Year in Review: 2006The rst year of Global Youth Fund was devoted to getting the organization properly set up and recognized. Here are the major milestones:

Charity StatusWith help from our law rm, Bull, Housser & Tupper , we applied for charityregistration and was granted charity status in August 2006. This opens thedoor to nancial support from foundations and many corporations.

Funding & SupportOur charity status allowed us to apply and receive two grants from two strong

advocates of youth - The Steve Nash Foundation and the VancouverFoundation . We are grateful to both institutions for being the rst funders ofour young organization.

In addition, we are excited to have the Creative Visions Foundation providescal sponsorship in the U.S. and to have HellerEhrman adopt us as a pro bono client.

Last but not least, we are grateful beyond words to our rst individual donors:Elaine Munro, Amy & Jon Turteltaub, Bruce Johnson, and Brooke Kuhn.

Global Youth Fund s This I BelieveWe launched our very rst program, This I Believe - an international essayproject that promotes global dialogue and peer-to-peer learning among youth.Through word-of-mouth alone, we are receiving essays daily from youngpeople in 25 countries !

Looking Forward: 2007The Pilot Year

Global Youth Fund s second year - 2007 - will be its dening moment. We will puttheory into practice and begin work on harnessing the collective wisdom of youth forpositive change.

We will focus our work in the following areas:

Changemakers Leadership ProgramGYF s core program, Changemakers will guide youth in a unique process to designand select their own campaign for global change - one that leads to concrete and

measurable change. Through meaningful dialogue and debate, they will help oneanother explore common challenges and solutions, and set collective priorities. Theprogram will expose youth to a powerful model of leadership for our globalized world.

This I Believe Essay ProjectWith grants from the Steven Nash and Vancouver foundations, GYF will scale up ThisI Believe and engage more youth in the essay project. We will build a new website toallow for more submissions, and launch a podcast to showcase high-qualityrecordings of the best essays.

PartnershipsGYF will forge strong partnerships in the new year with appropriate educationalinstitutions, non-prot organizations, and corporations to advance our mission. Thesepartnerships will be the key to our success - and our future sustainability.

We look forward to reporting back next year!
