02.Our locationStudy with us in one ofthe worlds most excitingand tolerant cities. Ourschools are in Holborn,in the heart of London.

HolbornHolborn is minutes from the worldfamous Covent Garden Market, whichis a must-visit. A bit touristy, but still well

    worth it.

The amazing Royal Opera House isa short walk from our front door,as is the English National Opera.Theatre Land is a bit further, but still

    very walkable. Every year, legendary

stars like Kevin Spacey and Jude Lawappear on the London stage. Manyof the worlds leading playwrights havetheir premieres here.

Cinemas? There are loads. Take yourpick. As for restaurants? Wed needa whole new section as there are somany. Rest assured there are eatingspots to suit every taste and everybudget.

LondonAs the worlds cultural capital and theplanets most visited metropolis, Londonis truly the Queen of Cities. In tandem

with New York, it is the centre of worldfinance and has the fifth-largestmetropolitan area GDP on Earth andthe largest in Europe.

But you dont need statistics to knowwhy London is so great, do you? Can

you even remember a time whenyou hadnt heard about London? Andwhat do you think of when you hearthe name? Well, everyone has theirown answer to that question: the reddouble-decker buses, the Victorian fogof Sherlock Holmes, the annual tennisbanquet of Wimbledon, the splendourand pageantry of our Royalcelebrations, the finest theatre andshows this side of Broadway, ourpassion for fashion, Swinging London, the Beatles at Abbey Road, themuseums and galleries which are theenvy of the world, the theatre of dreamsthat is Wembley Stadium, the coolnessof Camden Town, the charm of NottingHill the list just goes on and on and

we havent even mentioned Hyde Park, the London Eye or Big Ben!

But London is so much more than allof that. The energy and excitement ofthe city is simply impossible to put into

words. When youre here you justknow youre at the centre of the worldand thats why those of us who live herenever want to leave. We are London,

we are proud; we keep calm andwe carry on. Come visit us and seefor yourself!

6.Ok, so you know thatThe English Studio is rightin the heart of London, with world famousattractions like TheBritish Museum,Shaftesbury Avenue,

Covent Garden andCamden Town righton our doorstep. However, at The EnglishStudio we areconnoisseurs of all thehidden jewels in the city, the places which areonly known to those inthe know. Here are afew examples of somemust-see places all ofwhich are no more thana hop, skip and jumpfrom The English Studio!

Bradleys Spanish Bar42-44, Hanway StreetW1T 1UTFive minutes walk from our frontdoor is Hanway Street; a curved lanethat is used by Cockney cabbieslooking for a short cut between OxfordStreet and Tottenham Court Road.It also boasts some really cool vintage

vinyl shops and one or two Spanishrestaurants. But its this bar which has

been a big favourite among LondonsBohemian community since theswinging 60s and has a wonderfully

warm and friendly atmosphere. An oldstyle jukebox has a selection of classictracks from the last five decades(literally not one bad record on there)and best of all, if youre Spanish anda little homesick a great selectionof Spanish beers on tap.

Sicilian AvenueWC1ALondons architecture is one of thecitys main treasures because of itsincredible variety. From the classicsplendour of Saint Pauls and

Westminster to cutting-edge skyscraperslike The Shard, were spoilt for choicehere! Just around the corner fromour school is Sicilian Avenue, apedestrianised shopping and diningthoroughfare designed in 1910 byRoger Worley to emulate the Italianstyle. From the Corinthian columns tothe charming terrazza-style cafs thatline the avenue, and the splendidarchitectural features to savour when

you look up, (By the way, if youre alover of fine buildings you shouldalways look up in London), this

terracotta-dressed oasis is the perfectspot to stop and watch the worldgo by.

Pied Bull YardWC1A 2JRAs youre walking towards our centrein Bloomsbury Square, you could

very easily walk past this little alleyopening, but youd be missing a treat.

Why? Well, this is the entrance to PiedBull Yard, which is one of Bloomsburysgreat concealed treasures. In additionto the contemporary art galleries, youhave the caf of the world-famousCordon Bleu school, where the GordonRamsays and Heston Blumenthalsof the future are learning andhoning their yummy craft. Not only that, but you also have The London ReviewBookshop, which is a bibliophiles

paradise: friendly, knowledgeable staffare always on hand to help you findexactly what you need (and if yourelucky, they might even sell you one ofthe copies that many authors makea point of signing for them.)

