Baptism Baptisms are celebrated on various Sundays throughout the year at 1:15 p.m. You are encouraged to register for the baptism BEFORE YOUR CHILD IS BORN, so that it is easier to attend the required Baptism Preparation Class. Please call the Center and we will be happy to set up an appointment. Many parents also use this opportunity to register in the Parish as a new parishioner. Information about Godparents is available on the website.
Marriage We are happy to arrange for your wedding. First, we have the marriage interview and then we can set the date for the wedding. More information is available on the website. Please call the Center for an appointment and we will be happy to help you!
Reconciliation Confessions are heard in our Church Reconciliation Room (in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel) on Saturdays from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. You are also welcome to call the Center and make an appointment to celebrate the Sacrament.
Anointing of the Sick We encourage all those eligible for this Sacrament to be anointed after the Noon Mass on the first Sunday of the month or by calling the Center. Those eligible are those who are about to undergo an operation; are suffering from serious illness and the condition has worsened; or are enduring the weakening effects of advancing age and it has been one year since they were last anointed.

News From Your Respect Life Committee…….. How can we help women wounded by past abortions?
The St. Elizabeth Respect Life Committee, in conjunction with the St. Elizabeth Catholic Daughters and members of St. Patrick and St. Matthew Churches recently assembled 50 beautiful gift bags for the Sisters of Life Spiritual Motherhood Luncheon.
The gift bags were filled with generous donations of exquisite bracelets, Dunkin Donut cards, hats, jewelry, hand-crocheted washcloths, scented soaps and Metro cards as well as beautiful hand-written notes from our Committee members and those of the Catholic Daughters. These gift bags were delivered to the Sisters of Life, who, in turn, give them to women going through a particularly difficult time.
Interested in joining our Committee so that you can help? Contact Kathy and Bob Kaufmann, co-Chairs of our Respect Life Committee at 631.549.8121 or email [email protected].
The Diocese of Rockville Centre will hold its next Day of Prayer and Healing for Women (after abortion)
on Saturday, June 9, beginning at 9:00 a.m. For more information and to register, visit respectlife.drvc.org

St. E Melville-10
First Reading: Luke’s account of Pentecost is filled with symbolism and yet it is concise in its description of the centerpiece of the action. More than the Spirit’s actual arrival, Luke describes its effect on the people. Luke tells us that Jesus’ followers were waiting and hoping for something they were probably incapable of anticipating. They had no idea what God would bring about in and through them. Their very anticipation opened the way for the Spirit to enflame them with the desire and ability to preach the Gospel.
Responsorial Psalm 104: Psalm 104 celebrates God’s greatness manifested in the works of creation. The selection we pray today hones in on the fact that all that exists has God as author and sustainer.
Second Reading: The reading begins with Paul’s assertion that “No one can say ‘Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit” (1Corinthinas 12:3). While that sounds like an almost magical formula to prove one’s faith, Paul’s intention here is something else entirely. He is dealing with a community competing about who is the greatest, most gifted, most spiritual, and so on. Paul’s simple proclamation summarizes the more than forty verses that follow. All Christians have received the gift of the Spirit and are called to spread the Spirit’s gifts.
Gospel: Jesus clarifies the essence of the disciples mission (and ours). Where Matthew describes apostleship as teaching and baptizing, John summarizes the whole mission as forgiveness. The disciples have received Jesus’ peace and His Spirit, and now they, and those who come after, are charged with making the peace of forgiveness present in the world until the end of time.
