Rome. Wow! What an interesting main lesson. What an interesting part of history.
We began all the way back when Rome was a small city and we listened to the stories evolve as Rome became a Great
Empire.
Starting with Romulus and Remus and the foundations of Rome, before moving on to the seven evil kings, each was worse than the last. Finally ending with Tarquinius Superbus, the final king of Rome, who was overthrown. Leaving Rome
to become a Republic.
In my opinion, the most exciting part of this main lesson was learning about Gaius Julius Caesar and how he came to power. Listening to the stories from different perspectives, dis-cussing them and hearing my classmates opinions was fasci-
nating.
During the main lesson we began to understand what it was like to live in Ancient Rome; all that was good and how the people suf-fered. Learning about their work, transportation, food and heraldry really made me understand how lucky we are to have the amount
of free will we do.
Doing this main lesson was extremely interesting, it made me think about how much people have evolved in some ways but not in others. This was a very intellectually stimulating main
lesson.

The U16 basketball team, with some of our U13 players, played two matches this week. On Monday they played at home to the International School and lost by 40 points to 20. They had been trailing from the beginning but managed to get within a point of the visitors early in the third quarter, however lost steam and IS seemed to convert every shot they took to pull away in one of our higher scoring games this year. On Tuesday they
played away to Michael Oak bur had a lack of ball control - giving away too much possession - saw them go down 36 - 6.
Our cricket team really looked good on Tuesday, they matched the work we did to the pitch to make it match ready after the rains. Yes, the game can be won by a lone batsman as it was again this week, but the bowling and fielding throughout the team has really improved, which will stand them in good stead when the scores look closer. We notched up 156 for 5 wickets, Sun Valley C only 86 in response. Next week a sterner test away
to Bergvliet's 1st team.
