they save an old man from such a death, he infects Gabriel's brother with a strange virus.
◊After many hours of argument with his father, Gabriel kills his brother (reasoning that his brother would
not want to die as a monster) and leaves his family behind.
◊For the last 10 years, Gabriel has hunted alongside a variety of hunters, and has never stopped researching
the Croatoan virus.

begin a 12 year crusade, exorcising demons all across the United States.
◊In Virginia, Jael meets Martin Price, a man called a hunter who tells her that the “demon” she is tracking is,
in fact, something called a rugaru.
◊Realizing that demons are not the only threat the flock faces, Jael leaves her mother to train with Missouri,

Adam Roosevelt
Adam was a successful and talented EMT with a wife and child on the way. He was one of the few people
on the planet who was genuinely happy all the time.
◊An otherwise routine call ended with a woman attacking Adam and Darryl, his partner, and putting the
latter in the hospital. Only the intervention of a stranger who disappeared before he could be asked any
questions saved Adam from a similar fate.
◊Darryl, now a vampire, breaks into Adam's home and kills his wife and unborn child. The stranger
appears for a second time and kills Darryl.
◊In the aftermath of the fight, the stranger gives his name as Gabriel Stark and promises that, if Adam comes
with him, he can teach Adam how to protect people from similar monstrosities. From that night forward,
Adam has been a hunter.

Madison Shepard
Adopted at birth, Madison grew up under constant abuse from her father and was simply ignored by her
mother.
◊At age 16, Madison killed her father, stole his car, and fled west, where she finally settled in Montana.
With a job as a courier, a caring boyfriend, and something resembling a normal life.
◊After narrowly avoiding arrest after a “government man” came for her in Montana, she eventually ends up
in Rhode Island where she is attacked by crazy locals on her way to her motel room. She is saved by three
people calling themselves hunters: Martin Price, Gabriel Stark, and Jael Summers. Rather than thank them
and run, she joined them as they fought off the crazed townspeople.
◊After the night's bloody work was done, she found the one thing she had never known: a purpose. She
gave herself totally to hunting, becoming an extremely talented, if slightly crazy, example of the craft.

Blair Campbell
Born in the largest hunting family in the States, Blair grew up in the craft. She was “lucky” though,
because as she grew older, she mostly remained in support role- doing research for hunters in the field.
◊Blair began to work extensively with her cousins Mark and Royce, who taught her much about hunting.
Moreover, they displayed a healthy respect for her skills and treated her as more than a walking lore book.
◊When she was eighteen, Blair went with Mark, Royce, and Martin Price to investigate two Campbells who
had gone for nearly a month without checking in to a compound. When they arrived at the town, the four
of them had to kill many locals infected by what Price called the Croatoan virus. Only one of the
Campbells they were sent to investigate survived, having made it made it twenty-seven days alone in the
hostile town.
◊For the last twelve years, Blair has led her own hunts, often working with her own contacts outside the
Campbell family. She has, however, contracted amnesia that covers the entire last year of her life. All she
has to go on is the mysterious revolver with which she awoke.

Jacob Campbell
Born in the largest hunting family in the States, Jacob grew up in the craft. Jacob took to his lessons with
fervor, always trying to best his siblings or, failing that, himself.
◊On what was supposed to be the last hunt on which Jacob needed an escort, his father took him to
Massachusetts in order to exorcise a few demons. What they found instead was locals infected by what
Jacob would later learn is called the Croatoan Virus. His father died on the first day.
◊For twenty-seven days, Jacob fought off the infected. After twelve, he ran out of ammunition and spent the
remaining days fighting off the infected with pipes and knives. He was eventually by three Campbells and
an outsider named Price, who gave him the name of the virus.
◊ Jacob earned acclaim within the family for what was later called the Croatoan Siege. In spite of this, he felt
largely without a purpose, and it wasn't until his cousin, Royce, had spent much time with him that he
managed to continue hunting, and for the last twelve years, that is how he has chosen to honor his father.
