Catholic Daughters

of the Americas

Court St. Elizabeth #2687

Our next Business meeting and Installation of Officers is Monday, September 10, 6:30 p.m.

Please consider joining us!

We welcome all Catholic women, over the age of 18, to share their time, ideas, gifts and talents with us to help serve others. We know life can be very hectic, and that time is not always easy to give up, but if you can offer one evening a month, and an extra day or two per year, we would love to hear from you. CDA is one of the largest organizations of Catholic women…in the world, consisting of lay and religious women who love and support the Church, who like to participate in religious, social, & charitable activities. CDA offers High School, College, and Graduate Scholarship opportunities for our members’ families, and offers many ways to fill your desires to "give back." We are aware of the needs in society that are deeply affecting today’s generation, the elderly, and all human life. To be effective in promoting good works, and making a difference in the lives of others, we join together, pooling our time, talents, gift, ideas, and resources. Our sisterhood and faith become stronger and our works more meaningful. Our next business meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 10. We will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have. We are eager to expand our organiza- tion and sisterhood….and look forward to meeting you! Answer our Lord’s call with faith, generosity, and love, by joining the Catholic Daughters of the Americas! For more information prior to our meeting please contact:

First Reading: The prophet’s message offers hope to a frightened people. God will come to save them. What marvelous healing will take place when God comes: the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the lame will leap and the mute will sing! Nature will reflect God’s coming, too, as life-giving waters will appear in deserts and grasslands, on dry ground and within burning sands.

Responsorial Psalm 146 resounds with praise for God who comes in our midst, echoing Isaiah’s words that the Lord will give sight to the blind. Indeed, the Lord will raise all the downtrodden.

Second Reading: Favoritism has no place in Christian assemblies. Our attention should go equally to the rich and the poor, for human distinctions matter not in God’s community. In fact, James reminds his beloved brothers and sisters in faith that God chose the poor to acquire the riches of faith and inherit God’s Kingdom.

Gospel: Jesus fulfills Isaiah’s words and heals a deaf man with a speech impediment. In Jesus, the deaf hear and the mute speak! Jesus opens our lives to the gift of salvation he offers. Time after time, he astonishes us like he did the crowds centuries ago. Will we proclaim him as they did?

Bulletin Reflection

The good steward must not show favoritism. The rich may have many material gifts to share, but St. James reminds us in the second reading that God has chosen the world’s poor to be rich in faith and inheritors of God’s kingdom.

Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who show Christ’s compassion and mercy by supporting and ministering in homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
