celtA (certificate in english language teaching to Adults)Cambridge ESOL CELTA prepares you to become a teacher of English to speakers of other languages.CELTA is a 120 hour plus teacher training course in teaching English to adults for candidates who have little or no previous English language teaching experience. It may also be suitable for you if you have some experience but little previous training. Well-established internationally, internally assessed and externally moderated, it is intensive and practical. At Curtin English, the course is offered full-time over four weeks or part-time over twelve weeks.successful candidates will: • receive a certificate from Cambridge ESOL and a report from Curtin English • gain knowledge and skills in English language teaching based on

international best practice • satisfy the basic minimum teaching qualification requirements for staff in

accredited English language teaching centres in Australia and most centres worldwide

• be well-briefed in employment opportunities both in Australia and internationally.

customised teacher training groupsThere is an increasing demand for primary, secondary and tertiary teachers with up-to-date qualifications and improved skills in teaching English.

Curtin English designs and runs TESOL training courses for groups of teachers. Courses combine specialised English language development, English language teaching methodology and teaching practice. This enables you to improve your own English language skills, as well as developing your English language teaching skills.

Courses can be run in Australia, in your own country, or a combination of both. All courses are designed according to the needs of the group and can be of any length.

homestAy Stay with an Australian family, couple or single person and learn about life in Australia.

Most students choose to stay with a homestay family when they first arrive in Perth. It’s a great way to improve your English skills and get to know your way around Perth. your homestay family will provide you with everything you need.

Homestay full board offers three daily meals, 7 days a week. Homestay part board offers 2 daily meals on weekdays and 3 daily meals on weekends.

Important note: Curtin English now outsources this service to a recognised homestay provider.

homeshAreGives you the experience of staying in an Australian home in your own room with the independence of arranging your own meals.

Demi-PAirIn return for weekly house work and/or babysitting duties, you will receive free room and board as well as a small weekly payment.

shAre house you’ll take a room at a property other people are already living in. you may be living with other students, families or others who live nearby and have a spare room. Most room rentals are single rooms.

If you choose to share a house, you will have to prepare your own meals, as no meals are provided. Living in a share house is a great way to meet other students. you’ll have friends in no time!

renteD AccommoDAtionyou can rent your own house or apartment to live in. If you take this option you usually have a family or want to live by yourself.

If you want to rent your own accommodation, you will have to prepare all of your own meals.

For the purpose of the refund policy a ‘program’ is defined as the total period of pre-paid tuition at curtin english as described in the acceptance of offer. english Language Bridging constitutes a separate programme from other english language study. a “course” is one study period within a program, usually of 10 weeks’ duration.Terms of Policy• The enrolment fee is payable once only and is non-

refundable. The accommodation application fee and airport reception fee is also non refundable.

• if a student cancels their program in writing 28 days or more before the program commences, a full refund of tuition fees will be paid (less an administration charge of $230).

• if a student cancels their program in writing more than 7 days, but less than 28 days before the program commences, a refund of 70% of tuition fees will be paid (less an administration charge of $230).

• if the program is greater than 10 weeks in duration and a student withdraws and leaves from 7 days before the program commences to 28 days after the course commences, a refund of 30% of tuition fees will be paid (less an administration charge of $230).

• if a program is 10 weeks’ duration or less, no refund is payable if the students withdraws less than 7 days before the program commences or after a student commences studying at curtin english.

• if a visa application is denied, curtin english will give a full refund of tuition fees provided curtin english receives a copy of the australian visa rejection letter.

• a full refund of all fees will be paid within 14 days of the advertised commencement of the program if curtin english withdraws the offer or fails to provide the course offered and the provider default provisions of the commonwealth esos act 2000 (section 27.1) apply.

• no refund is payable if curtin english withdraws the student from a program because the student has seriously breached international student visa conditions or curtin english’s rules.
