Fellow Alumni,
Another year has gone by and the Banquet is very soon; the 2018 Banquet will be back in the High School Cafeteria on
June 9, 2018. The Association will recognize the 20 year, 50 year and welcome the Class of 2018 into the Alumni
Association. To help reduce the cost we are only mailing one copy to an address. The oldest Alumni member at each
address will be the recipient. We have been requesting your e-mail address for the past few years; it is very important that
we have a current address and e-mail. Newsletters are only mailed to the classes that have graduated 50 or more years.
If you would like a hard copy you can purchase one and have it mailed to you for $5 each year. An e-mail will be sent to
inform you when the newsletter is available on the school website (candor.org), in early May. The Reservation form will
continue to be part of the Newsletter. You can also check the Candor Alumni Facebook page for updates.
Your dues and banquet cost help provide the 50 year class members and the Class of 2016 with their meal. Because of
increase in cost of food, we need to increase the price to $20.00 per person. This year’s Banquet will be provided by
Punk’s Place. The menu as noted on front page.
As in the past we will have our Poinsettia Fund Raiser. This past year our profit was $470.00. An e-mail will be sent out
with the order information; colors, price and order deadline. If you would like to have a poinsettia delivered to someone in
the close vicinity of Candor; that can be arranged. They make great gifts. Usually they are delivered the first part of
December. Look for the e-mail.
Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer some time? The Alumni Association could use you. The Candor Alumni
Association is one of a very few that have a newsletter and banquet each year. There are lots of places to help the
association: be an officer, be on the committee, label newsletters, help setting up for the banquet, help clean up after
banquet, door prizes, etc., more hands makes light work. Come, help keep the organization going. Remember to get your
reservations in and we will see on June 9, 2018.
Lila Hall, President
Several Alumni and area businesses provide door prizes for the banquet. Would you like to provide a
door prize for the banquet? Let Carol Decker know by calling 659-4376 or Nancy King @ 659-3445.

PHYLLIS JORDAN(’68) PALMER:
What have I been doing since 1968 and graduating from
Candor. Looking back at my yearbook and all the good
wishes from my classmates, I realized that I
accomplished what everyone wished for me. To be
happy and have fun!
I graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1970 with a degree
in Nursery Education and in 1971 married Bill Palmer
(‘66) and we set out on our great adventure together.
While Bill went to Morrisville, I worked as a bank teller.
We have moved several times in 47 years but
Canandaigua, NY has been our home for many of those
years. We have traveled Route 96A many times to our
hometown, to see family and friends. I have worked as a
teacher and director of nursery schools and ended my
working years as a bank teller! I guess I went full circle
there.
Bill and I did get to do a lot of traveling around the USA,
a little overseas, and we hope to do more in our
retirement years.
We have three children, Scott, AJ and Kara and four
grandchildren. Of all the things I have done and all I have
seen, I view my family as my greatest accomplishment.
My kids make me proud every day and grandchildren are
just the icing on the cake. I am enjoying retirement and
every minute of being a mother and grandmother.
JACQUELINE YOST (‘68):
After graduation, I enjoyed SUNY Cortland for 4 yrs.
graduated with a teaching certificate in History that I
never used. I also met my life partner John Villani. In
1973, I moved to Texas to go to A & M grad school, which
didn’t result in a degree but after entry jobs at DPS and
Texas Ed Agency, I took a break and spent 5 months in
Europe. Jobs were still scarce in NY and I went back to
TX and went to work in Insurance Adjusting.
After 9 years in Texas, we moved to Northern Virginia.
Where we bought a house in 1985 and have been living
ever since. It’s a good spot for us: close enough to the
Shenandoah Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay to
indulge our 2 hobbies hiking and sailing.
In 2002-2003 we spent two summers hiking the
Appalachian Trail, all 2168 miles. It was a grand
adventure and the big surprise of going into the
wilderness was how social it was. We made wonderful
friends. I keep retiring, in 2007, we went to New Zealand
for 5 months. We drove all around the North and South
Island.
It is a spectacular country! All mountains and seashore
with awesome scenery everywhere you look and won-
derfully friendly people as well. I would love to go
back again. Lots more to see and plenty I would love to
revisit, like Hot Water Beach.
When we came back in 2008, I went back to work. After
20 years in insurance claims, I began managing Federal
Workers Compensation through a contractor. In 2015, I
retired again and thought this time it would stick but in
2016, The Smithsonian Institution had a part time
position managing their workers compensation claims,
so here I am working again. It’s been more hours that
they originally said and every couple of months, they
have to look for funding. Smithsonian is a good gig,
employee discounts and invitations to special
showings. But maybe by the time I see you all in June I
will have retired again. We certainly hope to get more
hiking & sailing in soon. Looking forward to catching
up with all my classmates. I still get to Candor
regularly, my sister Gail (’64) (after 25 years in
Venezuela) lives in the house on Church St where we all
grew up.
ROSEANN OLMSTED (‘68) BAILEY:
Wow, 50 years since I graduated from Candor Central
High School! I have had a wonderful life! Made a few
mistakes early on, but ended up with the man of my
dreams; now married 40 years. We raised two adopted
boys who have turned out to be great men. My career
was way beyond my dreams….wanted to be a business
teacher just like Mrs. Risley, but ended up with a 30+
year career as an advertising executive in the Los
Angles area with many business trips to New York
which was perfect for visiting family. I retired in 2006 to
the Palm Springs, CA area and we can’t think of another
place we'd rather live. We love it here! It took about 3
years before I became totally bored after completing all
the projects I had planned for retirement. After spending
a few years doing some part-time admin work, I ended
up getting my Real Estate license. I wasn’t much into
selling but found an agent that needed some advertising
and marketing help and have been working part-time
with her and really loving my second career.
We have had the opportunity to travel to London, Paris,
Australia and headed to Rome, Florence, Venice in May.
We have made a number of trips in the United States
and even had a summer cottage for 7 years in PA which
was a great opportunity to catch up with family and
friends. I am very much looking forward to visiting with
classmates later this summer.

