OPENING ADDRESS
Psalm 46 v 10(a) - Be still and know that I am God.
We live in a busy and chaotic, stress filled world. We are exposed daily to the
lawlessness, anger, hatred and turmoil in peoples hearts. We are confronted with
negativity and evil on all fronts and the bad news, is that it’s going to get worse.
The good news however is that we can saturate ourselves rather in God’s presence
than become caught up in the things of this world. The choice is ours - God’s peace
is there for the taking but we need to take time everyday to dwell in His presence in
quietness and rest.
The more we dwell in His presence, the easier it will be for us to focus on Him and
experience a lifestyle of having a peace that truly passes all human understanding.
In each day choose to hear His words and obey -
Be still and know that I am God
Love, Lynette

ZOË CLINIC - SLEEP Z Z Z Z
We live in a stressful world and one can often find oneself so
tired yet unable to fall asleep at night because of brain activity.
Proper sleep is needed to rest our minds and bodies so that we
can function at our best during the day. Here are some tips on
how one can get a good nights sleep:-
Have consistent sleep patterns i.e. have a set bedtime and time for waking.
Have a winding down routine e.g. read or watch a calming programme on TV.
Don’t try to sleep straight after doing mental work. Having a warm bath before
bed works wonders.
Exercise is helpful for a good nights sleep, but try to avoid vigorous exercise
within three hours of bedtime.
Avoid going to bed hungry or on a full stomach. Don’t drink a lot before bedtime
as you will need to visit the bathroom during the night.
Make your bedroom quiet, dark and comfortable.
Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol late in the day.
Keep your bedroom as a bedroom not as a lounge or office.
Lying awake, trying to sleep can be stressful. Rather after half an hour, read a
book, put on some relaxing soothing music or use the time to pray.
Avoid day time napping unless you really need it as this can affect your sleeping
at night.
Sometimes a power nap of 20 minutes is enough to energise us for the rest of
the day.
May you be blessed with a good night sleep!

16th Birthday Celebration
Hebron Christian Academy celebrated its sixteenth birthday on the15th August 2016.
We organised a jam packed week of activities to celebrate our special mile stone.
We kicked off the week with ‘crazy moustache day”. For a R5 donation our learners
got to wear a moustache for the day. We also awarded prizes for the best and most
original moustaches.
On the Thursday we held Market Day. Learners were allowed to sell their goods
during break. A stall cost R10 and learners were allowed to keep the proceeds
made at their stall.
On the Friday a special day was held for the learners. In the evening we had a youth
bash. Every child was asked to bring a loaf of bread, which was taken into the
community for the needy.
Saturday was “outreach day”. Students handed out soup and bread to the home-
less on the streets of Kuils River.
The week was ended off with a celebration service on the Sunday. Tea, cake and
snacks were served after the service.
All funds collected were sown into the community.
Thank you to all involved during “Jesus Week”. It was an enjoyable week and we
will definitely make it an annual event.
GRADE 7 ENTREPRNEURS DAY
Entrepreneurs day was held on Friday 4th September 2016. The project formed part
of their EMS assessment task for this term. Food, cake, sweets and novelty items
were on sale by our young entrepreneurs. The project was a huge success.
SPORT
Rugby matches were held on Wednesday 10th August against Destinatus Private
School in Brackenfell. There were also two netball matches played on 17th and 18th
August, against Good Hope College and Kuils River Primary School respectively.
Well done to our learners for your excellent conduct and sportsmanship. We are
proud of you!

