Water Sports Activity Week – Sail France 2016 – REDUCED PRICE – FINAL OFFER

Dear Parent / Guardian,

We have for many years organised a Water Sports Activity week in the South of France, which we call ‘Sail France’. We are planning another trip for next year’s year 8 Copleston pupils in June 2016. This will take place during the week Saturday 11th June to Saturday 18th June 2015. It is open to all students, not just those studying French. Unfortunately we do not currently have enough students to make the trip viable. The original advertised price was £650 - £675, but now, thanks to Rockley, we are able to offer this activity week at the much lower cost of £525. This includes the cost of transport, accommodation and food, insurance and sailing instruction. If you are keen for your son/daughter to take part in this trip, please will you complete and return the slip attached to this letter to Mr Mursell-Head, together with a non-returnable deposit of £50.00. Subsequent payments will be spread over the following two terms, details of which will be provided in a follow up letter once your child has secured a place. The week’s activities are run by ‘Rockley Watersports’. Please feel free to look at their website (www.rockleyadventure.com) ‘Rockley’ have several centres in the South West of France, just over an hour south of Bordeaux. The campsites are situated on the shore of large inland lakes and the pupils will have the opportunity to try at least four different watersports, including sailing, windsurfing, catamaran sailing and kayaking, plus a ‘mountain bike’ activity. We hope also to spend a day White Water Rafting on the River Nive, a little further south. ‘Rockley Watersports’ is RYA (Royal Yachting Association) approved and the staff (all English speaking) are appropriately qualified for each of the activities. Tuition will be provided for all activities. Buoyancy aids will be worn for all water activities, but pupils must be able to swim 50m. Accommodation will be in modern frame tents, sleeping up to 6, on sprung beds with foam mattresses. The tents are then grouped to form a tent village for a particular school group, with instructors allocated to each village, in addition to the school staff accompanying the trip. All meals are provided at the Centre. Evening activities and entertainment are also laid on by the instructors at the Centre. We will be travelling by coach, taking the Saturday evening crossing on the Channel Ferry, and arriving at the Centre on Sunday morning. The pupils will then have 6 days at the Centre before returning to Ipswich, arriving back the following Saturday around midday.
