CANTEEN NEWS

URGENT - HELPER NEEDED FOR CANTEEN TOMORROW

Sushi day will still go ahead this week! Please get your order forms/money and online orders in before 10am on Wednesday, so that I can collate and order the rolls from Samurai Sushi in Murwillumbah.

We have been asked by the P&C to stop supplying the little plastic soy sauce fish, so I will be running our stock out and the students will be able to use the soy sauce I have available in the canteen. We will also have Kewpie mayonnaise available for free.

Thanks, Danni - Canteen Co-ordinator

CANTEEN ROSTER - Term 1 HELPER NEEDED

The Family Fun Fair that was due to take place this Friday the 20th of March has been postponed until further notice. Schools have been directed to cease any non-essential events and activities as part of measures to contain Covid-19 (Coronavirus). Whilst we are disappointed, we know the community will understand that we’re doing everything we can to comply with the best advice from NSW Health.

BUT don’t worry, our fantastic raffle will still be drawn this Friday and our Canteen Sushi day will also go ahead.

Please return your raffle tickets by Thursday 19/3.

Thanks for your understanding, Uki Public School P&C

Mindfulness Benefits to Learning

Mindfulness practice benefits learners in two important ways:

1. Mindfulness can settle and calm students, reducing behavioural challenges.

2. Mindfulness strengthens areas of the brain associated with learning, thinking and memory.

These benefits are backed up by research, including a study by Smiling Mind in schools. Their research, conducted with nearly 2000 students, showed Smiling Mind improves sleep, wellbeing, managing emotions, concentration and classroom behaviour.
