We invite all new members of our parish community to register at the Center. We also encourage you to join one of our numerous parish ministries, so that you may acquire a deeper sense of belonging and accomplishment serving the needs of others.

Celebration of the Eucharist Weekdays (Monday to Friday) at 9:30 a.m.

Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. (Vigil for Sunday)

Sundays at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m. (Family Mass) and Noon

Holy days usually at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Please check the bulletin or website.)

Becoming a Catholic or Adult Confirmation Are you interested in becoming Catholic? Were you never Confirmed and now find that you would like to complete your Sacraments of Initiation? Are you interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then Faith Formation is for you! Call the Parish Center for more information.

Baptism Baptisms are celebrated on various Sundays throughout the year at 1:15 p.m. You are encouraged to register for the baptism BEFORE YOUR CHILD IS BORN, so that it is easier to attend the required Baptism Preparation Class. Please call the Center and we will be happy to set up an appointment. Many parents also use this opportunity to register in the Parish as a new parishioner. Information about Godparents is available on the website.

Marriage We are happy to arrange for your wedding. First, we have the marriage interview and then we can set the date for the wedding. More information is available on the website. Please call the Center for an appointment and we will be happy to help you!

Reconciliation Confessions are heard in our Church Reconciliation Room (in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel) on Saturdays from 4:00 until 4:45 p.m. You are also welcome to call the Center and make an appointment to celebrate the Sacrament.

Anointing of the Sick We encourage all those eligible for this Sacrament to be anointed after the Noon Mass on the first Sunday of the month or by calling the Center. Those eligible are those who are about to undergo an operation; are suffering from serious illness and the condition has worsened; or are enduring the weakening effects of advancing age and it has been one year since they were last anointed.

The Diocese of Rockville Centre will hold its next

Day of Prayer and Healing for Women (after abortion)

on Saturday, June 9, beginning at 9:00 a.m. For more information and to register, visit

respectlife.drvc.org

Father’s Day Bassinette

Collection June 16 - 17

Your donation of layette items, clothing (0 to 24 months), diapers,

wipes, etc., or a monetary donation on Father’s Day weekend June 16 and 17, will enable the Life Center to continue helping women in crisis and their unborn babies.

Another choice? “And in an instant, everything changed. I was pregnant.” When a woman finds herself in an untimely pregnancy, she feels frightened, trapped and alone. A majority of women feel pressure from spouses, parents, and/or friends to terminate their pregnancies. They believe abortion is their only option We, the parishioners of St. Elizabeth’s have an opportunity to show these women we support the Life Center, a crisis pregnancy center. There they will receive compassionate counseling, free pregnancy tests and sonograms (most women reject abortion and chose life for their babies after hearing the heartbeat and seeing the babies). For this reason, abortion clinics do not permit the woman to see the image of her baby on the sonogram, even if offered. In addition to counseling, the Life Center provides car seats, strollers, clothing, diapers, formula and baby food. Assistance with links to Maternity Home, continuing education, and employment opportunities are also exended to them.

In our ongoing effort to protect our children and young people, St. Elizabeth Parish will host a VIRTUS

Awareness Session on:

Wednesday, June 6, 7:00 p.m. in the Hospitality Room.

VIRTUS is an awareness program for all church personnel and volunteers to insure that our Diocese consciously maintains a safe environment for our children and young people.

First Reading: Moses presents the people the words and ordinances of the Lord. The people knowledge their acceptance of the Lord’s commands, saying they will follow everything the Lord tells them. The ritual of Moses writing down the Lord’s words, building an altar, sanctifying the altar with the blood of young bulls, proclaiming the Lord’s word to the people and sprinkling the people with the blood of the covenant seals the covenant between the Lord and His people. On the solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, we celebrate today, we commemorate the gifts of both Christ’s Body and Blood that fulfilled the Mosaic covenant.

Responsorial Psalm 116: In today’s refrain, the psalmist names the Lord as the one responsible for his rescue and drinks the ceremonial cup of wine, the cup of salvation as an acknowledgment of the life that is still his because of God’s intervention. The stanzas call us to offer thanksgiving to the Lord and profess our vows to Him for all He has done for us.

Second Reading: Through His own blood, Christ the high priest mediates a new covenant. The author of Hebrews writes that, if the blood of animals can make holy those who have sinned, the Blood of Christ will cleanse even more. So much more will Christ’s blood erase our blemishes that sacrificing animals to the Lord is no longer necessary. Through His sacrifice, Christ made the gift of eternal redemption available to everyone. His Death delivered us from sin and holds out the grace of new life to us. Gospel: The Gospel reading comes from Mark’s account of the Passion. Mark’s Passion narrative was also proclaimed on Palm Sunday. Jesus takes, blesses, breaks and share the bread with His disciples. Then, He repeats similar actions with the cup of wine. He takes, blesses (gives thanks) and shares the wine with His disciples. Each time we celebrate the memorial of the Eucharist, we remember and make present what Jesus said and did. His own sacrifice is the basis for the meal of the New Covenant. His is the Body we consume; His, the Blood we drink.

what do Christians bring to the Eucharistic

The answer: “Their lives as Christian disciples;
