I hope you are warm, your home is decorated, and all of your purchases have been made. If so, sit back by the fire, drink a cup of hot chocolate, and watch an old Christmas movie. Wishful thinking, you say? I understand. I want to tell our Senior Singers how much we as a church family enjoyed their Christmas presentation through song last week. It was awesome. You guys are so faithful and your leadership is amazing. Thank you. This Sunday morning I will begin a new series - a study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. This is a great word for us. I hope you will read along with me throughout the week in preparation for each Sunday’s message. As always, if you are unable to join us on Sunday morning, you can listen online at www.firstlyman.org . Let me conclude my letter with a prayer from Ephesians 1. “Father, I thank you for the faithful saints of First Baptist Lyman. O God of our Lord Jesus Christ, Father of glory, give to each of your people a spirit of wisdom and revelation in their knowledge of You. Open the eyes of their hearts that they may be enlightened, so that they may more fully know the hope of Your calling upon their lives. Help them to know the riches of glory through their inheritance in Christ. Allow them to experience the surpassing greatness of Your power. These things all believers may know through Christ.” God bless! Pastor Scott HOLIDAY SCHEDULE No Sunday PM services on: Dec. 12 Dec. 19 Dec. 26 No Wednesday evening activities: Dec. 22 Dec. 29

Holy cow it is cold Christmastime is officially here I donrsquot know

about you but this is my favorite time of the yearmdashthe trees the

lights and yes even the cold Well maybe not the cold itself but

rather the glorious feeling of walking in to a warm home at the end

of the day It kind of makes me think about life a little bit The cold often startles

usmdashafter a while (or maybe quite quickly) it makes us uncomfortable But if we

never had to experience something uncomfortable I wonder if we would ever

appreciate the blessings of refuge peace and security For many people this

holiday season is anything but a time of peace and refuge I wonder what would

happen if we would take a few minutes out in the coldmdashout of our comfort

zonesmdashto maybe make someonersquos season a little more tolerable as we bring the

warmth of Christ to him or her I hope these next few weeks are some incredible

ones for your familymdashand I hope you will have many opportunities to show the

kingdom that has already begun and that is coming in full force soon God bless
