HIDDEN TREASURES OF OMAN 7 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS

DAY 1: ARRIVALYour chauffeur receives you at the arrival hall of Muscat International Airport and takes you to your hotel. Overnight at Ramada Hotel Muscat.

DAY 2: MUSCAT CITY TOURStart your day with a visit to the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the fifth biggest Mosque in the world (dress code to be followed). Pass the embassy area and enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Opera House (available when there is no rehearsal on stage). Continue to Al Alam Palace, flanked by two Portuguese Forts, Al Mirani and Al Jalali Followed by a visit to the Bait Al Baranda Museum. Then take a pleasant drive along the corniche to Muttrah Souk, the oldest souk in Oman. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Ramada Hotel Muscat.

DAY 3: WADI DAYQAH – SUR – RAS AL HADDToday explore the rustic beauty of the country. Cross Wadi Al Mayh and continue to Wadi Dayqah, one of the biggest freshwater reservoirs in Oman. Enjoy a walk along the dam before heading back to the coastline. Reach Sur and visit one of the traditional dhow factories, an open air dhow museum and a walk through Al Aygah with its beautiful old, wooden doors.In the evening you can visit the world famous Rass Al Hadd turtle beach to watch the Green Turtles laying eggs as well as baby turtles leaving their nests (no guarantee to see turtles during low season). Overnight at Turtle Beach Resort.

DAY 4: DESERT CROSSINGToday you will have a glimpse of Bedouins (Nomad) known for their hospitality. Drive to Asyla along white sandy beaches with mesmerizing views of the Indian Ocean. After a photo stop in Gaheid, be ready for an unique desert experience! You will cross the Sharqiyah Sands, enjoying its beautiful dunes and peaceful atmosphere. Stop by at one of Bedouin’s houses where you can enjoy an authentic home cooked Omani lunch and get to know how the community’s desert life in the 21st century. By early afternoon we will leave from the desert village and reach the desert camp.Overnight at Sama al Wasil Camp.

DAY 5: WADI BANI KHALID – IBRA/SINAW – BIRKAT AL

MAUZEnjoy a breakfast in the desert and head to the evergreen Wadi Bani Khalid, where you can enjoy a swim or a take a walk in the green palm gardens. Head to one of the desert towns, Ibra (on Wednesdays) where locals from nearby villages come to the main market with its traditional women’s market or to Sinaw (on Thursdays) known for its camel and fish market. Your next destination is the town of Nizwa enroute visiting the beehive tombs in nearby Izki. The tombs were discovered a few decades ago and are one of the many secrets of the former Arabic civilization. You will soon find yourself surrounded by some of the tall mountains in Oman.Walk along the banana and date trees in Birkat al Mauz or just enjoy the view of the village. Overnight at Falaj Daris Hotel Nizwa.

DAY 6: NIZWA – AL HAMRA – MISFAT AL ABRYEENTake off to the old part of Nizwa, where you visit the silver souk and the round tower fort. Moving away from the busy main road we will pass through some of the traditional, small villages before reaching the old mud city, Al Hamra giving an insight into the former lifestyle of the peasant population. Drive up the Jebel Shams, also called “mountain of the sun”. Its plateau gives you an impressive view of the canyon, also known as “Oman’s Grand Canyon”. In the afternoon you can

enjoy a walk in the beautiful old village Misfat al Abryeen, where you will also stay for one night in a traditional house including an Omani homemade dinner. Overnight at Misfat Old House.

