A total of 24 attended, ranging from students in Grade 4 of the school up to adults in their 70s. The school also had some visitors this week, as the Parry Sound Hunters and Anglers group came in and gave the school various tree seedlings for the students to plant at their home or around the school. Another MacTier business will be opening up sometime soon. This business will be a live bait and tackle shop as well as an empty beer and liquor bottle return depot. New owner Jay Miller is proceeding with construction at 583 High St. MacTier Community Policing will be hosting a fundraising car wash on Saturday, May 16. This will occur at the MacTier Public School area from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds from this go towards youth hockey in the fall and winter. Be sure to get out and support this. The District of Muskoka public works department will be conducting a hydrant and main flushing program from May 10 to June 7 in MacTier. This procedure will help remove accumu- lated rust from the mains. If you have any prob- lems or questions, please call 1-800-281-3483. The MacTier Public Library, as of May 21, changes over to summer hours: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 1p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays. By the way, does anyone know what is happening with the old library? Lots of sales are lining up for the holi- day weekend. There is a used book sale from 9 a.m. to to 2 p.m. across the street from MacTier Foodland on Saturday, May 16. And there is another sale of baking and articles – the MacTier-Foots Bay United Church women are holding a sale at 454 High St. from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. I’m sure if you drive about the town you will find other sales too. The MacTier Curling Club men’s horseshoe league gets underway this week. Ten teams of three each are entered and will take up all five pits at the club. No word as yet on whether ladies shuffleboard will begin. The MacTier Railroad Museum Com- mittee will start opening the museum on Saturdays, beginning this weekend. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On other days it can be open by appointment, call 375-2860. As we all know, this weekend will be busy with tourists and cottagers. The black flies have not arrived in force as yet because of the cool weather. Anyway, to all, be sure and have a great and safe weekend. Again, don’t drink and drive whether on the road or the water.
