Corner Blocks Positions

Most reliable corner blocks are 1 & 4, as they are close to the reference plane

(negligible effect of temperature).

Rather uniform corner blockposition for the different SL at the different construction tables.

B. de la CruzCIEMAT (Madrid)

Change in positioning/measuring methods

Muons DT QC Meeting - June 2002 CMS Week

June 10th, 2002

Corner Blocks Positions

Position of corner blocks 2 & 3

is less significative (less control

over temperature effects).

Small differences in behaviour

are observed with the change of

procedures in positioning or

measuring.

Chamber Thickness SL thickness measured when assembling chamber.

Results on 10 chambers at CERN.

Ideal SL thickness : 53.5 mm

Good agreement with measurements!

SL Tests

Gas Tightness: Overpressure test performed & time constant measured.

HV Test in air: HV at 4000/ 2000/ -2000 v for wires/ strips/ I-beams . HV Test in gas: HV at 3600/ 1800/ -1400 . Record disconnected cells, with info on whether it is wire or cathode (right-left).

Cosmic Data: Data taken at HV= 3600/ 1800/ -1200 (sometimes –1440) v. Info recorded: TDC spectrum for each cell. Mean Timers right-left (every cell, all together). Efficiency per cell.

Noise: Measured at HV = 3600/ 1800/ -1200 v & Thresholds 15 (sometimes also 50, 95) mV. Info recorded: noise/cell & mean value for each plane # of cells with noise > 250, 500, 1000 Hz.

Public Info

Public Information on chamber construction and tests is

available at http://wwwae.ciemat.es/cms/QC.html

Ascii files located there; more info will be coming (missing

words).

For the QC Summary Table we will be sending txt files with data required (concerning Wire position, wire tension, reference block position) and now also SL & chamber thickness.
