A Message From Linda and MarioNine long years ago Chrissy left this world… and yet, at times, it feels like it was just a moment ago! Our quest to assist with changing the face of mental illness, tear down its stigma and help fi nd better treatments and hopefully cures, started at the moment she fl ew free. It was through her struggles that our eyes & hearts were opened to these devastating, misunderstood & feared illnesses. Each day we hear of more people who are affected by these illnesses, listen to the many heart wrenching stories, watch news reports and continue to pray for those people and the families that stand by and listen, but are unable to truly help those suffering. This is why we realize the absolute necessity of the medical research needed to unfold the mysteries of the brain. Each year we knock on doors, tell Chrissy’s story and pray for continued generosity and assistance from people like you, who may or may not have known Chrissy, but may know someone who struggled or continues to struggle as Chrissy did. Through the donations to BBRF, the funding of NARSAD grants continue, making it possible for the researchers to carry on their work towards better treatments, and ultimately cures for the myriad of mental illnesses that are rampant in this world.
Since the inception of Chrissy’s Wish, and the generosity of so many, we have been able to donate over $480,000 to mental health research. The sad fact remains that every person, whether personally, or through a loved one or close friend, HAS or WILL BE AFFECTED BY A MENTAL ILLNESS. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in four people in the U.S. experience a brain or behavior disorder each year. Unfortunately these statistics only touch the surface of the actual number affected, due to the reality that many people won’t reach out for help for fear of the stigma or discouraged by the treatments at this time. This is a major part of the reason why we MUST continue this work of funding research. Chrissy’s Wish is devoted to tearing down the stigma of mental illness by encouraging dialogue whenever possible. Mental illnesses are NOT a character fl aw or a contagious disease. By ending the silence and speaking of these illnesses, we can improve and possibly save lives. We must educate all to realize that they are ILLNESSES and ILLNESSES can be treated. We are proud of our daughter Chrissy, of her kindness and love of humanity, and we know that even after her death, she continues to help those that she related to and understood more than we knew. Thank you, Chrissy, for your assistance in these last nine years and we pray that you will continue to guide those who work to bring an end to mental illness! TOGETHER WITH THE ANGELS ABOVE & ON EARTH, WE CAN MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

On July 25, 2006 our family was transformed forever, our hearts forever broken…
yet with the love and support of countless people, we have managed
to put some meaning to this tragedy, and to our existence.
Chrissy’s Wish has given us a reason to go on, it’s a chance, a hope, a wish,
that may help someone, somewhere, at sometime, to have a life with peace of mind.
Somewhere over the rainbow, there will be a world without mental illness!
With the help of some family and very dear friends, wonderful sponsors and generous donations
of goods and services, the seventh annual Chrissy’s Wish Fundraiser was made possible.
It’s diffi cult to fi nd the words to express our gratitude for all your support, loyalty
and generosity, but please know that we will NEVER forget each and every
one of you for helping to bring Chrissy’s Wish to life!
We know Chrissy is smiling today, and we pray to her to gently
wrap her wings around you and your families!
