2 Central Characteristics of ITMA
Truly international organization without equal
Multidisciplinary
International Association for Accident and Traffic Medicine
IAATM
Logo adopted in 1975
Created by Dr. Rune Andréasson together with Prof. Georges Hoffmann and Prof. Keith A. Mant
In 2000 renamed:
International Traffic Medicine Association
ITMA
Name, 1960 – 2000:
International Association for Accident and Traffic Medicine
IAATM
Created by Dr. Leonard Evans
Logo adopted in 2000
The word accident became increasingly unacceptable in professional use. Reasons are compelling – words are important – they influence how we think. So in 2000 organization acquired a shorter pronounceable name, ITMA – not containing the unacceptable word.
Happy 50th Birthday, ITMA
