Attendance(we decided to stay in the classroom)
Icebreakers: Persons
• Have students seat each other in alphabetical order
– Gets students to learn each others’ names
• Students interview each other
– Sheets with questions for pairs to ask each other
– Some students share their interviews with the class, introducing their interviewees
Icebreakers: Science
• Brainstorm how to measure the height of the school building with limited equipment
– Gets them working together
– Also helps the teacher see current math and reasoning levels
• Discussion questions pertinent to science
– For example, dogma vs. scientific method – how we know things in science
Documentation Ideas
• Two-pocket folder or another sort that holds work and must remain in the classroom
• A true lab notebook for full inquiry-based labs
• Three-hole punch things and require everything to be placed in a binder
• Use a full, pre-bound lab book for students to do their lab work
