While we are dedicated to offering our usual high quality program these holidays, your child’s safety is our priority. We are constantly monitoring NSW Health’s COVID-19 advice and will contact you immediately should we be required to cancel all or part of our program.

LocationThe Holiday Program is based on the Junior School campus in Poole House.

Abbotsleigh Junior School campus is located at 22 Woonona Avenue, Wahroonga.

Maps of the school are available on the Holiday Program page of the Abbotsleigh website.

How to enrolTo make a booking, please complete the application form and send it together with the payment via one of the following methods:

• scan and email your completed form to [email protected]

• post to Abbotsleigh Holiday Program, Locked Bag 1666, Wahroonga 2076.

BookingsAll bookings received will be confirmed via email within five working days. No bookings will be confirmed without receipt of payment. Enrolments will be processed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis for courses with limited places available.

There are no refunds or credits for bookings unless a medical certificate is provided. Requests for a refund must be in writing to the Holiday Program Coordinator, attached with a copy of the medical certificate. Requests must be received no later than two weeks after the final Holiday Program day.

Each course runs subject to sufficient numbers or enrolments. If a course is cancelled, notification will be made and a full refund issued in these instances.

Arrivals/DeparturesIt is a legal requirement that parents sign their child in and out each day. Children will only be permitted to leave the centre when accompanied by an adult nominated on the enrolment form. Written notification is required to allow another person to collect your child/children.

Late fee policyParents arriving to collect their child/children after 6 pm will be charged a late fee of $1 per minute per child for the first five minutes, and then $5 per minute per child thereafter.

What to bring on the dayA list of what to bring is outlined in this brochure under each specific workshop. All children must bring their own morning tea, lunch and any snacks/drinks for the day (Please be aware that children with allergies are attending our centre.) Fresh water will be made available at all times.

Children are encouraged to wear sun safe clothing at all times throughout the year – a hat for outdoor play, a shirt with sleeves and closed in shoes. Sunscreen will be provided for all children; however, it is recommended that sunscreen is applied prior to attending.

AllergiesIf your child is known to have an anaphylactic reaction or episode to any allergy, it is imperative that you provide the Abbotsleigh Holiday Program with a current, colour, action plan (include a recent colour photo).

Enrolments will NOT be finalised without the correct medical plans provided.

Child Care Subsidy The AbbSchool Holiday Program is an approved child care provider and those attending our Junior Activities program are eligible to claim the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).

To receive these benefits you must provide us with your family and child’s Customer Reference Number (CRN) and parent and child’s dates of birth. To receive the CCS and for more information, please contact the Department of Human Services on 136 150.

Payment for ChildcareEligible for Child Care Subsidy

Junior Activities, extended hours and excursions are eligible for government subsidy. Payment for these hours will be via the same invoicing system as our Before and After School program. If you have previously signed up for direct debit, payment will be settled on the Before and After School care system. Alternatively payment will be processed via your nominated credit card at the end of the VAC period.

Photo permissionFrom time to time photographs are taken of participants in AbbSchool Holiday Program activities. These photographs may be used in Abbotsleigh publications and on the Abbotsleigh website. Photographs will not be used for any other purposes without prior consent and students in photos will not be personally identified. If you do not wish your child’s photograph to be used in this way, please contact us at [email protected]

JUNIOR ACTIVITIES

Eligible for Child Care Subsidy

Weeks 1-7 | 7.30 am-6 pm | $65 per day JS campus | Boys and girls aged 5-12

Please note there are incursion days with an extra cost. Price is in the schedule. Bookings essential as places are limited. Walk ins will not be taken.

Every day at Junior Activities is fun filled with something for everyone! Children will enjoy art and craft, games, cooking, sport and party days. Each day has a new, exciting theme with related fun activities.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, participants will walk up to the Senior School for an hour of recreational swimming.

What to bring:  Hat, painting shirt, sunscreen, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a named water bottle. For recreational swimming on Tuesday and Thursday, children are to wear a swimming cap and costume. T-shirts and board shorts are not permitted. Please bring own floaties and goggles if required.

CREATE DAY – $65Are you ready to create? Use your imagination? Use recycled products to construct your own creations.

