How$to$select$the$right$Leash Length$ Ideally, your leash should be at least as long as your board. Choosing the right leash for your board is tricky; too long and your board is a danger to everyone around, but too short and

your board could come back and slap you in the head during a wipe out. Here are a couple pointers for getting it just right. Thickness$ There are 3 variations on a leash’s thickness: 3/16” is for short boards and small waves (thinner leashes make paddling easier).

1/4” is for boards that are from 6’‛-10’‛. Its for small to slightly overhead waves. 5/16” are made from 7’ to 12’ leash and made for bigger surf. Most Stand up paddlers get like getting these thicker leashes. Cuff$ There are only two cuff sizes for leashes: ankle and calf. The ankle leash is pretty much standard for all boards. Calf leashes are for 9’‛, 10’‛, and 12’‛ leashes most people that like to get on the nose use the calf cuffs.

Recommend Leash sizes Leash Board size 6’ ------------------up to 6’10 7’ ------------------up to 7’10” 8’-------------------up to 8’10 9’-------------------up to10’ 10------------------up to 11’ 12------------------up to 13

Yeah!!! After over 1 year of R&D and Kelly Slater, Dane Reynolds and other top pros riding the board tested the board Channel Island finally released the Weirdo Ripper. The luck rep Kaipo had the fist production model and he let me test it out.

The day I rode the Weirdo Ripper the surf was waist to shoulder high. The fin set up he had on it was the H3 Quads with the knubsters on the back. I was thinking the board stiff by the looks of the fin configuration. Boy was I wrong, Not sure if it's the board or the fins but the combo was perfect. First of all the board catches just about anything I paddle for. No resists paddling it’s so smooth. The board drives down the line with out any problems, it took hardly any effort to generate speed. The turns at the top of the wave were real

smooth, it took me a while to get use to that, I usually like a board that is tight (stiffer) of the top. Over all I like the board. I like the board so much I ended up ordering one for myself. You’d think I get a lot of boards but this is my first new one in over a year.

A"brief"history"about"the"Weirdo"Ripper"

Yadin Nicol - along with Kelly, Dane, and Nathaniel - spent over a year developing the “Weirdo Ripper”. It was unveiled at the 2012 US Open by Dane Reynolds, who displayed the board’s advantages in the tricky Huntington conditions. The Weirdo Ripper is a user-friendly, full-volume, wide point forward, V bottom, square-winged swallow that works well as a thruster or quad.

Better to be spending your time in the water surfing or SUPing and not in Court or in Jail

Do don't DRINK AND DRIVE!!! Take a Daikou Taxi In Japan, drinking is very popular. It is an essential part of most evening events, and even work parties (Enkai – in Japanese). However, there is a zero tolerance policy for drinking and driving. If you drive after even 1 drink you could find yourself with a ticket for thousands of dollars, possibly jail time, you will possibly lose your job (especially if you are a government employee) and any passenger(s) that are in the vehicle with drivers license will be fined. If they drove to work, but also want to drink, there is a great service available in Japan called “Daikou” service. “Daikou” means “acting as agent”, and this service is essentially a proxy service where a company does something for you. In this case, they come in a small daikou taxi. One person gets out and takes your car keys. They then drive you home in your own car! The daikou taxi follows. When you get home, you pay them about the same as a taxi fare and they get back into the daikou taxi and drive away. With a service like that, there is little reason for anyone to need to drive after drinking in Japan. Wouldn't it be cool to have something like this in Hawaii? Especially for the Holiday season? Well there is. I’ve used them in the past. So If you plan on driving to an event you and you had a couple drinks it’s best to play it safe and call either Charley’s Taxi or Pony Taxi and tell them you want a “daiko” taxi, they will know what you want. Its double fair, I think its cheap considering the negative consequences that can happen. So keep these numbers handy for yourself or a friend.

Fine Tune your Quad Set Up and have more fun Its for Shortboards, Longboards and SUP

"It gives us the stability we're all hoping for with a four-fin," says Mattison, "There's so much potential to tune your board for particular conditions. It can change a board like crazy." And while even Slater has been unable to bring the springsuit back into fashion, the Nubster has taken off. He offers the "Pivot" for smaller waves or smaller surfers, a larger version, and also a longboard/SUP model. FCS has a polycarbonate fin called the "VS Knubster." Yes, it is spelled differently and yes, it's the same fin Kelly used to win his 11th world title. For your tech geeks out there, it's 3 3/4 inches at the base and 2-inches high. According to Slater himself, "The Knubster will make your favorite quad set up faster, smoother and adds a little more control." If you're a fan of Future Fins, they carry a molded Nubster of the same material and

dimensions, available where you'd find a Futures Fin Tree.. It's no doubt that competitive surfing is completely stuck on the thruster. Even taking into account a judging criteria that no longer detracts points for riding wider/fatter boards and Slater's influence, the entire tour is riding exactly the same fin set up (and board for that matter.) But for the average surfer, is there any harm in changing it up?
