the Project Management of Tony McCammont from Leda-Vannaclip, the project has emerged from concept drawings and a building site to excavations, reo cages and concrete pours for 6 x ARB Retractable Bollards then a 12 metre Track Mounted Gate; 2 x Boom Gates; 2 x Pedestrian Gates and 5 x Locking and Removable 150NB Bollards plus 8 x preformed safety and free to exit induction loops beneath the concrete, and all connected to the main

control board beside the driveway; in less than 4 weeks (less than allowed by the Primary Contractor, Prime Constructions). The project could not have proceeded as smoothly without the many hours of electronic design and implementation provided by Lyle Notley from Leda-Vannaclip who was ultimately responsible for bringing all of the disparate components together into an integrated operation panel to be located in the bullet-proof Security Kiosk

The biggest single leaf swing gate ever installed in QLD has recently been completed at Excel Concrete in Hemmant. A solution needed to be found for this site as no room was available for a slide gate and a dual swing gate would not work either due to the carpark driveway to one side.

The Perimeter Security Solution was to install an Industrial grade 9.0m Single Leaf Swing Gate with specific customised options. The gate needed to be open in the morning and closed after hours with entry via electronic key switches. An inground free to exit loop was installed with the loop being deactivated via a time control module after hours so vandals are unable to throw objects over the fence to open the gate automatically.

The Sydney Opera House recently awarded the Leda-Vannaclip Group the single largest Preventive Maintenance Contract in the Group’s history, retaining their preventive maintenance services for a further 5 years.

This contract was awarded following the successful implementation of an upgrading exercise of all existing retractable bollards installed some years earlier to significantly increase cycle operations.

“Our key clients such as the Sydney Opera House use us as their service provider of choice as we are a thoroughly accessible firm, with a personable and responsive culture that sets us apart. We pride ourselves on our management and technical expertise and put as much emphasis on working closely with each other across the company as we do on working in partnership with our clients.

Our collaborative approach means we fully understand the impact of one area of the project on another, resulting in better quality service with a greater degree of flexibility.” says Heng-Jiang Cheng, Leda-Vannaclip’s Major Projects Manager.

This project has been completed in 2 sections. Firstly, the entry/exit turnstiles separated by a wheelchair sized pedestrian gate to control access to the athletics track and facilities required by the NSW Department of Arts, Sport and Recreation.

The second installation was 4 weeks later when a Stratco canopy was placed over the entire slab. This needed to be modified to suit the application for a four post awning instead of the usual 6 post.

Leda-Vannaclip South Australia has been working closely with Chubb and Guidera O'Connor to secure SA Water Sites around Adelaide and Regional South Australia. The installations range from a tapered cantilever gate to electric and chain mesh fencing.

Continued growth for NEW South Australian Office

Leda-Vannaclip SA has also been involved in providing Perimeter Security for Southlink Bus Company at 4 sites around Adelaide. With several jobs coming up including Coles Distribution Centre for Qanstruct consisting of Boom gates, Turnstiles and a Cantilever gate, Leda-Vannaclip SA's quote file is consistently growing which is encouraging for the growth of SA.

Tasmanian Diners Protected Devonport Council had some concerns for kerbside diners safety at the New Bella’s Italian Restaurant ‘alfresco’ dining area. Bollards were incorporated into the architect’s design and Leda-Vannaclip’s bollards were chosen for the combination of appearance, low maintenance and most importantly the strength to protect diners from wayward vehicles.

The bollard of choice for this project was the Aegis AE150FB, powdercoated in Ironstone. Leda-Vannaclip engaged Transmission Australia northern Tasmania’s certified agents to complete this project.

Our electronics division is being expanded with new personnel being appointed to key positions and James Rutter taking the reins as General Manager. Jim is a well respected Security Executive in the highly technical side of the security industry and will be responsible for growing our sales nationally.

Lorin Livingston also joins the head office team at Tuggerah as our new Group Accountant while Tania Marks will play a reduced role to spend more time with her growing family.

Ben Pascoe has been appointed as Branch Manager in our new South Australian facility at Melrose Park in Adelaide. He is well supported with a very experienced gate man in Greg Wells leading up Installation and Service.

While this newsletter will highlight many of the interesting projects that we are involved in there are many others that we cannot for security reasons which is disappointing in that we cannot fully highlight the innovative and technical expertise that many of the groups highly talented employees are providing.

Like any successful organisation our strength lies in our employees and their contribution in solving our customers needs and security problems. We are concentrating our research and development in providing Perimeter Security Solutions and will continue to grow our expertise in this field.

Queensborough Rise Sandy Bay, Hobart

It is always highly gratifying and rewarding when new milestones are reached in any business. One such event occurred in September when we had our first “ONE MILLION $ Week” that’s right ONE MILLION DOLLARS worth of sales orders. Both Leda and Vannaclip contributed with orders received of over $500K in both companies.

As securing our assets whether it be from Ram Raiding to Terrorist Protection becomes such an important issue in today’s society the Leda-Vannaclip group continues to play an important role in providing product and services to cater for this market.

Queensborough Rise project at Sandy Bay, Hobart needed to protect vehicles from accidentally driving over an embankment on the estate.

Meeting the criteria of strength and aesthetic appeal thirty one (31) Vanguard fixed bollards powder coated in Notre Dame Grey were installed. Leda-Vannaclip also advised GHD architects in Hobart on the design of the footings because of the proximity to the embankment edge.