Friday 10 December

PROFESSOR BUBBLES – $95There is something magical about these coloured bubbles of soap that creates a sense of wonder and amazement in the young and the young at heart. Professor Bubbles takes this age old fascination with the Humble Soap Bubble, adds a load of laughter, comedy, music and of course AMAZING BUBBLES, and combines it all in a show like no other. Please bring a spare set of clothes.

Week 2Monday 13 December

BRIX WORKS – $95Kids will learn about the history of LEGO and how to create many Christmas-themed possibilities with a simple brick. This workshop will have both team-based and individual creativity challenges in which kids will let their imaginations run wild.

Tuesday 14 December

CHRISTMAS CRAFT – $65Have fun creating some Christmas craft to decorate your home.

Wednesday 15 December

FEATHERED FRIENDS – $95

Interactive free-flight bird show! Flying overhead and landing on audience members’ arms, our incredible bird ambassadors provide the opportunity for all kids to handle and interact with these amazing creatures and is a huge part of what our birds are trained to do.

Thursday 16 December

WHEELS DAY – $65

Bring in your own scooter, bikes, roller skates and skateboards to cruise around the school. Make up your own exciting tracks to race around on.

Friday 17 December

ARCHERY ATTACK – $95

A hybrid mix of Paintball, Archery and Dodgeball – take the best bits and you have Arrow Tag!

Week 3Monday 20 December

THE JOLLYBOPS SCIENCE SHOW – $95

Kids will be introduced to a series of scientific concepts in this funny and dynamic show!

Tuesday 21 December

CHRISTMAS COOKING DELIGHTS – $65

Show off your cooking skills over Christmas and learn how to make some delicious treats for the family.

Wednesday 22 December

RAPTOR REPTILE – $95

Raptor Reptile love all things scaly and creepy and, with more than 50 animals, they have more than you can poke an elephant’s trunk at!

Thursday 23 December

CHRISTMAS PARTY – $65

Music, tinsel, games and party, party, party!

Week 5Monday 10 January

MASTER BUILDERS – $95Magnetic tile workshops help to uncover the dynamic power and potential of STEM subjects and provide a true

and unique learning opportunity through educational play experience.

The educational programs cover Engineering, Mathematics and Coding,

incorporating the intelino smart train into building play activities. We encourage children to make a large scale construction so they can learn and explore their creativity, build team work and stimulate their self-confidence.

ABB OLYMPICS DAY – $65Come for a day of Olympics events.

Wednesday 12 January

Week 6Monday 17 January

DRAGON TAO KIDS KUNG FU – $95It is important for children to keep active, but even better if they can learn something of value at the same time. Dragon Tao Kids Kung Fu teaches children the skills of discipline, mindfulness and self-defence. Not only this, but they also learn how to relax, focus better, build self confidence, and improve health, which we all know is of great benefit to everyone.

MUFFIN DAY – $65Come and bake all things MUFFINS!

Wednesday 19 January

AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE SANCTURY – $95A range of Australian animals will come to visit. The presentation will be Australian Curriculum linked and children will learn all sorts of fascinating things about our native wildlife!

Thursday 20 January

PAINT DAY – $65Get your paint smocks out – it’s a day all about painting!

WATER DAY – $65Water, water, water! Plenty of fun water activities and don’t forget to pack a spare set of clothes!

8OTHER COURSES

Extended hours 7.30-9 am, 3-6 pmExtended hours are for those in workshops ONLY.

Flat, pre-booked rate $20 (7.30-9 am, 3-6 pm)

Second and subsequent siblings are charged at 50% of the above rate for extended hours.

Not eligible for subsidy.

TENNIS   Weeks 1-3 , 5-7 | 9 am-3 pm | $50 per day | Boys and girls aged 5-12 | JS campus

The tennis program caters for beginners to advanced players. Each child will be graded and grouped according to age and ability by the coaching staff. The program covers stroke technique, footwork, match play, scoring and etiquette.

Coaching methods and activities include continuous tennis for beginners to more complex drills for advanced players. Every Tuesday and Thursday the tennis children will walk to the senior school with the Junior Activities children to participate in one hour of recreational swimming. Swimming is not compulsory and books/ colouring can be brought up as well. 

What to bring: Children should wear sun safe clothing to tennis, with a shirt that covers the back and shoulders, a hat is compulsory (no hat, no play), sunscreen, morning tea, lunch, named water bottle and tennis racquet. Racquets may be borrowed if you do not own one.