DAY 7: WADI BANI AWF – BILAD SAID – AL HAZMIn the morning you will leave the sun mountain heading for another adventurous drive through the mountains. You will cross Wadi Bani Awf, one of Oman’s most memorable landscapes. A small walk through the canyon close by the mountain village Bilad Said and a picnic lunch before you leave this region. On your way to the hotel you will stop at Al Hazm fort. It might be not the biggest or the oldest fort, but the elaborate renovation makes it to one of its kind! Continue to the seaside.Overnight at Millenium Mussanah Hotel.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL – MUSCAT CITY TOURWelcome to Oman! Your guide will welcome you at the Muscat International airport and take you to the hotel. After refreshing, start your day at the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the fifth biggest Mosque in the world (dress code to be followed). Pass the embassy area and enjoy a guided tour of the Royal Opera House (available when there is no rehearsal on stage). Continue to Al Alam Palace, flanked by two Portuguese Forts, Al Mirani and Al Jalali Followed by a visit to the Bait Al Baranda Museum. DAY 2: AMOUAGE – BIRKAT AL MAUZ – JEBEL AKHDARStart the day with a visit to the Amouage perfume factory. Discover the different incenses and get to know more about how one of the most expensive perfume brands of the world is produced. Contunue your journey towards Al Hajjar mountains. Stop at Birkat al Mauz, a beautiful small village, surrounded by date and banana trees. From there you drive up to around 2000 m above sea level enjoying a fabulous scenery on the way. Arrive and enjoy the beauty of Jebel Akhdar town, which means green mountain, before you check in at your hotel. Overnight at Alila Hotel Jebel Akhdar.

DAY 3: NIZWA – BAHLA – JABREENLeave the mountain for a day excursion of Nizwa the old capital and the surrounding . Discover the traditional souq (market place), famous for its silver jewellery and handmade khanjars (daggers) shops as well as other sections like vegetables, dates and souvenirs.. Proceed to the fort and learn more about its interesting history. Leave Nizwa and continue to Bahla, a mystic city where one of the four UNESCO world heritage sites of Oman, Bahla Fort is located. You can also walk around the old village for a photo stop. We arrive at Jabreen castle, the last site of the day. Known as the most beautiful castle in Oman, don’t miss to visit the fort from inside, listening to the story of its builder Bil’arub bin Sultan and his tragic history.Overnight at Alila Hotel Jebel Akhdar.

DAY 4: AL HAMRA – MISFAT AL ABRYEEN – WADI BANI

AWFToday you will leave the interior of Oman. First stop is Al Hamra- an old town. In the middle of the old village is a beautiful, renovated museum, which gives a glimpse of how Omanis used to live centuries ago whose generations live even today. Next stop is the mountain village Misfat al Abryeen, which exists for more than 400 years. It is not possible to go through the village by car so we take a nice walk around the area. Then your journey continues to Wadi Bani Awf-an adventurous drive through the mountains with mesmerizing views and the beautiful village Bilad Said which invites you to walk around their green terrace fields. Today’s tour will end at the coastline of the Bathina region. Overnight at Millenium Mussanah Hotel.

DAY 5: WADI ABIYAD – NAKHL – WAKANToday’s unique adventure will bring you to the Bathina region, one of the most interesting but still undiscovered areas in Oman. First of all you will discover Wadi Abiyad. Depending on the water level, you do some wadi bashing or even be able to have a bath or just have a walk in that area.From there you will continue to one of the biggest towns in this area. Nakhl has an impressive fort, built on a 60 m high mountain. When your guide shows you around the fort you get to know how the Omanis used to live. Drive through the old part of

Nakhl, where mud houses are surrounded by gardens and reach Ain Thowarah, the hot springs of Nahkl. In the early afternoon you will leave the city and proceed to the Hajjar mountains. A small village called Wakan, where locals still living the traditional Omani way, invite you to walk through its fruitful gardens to enjoy unique views over the mountain area. After the walk you will return to your hotel.Overnight at Millenium Mussanah Hotel.

DAY 3: BIMAH SINKHOLE – SURLeave the capital of Oman to explore the beauty of the country. First stop of the day will be the Bimah Sinkhole. After enjoying a walk in the evergreen Wadi Tiwi nearby, proceed to the coastal town of Sur, soaking in mesmerizing views of the Indian Ocean and Oman’s beautiful white beaches. Visit one of the traditional dhow factories, an open air dhow museum and a walk through Al Aygah with its beautiful old, wooden doors in Sur. On the way you will discover some of the hidden treasures of Oman in the small town of Al Kamil, where you can visit the fort museum. After that you will proceed to a gazelle sanctuary to watch some of the rare fauna in Oman. You will soon arrive at the first dunes and enter the desert. Enjoy the sunset over the dunes and a traditional dinner at the camp.Overnight at Sama al Wasil Desert Camp.

