P.T.G. UPDATE On November 9th, the P.T.G. meeting was held in the Elementary School Library. Those that participated were: Jennifer Rearick, Brittney Cox, Kathy Osby, Dana Darman, Lynn Glotzbach, Lynette Minto, Vanessa Brown, Jackie Hilton, Matthew Hilton, Mr. Wennmacher, Mrs. Sterk, Mrs. DeFries, and Mr. Martin. Good Deeds Coat Drive finished up and Chuck Raehl took bunches of gently used coats to the Clothing Bank located at St. Michael's Church. Thanks to all the families that donated. Your generosity will go a long way in keeping others warm this winter. When you donated your coats did you see the fantastic new donation box in the lobby? A great big THANK YOU goes out to Heather and Dan Naasko, Angie Nava, Janet Veach and Les Ebeltoft for your hard work in constucting the sturdy structure. It will last for many years to come! Mrs. DeFries' class was the October Attendance Award winner with 3 absences for the entire month! They were honored with a popcorn party on November 13th. Way to go, students!! Mr. Wennmacher, Mrs. Sterk, Mrs. DeFries and Mrs Moser provided the PTG with feedback on our ChromeBook and cart donation to the school. They are all very happy with the new technology that is available in their classrooms now. Teachers must sign up in advance to reserve the cart for a designated period of time in their class. They reported that the cart is very user-friendly. Even the first graders are able to use with little trouble. The children are very engaged with the technology and use the Chromebooks for testing, Razz Kids and Sum Dog educational websites, among other things.

CAMPBELLS UPDATE 1. Parks ( 539) 2. Bernhart (431) 3. Wennmacher (333) BOXTOPS UPDATE Not available at this time

**Please note that we will begin collecting School Spirit labels that are found on some loaves of Aunt Millie's bread. More information to come. Mark your calendars for the 3rd Wednesday night of the month to eat at Pav's in Hebron. We will resume Family Night at Pav's. Chris Pavlo has again agreed to donate a portion of the evening's proceeds back to Hebron Elementary P.T.G. Just present the P.T.G. coupon (sent home with your student) when you order. In the past, your support has helped us earn approximately $50 per month. A win-win situation for all! As you are doing your holiday grocery shopping, please pick up a few items for those in need this year. Our Good Deeds Food Drive will be November 30- December 11. Donation boxes will be in the Elementary School Hallway. As an incentive this year, the grade with the most donations will win donuts! Hope to see you at our next meeting, which is scheduled for December 14, 2015. Childcare will be provided.

NEWS FROM THE HAWKS HIGH FLYING BOOK CLUB Our November book club was a huge success!!! We had 234 children in attendance. Mrs. Gearhart and Mrs. Vawter were our presenters. Mrs. Gearhart was kind enough to share her adorable little Boston Terrier puppies with us. She had the children learning puppy facts while playing a fun game of Puppy Jeopardy. Mrs. Vawter read to the children. They also had puppy chow for a snack. The children and adults enjoyed the visit from the puppies. Thank you to all who attended and helped out! Book club will not be meeting in December because of the busy holiday season and break. We hope to see everyone in January if weather is permitting!

NEWS FROM MRS. STERK’S FIRST GRADE CLASS Wow, the Holidays are approaching quickly! First Grade has been very busy learning about the Pilgrims and the Native American Indians. To culminate the unit we are having a traditional Thanksgiving feast with all of the fixings! We are very fortunate to have such wonderful parents to help prepare the food for our feast. The children have been making their costumes along with weaving their own place mat. The children will also be making the dessert for the big day! My class has been practicing a play "Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving". They are very excited and doing a great job! We hope to be able to perform it for some other classes. Along with all the holiday fun we are completing our last story in our first Reading book and will be ready for our second book when we return from break. In Math we have been working on addition and subtraction. We will be finishing Topic 5 and taking our first quarter benchmark Math test.

After a fun anti-bullying kick-off in the gym earlier this year, Mr. Martin and the Olweus Anti-Bullying committee wanted to continue the thinking and awareness of anti-bullying at Hebron Elementary. Mrs. Hunzelman, Counselor and Art teachers Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Drazer decided to 'put a face on it' with a school wide Art project. Every student, teacher and staff member created a little self-portrait on paper and each one was assembled onto an 8 foot banner which now hangs in our school lobby with the slogan "Bully Free: It Starts With Me". It is fun to look at all the faces of our entire school community and be reminded to be a buddy, not a bully!

NEWS FROM THE GYM – Mrs. Gearhart The Holidays are coming fast but the gym students are moving faster and faster. Fall Assessment testing is over and we have finished our soccer, speed-ball and scoop-ball units. This week we are starting our scooter unit and we have started memorizing our muscles. We are starting to think about what exercises and movements we utilize with each muscle. Soon we will be starting our Jump-rope unit and kicking-off our American Heart Association service project. If each child brought in $5.00 we would have an outstanding donation to a great organization that saves lives every day. Keep those kids active and Have a great Holiday Season.

“PUTTING A FACE ON ANTI-BULLYING”

PURDUE MASTER GARDENERS COMMUNITY GRANT Last May, Mrs. Robbins was awarded a $250 Community Grant by the Porter County Master Gardeners. Mrs.Robbins had help from Mrs. Gregorczyk, Miss Rublacava, and Mrs. Marshall to plant the beautiful mums in Mrs. Linders Memorial courtyard garden and at the school entrances. Mrs. Robbins’ and Mrs.Sobek’s High Abilities Math classes planted over 200 Spring bulbs in the gardens. Mrs. Barton and Mrs. Robbins planted another 100 bulbs. The students can't wait to see the beautiful gardens in the Spring.
