Creative and Performing Arts Extravaganza Across the school students and staff are engaged in our school musical preparation. Father’s Day This coming Sunday 2nd September is Father’s Day. Thanks to our P&C for their fabulous work in ensur-ing our community had an opportunity to purchase a gift for a special father figure in their lives. Thanks also to the volunteers who ran the stalls and supported the P&C in organising the gifts. It was a suc-cessful fundraiser.

SRC have created a small flyer that will be sent home with an envelope for money to be placed and returned directly to school

Families have the option to donate money towards buying a bale of hay or 11500 litres of water

Envelopes or ‘on the spot’ donations be collected at the dona-tions table that will be set up in the office foyer during Week 7

If a family contributes any amount, their name will be written on an image of a bale of hay or water container and be placed on our Wall of Thanks, which will also be in the foyer.

The goal set by the SRC is $1000 This is not only an extremely worthy cause but an opportunity for the SRC to develop their leadership skills and gain confidence from working towards a group goal. Donations will go to the Buy a Bale cam-paign at the following link https://www.buyabale.com.au/

Homework review – Stage 1, Stage 2 & Stage 3 This year our school is conducting a review of homework practice (homework trial) to determine fu-ture directions in relation to homework policy for the 2018-2020 School Plan cycle. The School Lead-ership Team is currently reviewing feedback surveys collected from students, parents and teachers regarding the trial. As part of our commitment to improving homework practices we will share this feedback with our school community and finalise our new policy and practices, in Term 4. In the in-terim, homework will continue to be in a combination of traditional and alternative formats for Stage 1, 2 and 3. Cantabile Music Festival Members of our choir will be performing at the Sydney Opera House in the Cantabile Music Festival on Thursday. We wish all our students attending a wonderful and enjoyable experience. This is valua-ble learning as student academic and social success is strongly linked to accessing rich and diverse extra‐curricular opportunities. We thank Miss Zuccali, Miss Healy and Mr Debnam for their dedica-tion and contribution to performing arts at this high level. Welcome back Mrs Prouty We welcome Chris Prouty back from leave this week, we’ve missed her, and her work in connecting families and community to the school. We know that parents, staff and community have enjoyed reconnecting with Chris across the week. Stage 3 Excursion On Wednesday Stage 3 went to the Botanic Gardens. We investigated the differ-ent environments in which plants live and the adaptations that help them to survive. We also participated in an Aboriginal Garden Tour and learnt about plants that Aboriginal people used for survival. Our tour guides were Terry and Sumatra and they were very knowledgeable. They showed us a plant that could be used like a whistle to scare snakes away, trees that could be used as medicine, to clean skin or to catch fish. We also got to explore aboriginal weapons for hunting and experience their dance culture. It was a very educational day that helped us un-derstand traditional land management and modern sustainability better. By Winona and Juliet
