On satisfactorily completing the course of training at the Forest College, the selected candidates will be appointed to Class H of the Goa, Forest Service, as Assistant Conser­vators of Forests on two years prQbation.

Pay scale: Rs. 200/- per mensem during the period of probation and thereafter Rs. 220-15-400-EB-25-650. Dearness allowance, compensatory local allowance, travelling allowance and permanent travelling allowance will be admissible ac­cQrding to rules. The pay of persons already under the Go­vernment of Goa will be fixed according to the Rules, but the pay will remain fixed during the probationary period.

Assistant Conservators of Farests have prospects of promo­tion in due course to the grade of (I) Deputy Conservator of Forests (Rs. 350-30-650-EB-45-1.100).

Duties: Inspection and supervision in the marking of trees, of the silvicultural works in forests requiring technical knawledge, special works such as collection of data for working plans, surveys, construction of roads, buildings, etc.

The standard of the examination.

The standard of the .. Essay in English and General Know­ledge papers will be such as may be expected of a graduate of an Indian University.

The object of the Viva Voce test will be to assess the suitability of the candidate for appointment as Assistant Conservators of FQrest, and his calibre, including intellectual, social and moral traits of personality, such as critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, judgement, variety and depth of interest and capacity for leadership. While -no attempt will be made to test his general or specia­lized knowledge, the test will seek to elucidate how far the
