Volunteering to HelpDragonflight is a volunteer organization and we need your help to put onthe convention. Many people help by running games and other eventswhile others help by working at registration, operations, or the gamelibrary. Not only are you helping to put on a great convention, there areother benefits to volunteering.

Staff volunteers (people working in non-game activities such asregistration):

• If you work 2.5 hours you get a free premium Dragonflight lanyard.

•  If you work 5 hours, you get a free Dragonflight convention t-shirt ortote bag.*

• If you work 10 hours you get your admission refunded.*

•  If you work 20 hours you get a lanyard, t-shirt and your admissionrefunded.*

Staff volunteers are responsible for getting a signature from the staffmanager or event coordinator of the area in which they work.

*The admission refund is only for the convention fee and will not includethe $10 Dragonflight membership fee, hotel or other fees. Only the 20hour level includes all the individual items. T-shirt and tote bag rewardsare limited to quantity and sizes on hand at the convention.

* The admission refund is only for the convention fee and will not includethe $10 Dragonflight membership fee, hotel or other fees. T-shirt andtote bag rewards are limited to quantity and sizes on hand.

Event Sign-UpWe ask that you only sign up for one event per time block, unless one ofthe events is fuzzy in duration (e.g., a tournament). Jumping out of ongoingevents to play another is considered very bad form.

Sign-up only guarantees a person the right to attend an event if they showup at the event within 5 minutes of the event's listed starting time. Peoplewho signed up will be admitted first to the event, then people withalternate sign-ups, followed by others on a first come, first served basis.

Some events do not require sign-up. For these events you only need toshow up since they usually have room for everyone who wants to attend. An orange cone on the table top or a balloon signifies that the event islooking for additional players.

Time BlocksThe convention is divided into 2-hour time blocks with a half-hour breakbetween. Many games, especially RPGs, run for 2 or more time blocks. When scheduling your event or looking at an event you wish to participatein, keep in mind how many time blocks are needed for the event. Thefollowing chart will help you decide which time blocks are available.

EVENTSEvents are listed grouped by time block. In each time block they are sortedby event type and then reference code.

Event NumberingThe first letter is the time block of when the event starts. The secondletter is the event type:

B - Board GamesC - Computer/Console GamesD - Card GamesG - General/Other (e.g., workshops, panels)L - Live-Action Role-PlayM - Miniatures GamesR - Role-Playing GamesW - Wargames

The third portion, the number, is a unique reference code for the event. Thus, an event with a code HB-265 starts in time block "H" and is a boardgames ("B") event with number 265. Event descriptions have beenshortened to 350 characters or less; for full descriptions, see the website.

If a table is displaying an orange cone (like a small traffic cone!) or balloon,it means the host is still looking for players.

If you find yourself without a game and are looking for something todo, check out the open gaming areas for a pick-up game or the VideoRoom for movies. Some events such as the Story Game Lounge, PathfinderRole Playing Society, and Axis & Allies will be running continuouslythroughout the convention. Several dealers will be offeringdemonstrations of various games for drop-in players. Look also for theminiatures painting workshops.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

How much do you know about Dragonflight? If you're reading this, chances are, you know at least a little something aboutDragonflight. Many of our attendees have been coming to our gamingconvention for a long time. You probably know that we've been doing thisevery year for the last thirty-six years.

But did you know that Dragonflight is a not-for-profit corporation? Our statedmission is to promote the hobby that we love in the greater Seattle area. Fordecades, Dragonflight has done exactly that, a labor of love that we gladlyundertake without thought of monetary gain. We do this, because, like manyof you, we were into "tabletop" before it was called that, and way before itwas cool.

If you're new to the tabletop scene, we welcome you and congratulate you ondiscovering the pastime that we love, and we look forward to sharing it withyou.

Did you know that Dragonflight is more than just an annual convention? Weare a corporation that also runs the only premium gaming club in the Seattlearea: Metro Seattle Gamers. "MSG" is a great way for us to share and fosterthe hobby all year long, and features 24 hour access to club members, in-progress game storage (so you can pause your game and put it on a shelfwithout having to put it back in its box), and friendly gamers. We hope you'llswing by and check it out someday. You can find out more by going tometroseattlegamers.org. It's great whether you like newer euro games, old-school tabletop tactics, roleplaying, or any other kind of game.

Did you know that you are Dragonflight? As a paying convention attendee, you are a member of the Dragonflight organization. Part of your ticket pricepays for your membership. As a member, you have a say in what we do, solet us know what you think, and consider coming to our annual meeting, which will be at the convention, on Saturday, at 6pm, in the open gamingarea.

At the meeting, you can voice your suggestions, ask us questions, and get apeak into how your convention is run, and you can meet the candidates whoare running for positions on the board of directors. That way, you'll be able todecide for whom to vote.

Thank you for attending, and thank you for helping us nurture and supportthe greatest hobby in the world. Now go have fun!
