Dear Families,
Student Reports
As you know this year we have changed our approach to reporting and each term
we are reporting to parents. The reports will be sent home in a display folder
with work samples included. We are asking that you please return the folder after
you have viewed it. Each term we will add more work samples and further
reports. At the end of 2019, you and your child will have a comprehensive sample
of your child’s growth and achievements to look back on and celebrate.
You will be given an additional copy of the term report that you may retain at
home. May I suggest you take photos of the work samples if you wish to share
them with other family member’s. Please return the folders by Thursday July 4.
We are always happy to listen to your feedback on our new reporting system.
Parent Teacher Interviews.
Attached to this newsletter is the letter for Parent – Teacher Interviews. These
will be held on Thursday 4th July between 1-4 pm. Please return the tear-off slip
with your chosen session time and your child’s teacher will collate the requests
and advise you of your allocated time.

19 June 2019 Term 2 Week 8
OV Athletics Carnival
By now all students that are eligible for the Orara Valley Athletics Carnival have been given a permission
note with the relevant details of the events that they can compete in. These must be returned to the school
along with the $2.00 PSSA Levy.
Eisteddfod
Congratulations must go to our hardworking group of children that participated in both the Eisteddfod and
the Central Dance. While they didn’t win any official prizes at the Eisteddfod their enjoyment of the event
was the highlight of the groups.
Central Dance
Congratulations must go to our dance group! Once again they wowed the crowd when they performed spectacularly at the Central Dance Festival at the Coffs Harbour CEX last night, joining approximately 400 students from many schools across the region. It was a huge day and our students’ behaviour was exemplary. We should be incredibly proud of these students and the way they represented our community. Thank you to Mr Cohen for his invaluable input and make up skills. Thanks must also go to Amanda Mayled for keeping us both sane backstage!
1/2M Excursion
On Monday the children from 1/2M are enjoying a visit to Coffs Harbour and Emerald Beach, to add to their
knowledge learnt this term about the Solitary Island lighthouse. We hope the weather is kind to them and
they have a fabulous day.
Progress Award/Lego League Assembly
Our last assembly for the term will be Wednesday 3rd July. At this assembly the Yr 1-3 children, who are
participating in the Lego League competition next term, will showcase the learning that they have done so
far. Also at this assembly a child will receive the Term 2 Progress award.
Reward Day
End of term Reward Day will be held on Thursday 4 July. We will be having an early BBQ lunch at the park
before returning to school for the Parent-Teacher interviews. This will NOT be a mufti day, please send
them in their school uniform. Please also remind your children that anyone who has been suspended this
term or who has been in the planning room more than two times is not eligible to attend.
Woolworths Earn and Learn
The Woolworths Earn and Learn program has commenced and our school has registered to participate. We
were able to buy some great resources for our students last year with the rewards earned. We now have
bins in place at Woolgoolga, Coffs Park Avenue, the Plaza, Grafton & Toormina as well as the canteen and
school office. Thank you to Judith and Jennie for co-ordinating this fundraiser. Start collecting!
Chicken Pox
Recently two of our children went to Stewart House in Sydney with a group of children from the North
Coast. We have had notification that another child in the group has been diagnosed with chicken pox. We
have notified the parents/carers of the two children concerned that were with the group and have given
them information regarding the Chicken Pox. We have NOT had any children at our school diagnosed with
the disease. An information brochure regarding chicken pox is attached to this newsletter.
