2020: What a Year, Right?

First things first: Fill out your ACEP20 user profile!

One of the coolest aspects of transitioning to a virtual event is that you can customize your content into an experience that’s just right for you. But the only way we can do that is if you take the time to fill in your profile and tell us what you like.

The first time you log in to the ACEP20 platform, a profile box will appear that prompts you to choose areas of interest. Using those interests, we can suggest sessions, events and exhibits that align with your picks. The ACEP20 schedule is packed and we know it can be hard to narrow down your options, so we hope this customization feature helps you build an itinerary that’s just right for you!

Just like the badge ribbons at our in-person event, the profile allows you to add two digital ribbons to indicate your involvement and your proudest roles at ACEP, such as Member, New FACEP, EMF Donor, NEMPAC Donor and more.

What You Need to Know

How to claim CME. The 22 hours of live content can be claimed immediately following the conclusion of the event, commensurate with your participation. The 250+ hours of on-demand content will also be available starting Oct. 26. Extended access. This year has been so unpredictable; we know you need a flexible format. If for some reason you can’t participate live, you’ll have access to the 250+ CME courses for three years. Special guest speakers. Presentations from Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Laurie Santos — as well as the career resources and exhibitor access — will be available for 90 days after the event. Dr. Ibram X. Kendi’s presentation will be available for 30 days.

Due to the personal and emotional nature of Theater of War for the Emergency Medicine Community, it will not be recorded and will not be available later on the ACEP20

platform. It is a one-time only, live performance.

Oct. 24-25: ACEP Council MeetingOct. 26-29: ACEP Scientific Assembly

Since the beginning of this pandemic, you have risen to the occasion. It’s been an unprecedented year of pivots, problem-solving and perseverance.

In that spirit of innovation, ACEP has shifted its course to give you a virtual conference that reimagines all the things you love about Scientific Assembly – the education, the events, the friendships – into an interactive experience that allows emergency health care professionals to participate safely from all over the world.

We may be separate, but we are in this together.

Preview the platform on pages 4 and 5.

Come and go to the live events.

View hundreds of on-demand courses on your own schedule.

Visit the Connect tab for the fun social stuff (see pages 7 and 8).

Know that 30-minute sessions will be 25 minutes with 5 minutes of Q&A with faculty. One hour sessions will be 50 minutes with 10 minutes of Q&A with faculty.

Forget boring Zoom calls. Instead, you get to zoom around this interactive platform!

Platform Preview

We encourage you to explore the platform prior to the start of the conference to familiarize yourself with it, just like you would with our normal giant convention center locations.

The primary navigation menu is pretty straightforward. It contains most of what you would experience at our in-person Scientific Assembly: Course offerings, extra education opportunities, featured events, career center, social events and the wellness area.

Make sure you notice the More on the top of the navigation. Clicking there reveals an

extra menu with helpful links to the schedule, Job & Fellowship Fair, award winners,

attendee list and more.

(Reminder: If it’s your first time logging in, we highly encourage you to complete your user profile so you can receive customized content suggestions. See page 3 for more details.)

Current live content will be featured in the middle.

You’ll see menus at the top and left.

When you click through to CME courses from the

main navigation, you’ll see recommended courses

and be able to search and filter the full catalog by

topic, speaker or keyword. Note the icons for each

course. If it’s live, you will see a scheduled time. If it’s on demand, watch whenever you’re ready.

▲ ▲

The schedule page allows you to filter and search all ACEP20 courses and events. You can quickly navigate to My Schedule, Main Stage, Panels and Breakout Sessions if you aren’t searching for anything specific.

(continued on next page)

Page 5: DIGITAL PROGRAM - acep.org

ACEP20 Digital Program || 5

Scrolling down on the homepage, you’ll always see the Main Stage events front and center. This is where you’ll access the keynote sessions with our special guests Dr. Anthony Fauci; Ibram X. Kendi, PhD and Laurie Santos, PhD, and other featured events.

Continue down the page to see What’s Happening Now — a helpful section to find some hidden gems you may not have on your itinerary, so you can jump right into a session. It will be updated constantly; check back often.

Scroll a bit farther to find Recommended For You. This is your customized content, assuming you filled out your user profile so we could tailor these suggestions for you. If not, see page 3 for more information on why this is so important for maximizing your experience.

Quality ACEP Quality is driving digital transformation by providing expertise in five key areas:• CEDR: The Clinical Emergency

Data Registry (CEDR) is a QCDR created to support EM quality metrics and CMS-required QPP

• EQUAL: Emergency Quality Network (E-QUAL) is a virtual learning community that engages emergency clinicians and leverages emergency departments to reduce cost, improve clinical outcomes and coordinate care

• Quality Measures: Quality Measures are tools that measure health care processes, outcomes and patient perceptions that are associated with the ability to provide high-quality health care.

• Data Science: Data science leverages the scale, scope and granularity of current CEDR data to drive robust EM research and establish an EM data analytics platform for evolving data needs.

• Health Information Technology (HIT): A broad discipline, encompassing health info management (EMR\EHR, eRx) and exchange (HIE/portals), with the goal of improving health care quality, safety and efficiency.

ACEP’s Pain and Addiction Care in the ED (PACED) Accreditation Program provides a national accreditation body that formally accredits ED pain and addiction management programs throughout the United States. The program promotes quality, patient safety, communication, responsibility and clarity in the creation of pain and addiction management in the ED.

“By becoming PACED-accredited, hospitals can demonstrate their commitment to combating the opioid crisis in their community by improving pain management, while concurrently minimizing risk to patients,” said ACEP President-Elect Mark Rosenberg, DO, MBA, FACEP, FAAHPM.

In early October, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center Emergency Department in Paterson, New Jersey, became the first facility in the nation to earn the PACED accreditation. Visit the PACED booth to learn more about this unique accreditation.

US Acute Care Solutions is different because we are majority physician-owned and are physician-led. We have the clinical, operational, and fi nancial resources to weather the worst of a storm. COVID is case in point. We stepped up to face this crisis as a leader in our industry and an exceptional partner for our hospitals. We were made for this.

US Acute Care Solutions experienced the same sudden and unprecedented declines in hospital & ED volumes related to COVID-19 that everyone else did. How we reacted was different.
