The Process of Decision Making Regarding Our Next PastorThe Process of Decision Making Regarding Our Next PastorThe Process of Decision Making Regarding Our Next PastorThe Process of Decision Making Regarding Our Next Pastor

1. The Elders discussed at length how to go about the process of finding our next pastor. We concluded that the first step was to determine if we should first offer the position to Shane McCrossen.

2. The Elders wrote a job description for the Senior Pastor.

3. The Elders chose a Pulpit Committee made up of 4 Elders and 4 non-elders.

4. The Pulpit Committee, chaired by Joe Mangiameli, met to discuss how to go through the process of evaluating Shane for the position.

5. The membership of the Pulpit Committee was made public so that anyone could speak with one of them regarding their desires for a future pastor or regarding Shane.

6. The Pulpit Committee spoke with many people in the church about whether Shane should become the next pastor.

7. The Pulpit Committee went to Shane's Ordination Council to evaluate his understanding of Biblical Doctrine.

8. The Pulpit Committee did a background check on Shane and Cherie.

9. The Pulpit Committee met to discuss the questions they thought they should ask Shane.

10. The Pulpit Committee met with Shane and Cherie and questioned them.

11. The Pulpit Committee discussed whether they should recommend Shane as the next pastor. They decided unanimously to recommend him to the Elders.

12. The Elders voted to recommend Shane to the Church.

13. Now it is up to the Church Membership.

6666----9 pm at SBC9 pm at SBC9 pm at SBC9 pm at SBC The Sheepdog Seminars for Churches addresses the

problem of violence at houses of worship and

faith-based problems.. There have been over 480

violent deaths on such property in the US since 1999

(about the same as schools during that time frame).

Speakers include, Pastor & Police Officer Jimmy

Meeks & Carl Chinn.

Pastors and church leaders must awaken to the fact

that violence has invaded houses of worship. They

must install a plan designed to provide a safe

atmosphere for their attendees. If disaster strikes

your church, you will spend the next few years trying

to recover. . . And some of your people will never

recover.

We hope you will join with other Pastors, Church

Leaders to learn more about how to Protect your

Praise for God's healing!

My left eye had a bacterial infection for four weeks even though I used three

different antibiotic treatments without relief. On Sunday, June 24, I asked our

Elders to pray according to James 5:14 - 15. God is indeed faithful to His

Word! The elders prayed with the anointing of oil and with their hands laid on me

and I have not had any more symptoms of infection since. Praise God!

Your servant, Dave Thomas

Perhaps several of you are aware of the Franklin Graham meetings coming up in Washington state. Please join us in praying for their success in reaching people for Christ. Please pray for health and safety for all of the team members and their families. Please pray for an anointing upon the services and for the Holy Spirit's ministry in peoples' hearts as they listen, consider, and respond to the call for

salvation. One of the meetings will be held at the Tacoma Dome on the evening of August 12. Some of us plan to attend, Lord willing.

“Therefore, so that I would not become arrogant, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a

messenger of Satan to trouble me - so that I would not become arrogant. I asked the Lord three

mes about this, that it would depart from me. But He said to me, “My grace is enough for you,

for My power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

I have a monkey on my back. No, it’s much heavier than that, it must be a guerrilla. I can never

turn far enough to see it but I stagger under its weight and I hear primal grunts from behind.

People give strange looks, they must be shocked at the size of my guerrilla.

My ape is noisy and rude. He is all that is vile and ugly and hateful. Everywhere I go, he interrupts

with inappropriate habits and offensive banter. He is the cause for the tempta$ons raging in my

life, for my ailing body, and for all my soured rela$onships.

The most frustra$ng tac$c of my guerrilla is that he mimics my voice. He whispers dark thoughts

and fools me into thinking I came up with them. Depression, anger, apathy—he has a long

repertoire of wicked ideas to plant. And when he runs out, he listens to demons who give him

even more ways to trick me.

Try what I may, I can’t get free of this exhaus$ng weight crushing my shoulders. I slap at my back

and jab s$cks, but my guerrilla only laughs and digs in for a $ghter hold.

I asked Jesus to get rid of the beast, to li, it from my back and set me free. He said, “No”, because

when there’s no guerrilla I don’t hold His hand as $ght. He would do anything to make sure I

never let go of His hand, including allowing the unwelcome monkey to stay on my back.

If Jesus said this is the way it is, then that’s how it will stay. I have to keep the guerrilla un$l I die.

So I’ll cling to the hand of Jesus and ask Him to counteract each whisper from my guerrilla. There

is going to be a lot of asking and much hand squeezing.

Prayer: “Be close, Jesus, and help me with the weight of my sin nature.”
