Bancassurance channel has continued to gain popularity with total premium in the first half of 2018 accounting for 47.72% of total premium from all channels. Growth was 7.15% compared to the same period of last year (according to statistics of OIC) and the trend is likely to continue.

As such, to ensure maximum benefit for those interested in purchasing insurance through Bancassurancechannel, here are recommendations on buying insurance products via Bancassurance.

Recommendations for purchasing insurance via banks

1. Buyers should understand that life insurance is not a savings deposit.

2.Buyers should require to see the life insurance broker license of bank staff based on types of insurance policy.

3. Buyers should choose the insurance plan that meets their needs.

4. Buyers should plan and estimate income andexpensestoensurethatpremiumisaffordablethroughoutthecontractterm.

5.Buyers should understand coverages andexclusions. If buyers do not understand, theyshouldaskquestionsbeforemakingapurchase.

6.Buyers have the right to voluntarily buy

insurance policy and to decline if it does notmeettheirneeds.

7. Buyers should fill in the insurance application

formthemselvesandcheck correctnessbeforesigningtheapplicationform.

8.Buyers are able to exercise the right to

terminate insurance policy within 15 days after receiving the life insurance policy

9.Premiumshouldbedirectlypaidtotheinsurancecompany’saccountand buyers should keep thereceiptfromthebankasevidence.

10. Buyers should inquire about channels for claiming policy benefits from the insurer.

11. After receivingthepolicy, buyersshould checkwhether the policy is correct and in line withthesalespresentationofthesalesperson.