DAY 5: SINAW – BIRKAT AL MAUZ – NIZWAEnjoy the breakfast before leaving to experience more of this fascinating country! The busy, Wednesday weekly market in Sinaw will be your first stop today. It is a traditional market for women where they sell mainly handmade crafts and incense. Discover the old part of the city before continuing to Nizwa. You will find yourself surrounded by some of the highest mountains in Oman soon and walk along the banana and date trees in Birkat al Mauz or just enjoy the view of the village. Overnight at Al Diyar Hotel Nizwa.

DAY 6: NIZWA – BAHLA – JABREEN – AMOUAGEProceed to Nizwa, the old capital of Oman. After that you will walk around the souq of Nizwa and get to know more about its history at the fort. This region has a very long and powerful history of which you will have a glimpse during a photo stop at the UNESCO world heritage site Bahla Fort and during your visit of the unique castle in Jabreen. On your way back to Muscat you will stop at the Amouage perfume factory known for producing one of the finest perfumes of the world. You can take a tour of the factory and explore the diversity of the different ingredients and incenses (closed on Friday and Saturday).

DAY 7: BARKA – NAHKL – AIN THOWARAH -DEPARTUREToday’s tour will lead you to the Bathina region. Before you leave the capital you will visit the lively fish market in Seeb, where the local fishermen sell their catch of the night. Proceed to a camel breeding farm near Barka town where people from all over the GCC come to see racing camels. In the early afternoon you reach Nakhl. Visit its beautiful fort built on a high mountain. Drive through the old part of the city, passing old mud houses and beautiful gardens and reach the hot springs Ain Thowarah. Enjoy a walk along the palm trees and the pool area. After that you return to Muscat and reach the airport for your departure flight or your guide will transfer you to the booked hotel for your extension stay. ***End of services***

After that you drive through the old part of the city, passing traditional gardens and old mud houses. Stop at Ain Thowarah, known for its hot springs. From there on, you will enjoy a real adventure crossing the mountains via Wadi Bani Awf! On your way, you enjoy a walk in the mountain village Bilad Said. After crossing the mountains you reach Al Hamra- a small village where locals have converted a tradtional house as a museum for visitors to experience Omani lifestyle. DAY 3: NIZWA – WADI BANI KHALID – DESERTIn the morning you will discover the old capital of Oman, Nizwa. Walk around the souq and get to know about the town’s long history while walking through the fort. From there you proceed to another beautiful wadi, called Wadi Bani Khalid, which invites you to have a swim or just to enjoy the beautiful scenery. After that you will enter the magical desert Sharqiyah Sands. Enjoy the sunset over the dunes and a traditional dinner at the camp.Overnight at Sama al Wasil camp.

DAY 4: SUR – WADI TIWI/WADI SHAB -DEPARTUREDepending on your departure time at the airport you have the possibility to see the following sights: a drive along the coastline and reach Sur- One of the most important trading cities in the Arabian Sea in the past. Visit a dhow factory where traditional wooden ships are made and the open air dhow museum. Return to Muscat after enjoying a walk at

Wadi Shab or exploring Wadi Tiwi by car. Just in time to reach your flight you will be brought back to Muscat International Airport.

The scenery will quickly change after leaving Nizwa on your way to the desert. First stop is Ibra, where you visit the old part of the town and the traditional Souq (traditional women market on Wednesdays). Before entering the sand, experience another natural beauty of Oman: Wadi Bani Khalid that invites you for a swim in the pools or a walk. The perfect place for the sunset is on top of the dunes! After that reach to the camp.Dinner and overnight at Desert Nights Camp.

DAY 5: SUR – WADI TIWI – WADI AL ARBAEEN

First of all you will return to the coastline and reach Sur. In former times one of the most important trading cities in the Arabian Sea it is now a more silent but still beautiful city. You visit the dhow factory where traditional wooden ships are made and the open air dhow museum. After leaving Sur drive alongside the coastline to Muscat. Take the chance to walk through Wadi Tiwi. Leave the main road and enjoy the beautiful scenery driving through the unique Wadi al Arbaeen. Feel free to dip in one of the natural water pools before reaching Muscat International Airport.
