Check the Heritage website, the new website, the google drive, ask a friend, THEN email or send a Remind text to Shanker. Try to reduce the number of emails by submitting your work through the google forms on the new website and uploading files to the google drive folder with your name on it. Mrs. Shanker is eternally grateful for your efforts in this!!! Have you checked your “Teacher Feedback – Your Name” document that is in your turn in google drive folder? This is where I will write feedback on all assignment that I feel like you may need to hear a response. If it was perfect or easy, I may not write anything! This week, I’d like everyone to get caught up. Progress Reports are going out VERY soon, so if you have any late work, please make sure to turn it in to your google drive folder under the correct week. Mrs. Shanker will check it every 4-7 days. Composer Worksheet: This week you will learn about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. - Turn In: The best way to answer the questions is to go to the new website and type your answers directly into the google form. o https://sites.google.com/view/hhschoir-vocalmusic - There are also videos on the new website of Mozart’s most famous works. I’d still like 30 minutes of practice time per week, but now I’m opening up what you are practicing. § There is no need to practice our current repertoire since our concerts are indefinitely postponed. § Those of you who are returning to choir next year, may wish to practice “New Beginnings” because we do sing that every Spring Concert. The “Hallelujah Chorus” is also a standard for every Winter Concert. § I will try to put some new songs up soon to start learning music early for the fall but I first have to figure out who is in which choir and singing which part. (coming soon!) § If you want to practice something as a solo piece for next year’s showcases or you want to start an a cappella group with your friends, or you want to learn a barbershop tag off of YouTube, whatever it is, I’m excited for you! I want you to have the joy of music in your life during this really hard time. Keep singing! § Write in whatever the song is into your log along with how many minutes you practiced and on which days. Then tell me about how it went at the bottom. These are reflection questions to help you think critically about what stage you are at now and what you need to do to improve.

Mrs. Shanker is eternally grateful for your efforts in this!!!

Have you checked your “Teacher Feedback – Your Name” document that is in your turn

in google drive folder? This is where I will write feedback on all assignment that I feel like you may need to hear a response. If it was perfect or easy, I may not write anything!

This week, I’d like everyone to get caught up. Progress Reports are going out VERY

soon, so if you have any late work, please make sure to turn it in to your google drive folder under the correct week.

Listen and enjoy!

o “Ave Verum Corpus” o 12 Variations of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” o “Queen of the Night” from The Magic Flute o “Dies Irae” from Requiem

Practice Log:

§ This week is a little different. I’d still like 30 minutes of practice time per week, but now I’m opening up what you are practicing.

§ There is no need to practice our current repertoire since our concerts are indefinitely postponed. § Those of you who are returning to choir next year, may wish to practice “New Beginnings”

because we do sing that every Spring Concert. The “Hallelujah Chorus” is also a standard for every Winter Concert.

§ I will try to put some new songs up soon to start learning music early for the fall but I first have to figure out who is in which choir and singing which part. (coming soon!)

§ If you want to practice something as a solo piece for next year’s showcases or you want to start an a cappella group with your friends, or you want to learn a barbershop tag off of YouTube, whatever it is, I’m excited for you!

§ SENIORS: You should be learning “There Will Be Rest” for the Senior Song which we are planning to record everyone individually on Sound Trap and then compile into a virtual ensemble with the band for your graduation ceremony. The learning tracks and sheet music are in the google drive in the “Senior Song 2020” folder which I have already shared with you.

FIRST YEARS - Notation Unit 3: Lesson 4 – Grand Staff and the Piano with Octave Numbers

- First, a few things to keep in mind: o Note names should always be written in capital letters. o When the worksheet has a line where you are supposed to write what letter name a

note is, it’s a good idea to make “E” float a little bit above that line so the bottom line of the E doesn’t disappear into the printed line which would make the letter look like an “F”.

o Worksheets are going to start mixing treble and bass clef on a page and you need to make sure you check your clef before thinking of your acronyms and note names.

o Also, the Unit 3 with Quizzes packet that I put in the google drive folder early for you guys is going to have some pages that I have decided to skip. You’re welcome.

- There are several instructional videos on the new website. Please watch them and read through the lesson pages and take notes. If you get stuck, please reach out for help. Here are the video links if you want to type it:

o Lessons 1-3 Review and a bit about the Grand Staff: https://youtu.be/qhnc13MCy-c o Middle C: https://youtu.be/I39Poqbu3Ik o What is an octave?: https://youtu.be/fV-p9n7upMc o Octave Numbers: https://youtu.be/1YglN78gLRo

- Please read ALL the instructions on the piano page carefully. People often skip a step here. Use whatever coloring utensils you may have available. Substituting colors is acceptable if you do not have a color. Just write down what the substitution is in the key.

- You will need to complete page 37 as well as Quiz 33 by physically writing/coloring on the page. Then take a picture or scan to turn in and upload them into your personal google drive turn in folder “P2 – Your Name”.

SECOND YEARS – Sight Reading Factory (Aidan, Brian, Ivan, Michael, Sharvin, Ysaach)

- GET CAUGHT UP!!! - No new assignment this week. Progress Reports are going out VERY soon, so please catch up

in this area! Your grades are suffering if you do nothing. Sound Trap:

- GET CAUGHT UP!!! - Feedback for Sound Trap projects can be found in your google drive folder. - You can save your project/assignment and Mrs. Shanker will be able to see it and grade it as

long as she is listed as a collaborator. Check this if you did the work but don’t have a grade!

Turn In Checklist: (All work is due on the following Monday, May 11th.) - Create a “Week 5” folder within your turn in google drive folder “P2 – Name” and make sure

your work is sorted into the correct folder so Mrs. Shanker can find it and grade it easily. o Please name your files with the name of the assignment and your name.

- Composer: Mozart Worksheet – Type Answers on Google Form on New Website - Practice Log with at least 30 minutes of practice done. – Put in Google Drive folder. - FIRST YEARS: Notation Unit 3 Lesson 4 page 37 and Quiz 33– Put in Google Drive folder. - SECOND YEARS: Get caught up on SRF!!! - Sound Trap: Get caught up!

Contact Mrs. Shanker with:

- REMIND - E-MAIL – Best email is: [email protected]

o Always include your name first and last and which class you are in.