FROM THE MOUTH OF BABES
BEST TIMES
1) Youth - Youth was lots of fun, games, themes and music. I love going to
youth and I will never forget the lessons Pastor Cameron and Ma’am Marli
teach us. I was also at Pastor Cameron’s Ordination. It’s so much fun going
to youth on a Friday.
2) Lessons - There was a lot to learn this term. We also had some
fun in between the lessons. I’m so glad the tests are over. There
is more time spent in class than in Grade 3, but at least we get
two breaks!
3) Friends - Everyone in Hebron is nice. Sometimes the boys are a
bit annoying but they are never rude. I love my friends at Hebron.
Emily Coetzee - Grade 4
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SCHOOL
I don’t have a lot of favourites, but I know a few favourite things about my school.
Firstly, I like that I am in this school. I wouldn't be happy in another.
One day my Grandpa got cancer. He eventually died which was heart breaking to all
my family members. That Friday, while I was still sad, we went to Chapel. Ma’am
Gonda spoke about her nephew who took drugs. He had the wrong friends and got
into lots of trouble. He went to rehab twice and when he came out his friends asked
him to help steal something. At first he said no but then eventually he said yes. He
got caught stealing and was put in a police cell while they waited for his father.
He was so scared of being in jail, that he committed suicide before his
father came to get him. Ma’am Gonda and her family were very sad.
A few other children then talked about their losses. I soon found out that
I’m not the only one who is sad about my loss. I now try to make the
most of all my family. I was happy again and now have fun even when
I’m sad.

RUGBY
The best thing that happened to me this term was to play rugby. The
day we played a match at another school, I scored a try! It was the best
thing in my life! We won the first match but the second one we lost, but it
doesn't matter to me because I had fun.
Matthew September - Grade 4
HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS TERM
My best highlight was when I encouraged
Aunty Dawn to continue helping needy
people. We also collected bread for her to
hand out to the needy.
Entrepreneurs day was also fun. I played a
game at the “sweet temptations” stall. The
game was to get as many apples as you
could, out of a bowl of water using only
your mouth in under a minute.
I played the game 20 times.
It was so much fun. The more
apples you could get the more
prizes you won.
Ino Mkula - Grade 4
MY “TERM 3” EXPERIENCE
My highlight was “Jesus Week”. The
best part was market day. I was
actually very impressed about the
great sweets and chips on sale. I
enjoyed everything, but the cup
cakes were the best.
The teachers were also great fun,
even though they are strict. I will al-
ways love the teachers. They are the
highlight of this term. They are like
my parents. I just want to say “I love
you teachers, from the bottom of my
heart. You will always be my number
one!”
A special thank you to Pastor Stuart
for always being there. I just want
you to know I’m trying to change my
life, I want to be godly, JUST LIKE
YOU! I love you!
Skhanyiso Dubase -
Grade 4
HEAVEN
We need to pray to Jesus every day
because it good to read your bible and pray
everyday. If you accept and serve Jesus
you can go to Heaven. In Heaven you
might see your whole family and
you can go into Jesus’ arms. If
you don’t go to Heaven you will
go to Hell and that’s bad!!
Reuben Andries - Grade 4

YOUTH IS COOL
Youth is cool because we learn about God. The
music is also nice but I mostly like it because of
our youth leader. Our youth leader is
Pastor Cameron. He is the best!
Kaitlin Hendricks - Grade 4
JESUS WEEK
Jesus week was the
best week we could
have ever imagined.
We spoke about a man
who built an ark. His
name was Noah.
Noah liked God and
he trusted God. He believed that if
he told all the people to come with
him they would listen. We also had
boerewors rolls and got to wear
moustaches. It was so much fun.
An Awesome week!
Mikhail Lai Wing - Grade 4
JESUS WEEK
I loved Jesus week. I wish we
could have another week called
“God week”. We had mous-
tache day on the Wednesday,
market day on the Thursday and
on Friday we could wear casual
clothes and we had a braai. The
braai was so delicious, I can still
taste it!
Shaun-Lee Heinze - Grade 4
FROM THE MOUTH OF BABES
MY HOME - POEM
A place of rest,
A place of peace,
Nothing more comforting,
Than my own home,
In which I prefer to roam,
Whether silent or noisy some ways,
There’s no where else,
I’d rather feel comfortable on down days,
A turn of the key,
Occupied by dad, bro and my mommy,
A walk ending soon
As I sit down on my bed in my room,
Blessed by what God has shown,
I’m privileged to say,
I have a home,
So grateful all the while,
Happily joyous living in my home with a smile.