Lincolns Inn FieldsWC2AWalk out the front door of our Holborncentre, cross the road and after a 30

second stroll through the alley knownas Gate Street, you will find yourselfin Lincolns Inn Fields, Londons largestpublic square. At one end is thegorgeous Lincolns Inn. It looks a bit likea scaled-down version of Hogwarts(and in fact, Lincolns Inn Fieldsfeatures in the Harry Potter films asit was the location of 12 GrimmauldPlace, the home of Sirius Black).

And if the weather isnt nice enoughto join the multitude of lawyers fromthe Inns and students from the nearbyLondon School of Economics baskingon the grass, you can always pop intoanother less-celebrated gem, Sir JohnSoanes Museum, a maze-like Aladdinscave at number 13...

The Horse HospitalHerbrand Street and ColonnadeWC1If youre any way interested in theavant garde, the cutting edge and theunderground arts, this really is amust-visit place. Its tucked away ina charming cobbled mews only fiveminutes walk from the front door ofThe English Studio. Regular exhibitions, talks and screenings of documentaries

and film buff fare that you wont catchat the multiplex all add up to making itworth your while to saunter up fromthe school and check it out. For regularupdates on whats going on, visit:

7.We know that TheEnglish Studio is oneof the best places inLondon to study English. But dont take our wordfor it. Read what ourformer students have

    to say.

Name: Catalina Coley Age: 31 From:Colombia I like to think that I am

going places. Before I cameto the UK, I set up my own clothingcompany in Colombia. I realised verysoon that in order to grow my businessin the way I want to I would have to dobusiness with people from lots ofdifferent markets. Of course the United

States is where most of my clients arebased, but Id been to the States a fewtimes before and Id always dreamedof coming to London.

I love it here! Every day there issomething new and exciting for meto see, hear or taste. The best thingabout living here is meeting so manydifferent people from all over the worldand I have found this fascinating. They say that travel, broadens themind well thats certainly true inLondons case.

The English Studio is great because notonly do the teachers give usexcellent lessons which will help uspass our exams, but they also teach usreal English that we are likely to hearor likely to need in our daily lives in thecity. This has helped me so much inintegrating and enjoying my time here.

I would advise anyone whosthinking of coming to study English inLondon to come to The English Studio. My English has improved by twoCEFR levels since Ive been hereand Ive also made some great friends.

Name: Nazife Imeri Age: 24 From:Austria A friend recommended

the English Studio to meand from the moment I arrived I knewI wouldnt be disappointed. The staff atreception were very helpful and theyreally made a great effort to help me.They answered all my questions (andI had a lot of questions to ask!) thismade me feel both very welcome and

    very comfortable.

When I went to my first class, therewas a great atmosphere, but moreimportant than that, I started to noticequite quickly that I was really learninga lot. This is crucial to me because if Imgoing to join a Cambridge ExamPreparation Course, then I need toknow that the teacher is an expert whoreally knows what they are talkingabout and that I am being preparedfor success! I feel this very strongly with

    my teacher

Right now, I am getting ready todo the the CAE back home in Austria. This exam is essential for me because,I want to work in the field of privatebanking and when Im applying forjobs, having a world-recognisedEnglish qualification is a must! I woulddefinitely recommend The EnglishStudio!

Name: Gustavo Almeida Age: 28 From:Brazil An agent in Brazil

recommended TheEnglish Studio to me and Im reallyhappy that I chose the school. Im alsoreally happy that I came to London!I work as a personal trainer at FitnessFirst and in my job I get to meet lots ofreally interesting people, but Ive madegreat friends from all over the worldat the school. I have done three termshere and my teachers have all beengreat. I love it at work when the peopleI train tell me how much my Englishhas improved. That is all thanks to myclasses at ES. Im now preparing for theIELTS because I would like to study for

    a Masters in Physiology here.

I love London, I love the school andI would strongly recommend theexperience of coming here andstudying to anyone...
