Today we begin the year of Grace

2019 with the First Sunday of Advent; a new

year in the life of the Church. While we begin

one of the most beautiful seasons,

celebrating Advent is very difficult to enter

into, and reflect upon that which we are

celebrating. The civil distractions are many:

project deadlines, shopping, mailings,

exams and celebrations, to name a few.

To receive the fruits of this season, Advent

requires extra attention.

For the first two full weeks of Advent our

attention is focused on the second coming of

Christ (to commemorate his first coming

begins on Dec. 17th). As we heard in today’s

gospel, if we are vigilant in our daily lives,

Jesus’ second coming will bring our

long-awaited redemption. May we do our part

each day so that we will be ready.

Hoy comenzamos el Año de Gracia

2019 con el primer domingo de

Advenimiento; Un nuevo año en la vida de

la Iglesia. Si bien comienza una de las

estaciones más hermosas, celebrar el

Adviento es muy difícil de participar y

reflexionar sobre aquello que estamos

celebrando. Las distracciones civiles son

muchas: fechas límite de proyectos,

compras, correos, exámenes y celebraciones,

por nombrar algunos. Para recibir los frutos

de esta temporada, el Adviento requiere

atención extra.

Durante las primeras dos semanas

completas de Adviento, nuestra atención se

centra en la segunda venida de Cristo (para

conmemorar su primera venida que

comienza el 17 de diciembre). Como

escuchamos en el evangelio de hoy, si

estamos atentos en nuestras vidas diarias,

la segunda venida de Jesús traerá nuestra

esperada redención. Que hagamos

nuestra parte cada día para estar listos.
