Meem Bashar (Yr 12) and Katelyn Gaynor (Yr 11) who have been successful in attaining a place and a scholarship to attend 'A Day in the Life of a Notre Dame Medical student' workshop in Sydney in July. Bryce Hagen (Yr 10) on his nomination in the People’s Choice category in the 2019 Golden Crow Awards for his ‘Get Knotted’ bow tie business! Good luck Bryce! ANZAC day Friday 12th April saw Kooringal High School pause and reflect for our commemorative ANZAC service. A full school assembly honoured the memory of those who served our nation. We thank all of our special guests for attending the ceremony. We also thank students and staff who represented KHS at the ANZAC day service and march on April 25th. Welcome back to all of our students and staff for Term 2. Firstly, I would just like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Kyle Bryant and I am currently acting as Principal. My substantive position is Principal of Narrandera High School, a position I have held for 3 years. In total, I have been at Narrandera High School for 7 years and before that Peel High School in Tamworth. I am pleased to have been given the opportunity to lead Kooringal High School as Principal. I have heard so many great things about the school, the dedicated staff and the wonderful students. Having come from an amazing school, it is fantastic to experience another great place to work and educate our young people. I would also like to say thank you to the staff and students who have welcomed me to the school. The supportive staff have been great in assisting me to settle in at the school and the students have been very friendly, often coming to chat with me in the playground and introducing themselves in a mature and pleasant way. Many often say that you can tell the tone and culture of a school just by walking around and KHS has certainly made a positive impression on me in that respect. Carroll Cup Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the Carroll Cup breakfast with some of our sporting leaders, both junior and senior. As a new person coming into the Wagga network, it is great to see the sportsmanship and competition that an event like Carroll Cup brings to the local schools. I was pleased to hear that the junior boys achieved a good win against Mt Austin last night. Hopefully our senior boys can replicate it on Wednesday. Parent Teacher (Y8, 9 & 10) A reminder to our Year 8, 9 and 10 parents that we have a parent teacher night tonight at school from 4pm until 7pm in the Library and Gym. It will be great to have an opportunity to meet many of you who are able to attend the night. Thank you again for the welcome and I look forward to working with the students, staff and community of Kooringal HS and learning more about the ‘Kooringal Way’ Kyle Bryant Acting Principal Multi-sports day On Wednesday 1st May, students from the Support Unit travelled to Bolton Park to participate in a Multi- sports day for students with a disability. They played tennis, NRL, golf, netball and wheelchair basketball. All students showed great sportsmanship and enjoyed the day.

KHS Cross Country

The expected rain held off, paving the way for great running conditions at our cross country carnival on Wednesday 1st May. Mild temperature and strong participation made for an enjoyable and successful event at Lake Albert.

Whether students ran or walked the course, it was an enthusiastic effort from all involved.

Special congratulations to the following age champions and to Farrer house who stopped Lawson from achieving a clean sweep of all the carnivals in 2019. Well done to all!
