  • 2018 Classes and Teachers I am very pleased with the educational and social advantages that our class grouping will allow again next year. This arrangement that is not based on enrolment numbers, although made possible by enrolment numbers, will allow the academic and social needs of ALL students to be best met. A great deal of time and effort by your child’s teachers, the people who know your child best at school, has been spent considering assessment data and peer relationships to form the most effective classes possible. They are experienced, educationally trained and dedicated professionals who want the very best educational ‘package’ for your child at Crookwell Public School.

I want you as parents to embrace and fully support this plan however I do understand that some of you will have questions and concerns that you would like addressed. I encourage you to phone me on 48321213 to discuss the matter or make an appointment to arrange a meeting time if you have any questions or concerns.

Early in Term 1 2018 a ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon will be conducted. I hope that you will be able to attend these meetings to understand what is happening in classrooms and learn the steps you can take at home to best support your child’s academic and social development.

    Early Stage 1

Kindergarten: will be taught by Miss O’Neill. Prior to commencing school all Kindergarten children will participate in BEST START Assessments. Once the children commence their formal schooling they will participate in the highly successful L3 (Language, Learning and Literacy) program. Families new to the school community who are considering enrolling students at the school are invited to contact the school on 48321213 to arrange an interview with Mr Atfield, meet the staff, tour the school and receive a Crookwell Public School Information package.

  • New Sensory Garden I am involved in the Youth Frontiers Mentoring Program at Crookwell High School. Our task was to create a community based project. I wanted to do something to help kids relax. I investigated some sensory ideas to help people relax and de-stress by engaging sight, sound, smell, taste and touch.

I met with Mr Atfield to discuss a sensory garden for Crookwell Public School and he thought it was a great idea. I designed and created the garden last school holidays and was able to hand it over a few weeks ago.

I hope the students enjoy the garden as it continues to grow and provides a calm and quiet zone for them.

Torticollis (stiff neck) Is your child suffering from a stiff neck? It appears with children having increased screen time this problem is becoming more prevalent. If you, or your child, is going to be using a device for an extended period of time please ensure breaks that cause neck movement are incorporated into the routine every 15 minutes to prevent this condition from occurring.
