• 4 years of intermittent fever and abd pain
• 2019 cholesystectomy(bvdhyd)
• Laparotomy for nodal biopsy
• CR hospital for high fever and abd pain
INTRODUCTION
• Rare, fatal complication of EBV infection
• Children, adolescents
• Most common symptoms: fever, hepatitis, pancytopenia, splenomegaly
• Complications: interstitial pneumonia, lymphoma, liver failure, coronary artery
aneurysms, gastric carcinoma, myocarditis,peripheral neuropathy…
DIAGNOSIS CRITERIA
• Markedly abnormal antibody titers
• Histological evidence of major organ involvement(lymphadenitis, splenomegaly,
persistent hepatitis, uveitis
• Increased EBV RNA in affected tissue or increased level of EBV in peripheral
blood