RICHARD CYGANOVICH (‘68):
A half century ago in Candor, I invested a lot of time in Mr.
Collins’ tech classes. I always considered my classmates
to be like family. I missed many of them considerably after
graduation. I went to Buffalo to become a technology in-
structor. Bill Fenton and I spent a lot of good times to-
gether around there.
Before graduating from college, however, I “won” the
‘Draft’ lottery with number 21. About this time, I also met
my wife-to-be, Marie. Both were significant events in my
life.
My first teaching interview and subsequent job occurred
in Rochester, NY. A country boy can survive the inner
city, but it was a revelation on both sides of the desk! I
taught there for 11 years, after which I headed into indus-
try. I had always worked multiple jobs and summers,
which led to the transition. Company life brought much
responsibility and many new perspectives.
Over the next twenty some years under the corporate um-
brella, I changed “careers” four times. Re-learning and
new challenges were constant. I finished work life as a
Program Quality Manager for military and commercial
space hardware.
My family life brought us four children, Rich, Tim, Tom
and Tammy. Unfortunately, we lost Tim after a severe win-
ter accident on his snowmobile. This was a long and diffi-
cult time for us. Luckily, I have four wonderful grandchil-
dren and one grand dog who have brought much joy to
my life.
Currently, I am officially retired, but I still love to dabble in
and around auto racing circles. Close friends, family and
a renewed Christian life have become my priorities. I
would love to say hello to all my surviving classmates and
friends.
KIRTLEY HOWE (‘68):
Attended college for 2 years at Florida Presbyterian
College (now Eckerd College) in St. Petersburg Fl. Stayed
in Fl for a couple more years. Returned to NY, and worked
a variety of jobs. Found career employment at Cornell
University. Worked there for a number of years, with my
final position being Facilities and Security Manager for
Cornell Business Systems. My position was eventually
eliminated, and I needed to find other employment. I
became the Loss Prevention Manager for the Ithaca
K-Mart.
After 2 years there, I was offered a position with Dairy-
One, in Lansing NY, as a Calibration Tech. I worked for
them for 2 years, at which point they became part of
Dairy Marketing Services. My employment continued
with them, and worked with them until my retirement in
2012.
I married my lovely wife Melody Anderson (’75) in 2011,
and we purchased what had been my parents house
(they are deceased) in the Town of Tioga NY, where we
currently reside.
Melody and I are avid motorcycle riders, and currently
own a Suzuki Cavalcade Trike. We lead a quiet life in the
county, taking care of our 2 dogs, and 4 cats, and each
other. Life is good.
Kirt Howe CBMMA 1978 1978xs750SE Member: Yamaha
Triples Group (www.yamaha-triples.org)
NANCY MOYER (‘68) JORDAN:
Almost immediately after graduation, I married Gerald
Jordan (’65). We have 3 kids, all Candor graduates-
Gerald (‘87 ), Patricia ( ’89 ) and Sharon Jordan (90 )
Hobbie. We also have 4 grandchildren-Casey, Sophia,
Anna and Clara, all of whom are gorgeous, brilliant, and
talented. What makes me proudest, though, is that they
are all also thoroughly nice, responsible, and caring.
I worked a few odd jobs and ended up at Cornell
University in 1984, eventually working my way up to an
accounting, budget and finance position in the
Engineering Dean’s Office. I retired from there in 2008,
and we did the cliche thing and bought a motor
home. We did a lot of camping, mostly in the
Adirondacks with our family.
One highlight of our life was building our home. Gerry
walked into the woods with a chainsaw and several
years later completed our log home, doing 99% of the
work himself - including electric, plumbing, hardwood
floors, and kitchen cabinets.
Due to Gerry’s ill health, I will be attending reunion
events and alumni banquet solo, but am looking forward
to seeing everybody!

DARLENE ROBERTS (‘68) HOWLAND:
“How do I know my youth has been spent? My get up
and go just got up and went! BUT, oh how I grin when
I thing where it has been!” This saying has hung in
our home for many years and today reminds me of the
many blessings I’ve enjoyed over the past fifty years
since leaving the halls of CCS.
I furthered my education at SUNY Cortland with a BS
in 1972, majoring in elementary education, later
completing graduate work to receive permanent
teaching certification.
I taught first grade in Newark Valley a few years
before starting a family as well as beginning a dairy
farming career in 1974 with my husband Rob Howland
whom I married in 1972. While my lifetime career was
fulltime Mom and dairy farmer, I continued to
substitute teach periodically at Candor Elementary
School over the next 30+ years. Rob and I owned and
operated a successful 90 milking cow, 380 acre dairy
farm here in Candor (the former Zamoiski farm) from
1976 -2018. We sold our herd of 180 cows and heifers
in 2014 and currently raise 220 replacement heifers for
a large dairy located in Chenango County. We have
recently sold the real estate to two Amish families and
are transitioning over the next year or so to truly
having a life without cows! Farming has afforded us a
comfortable, rewarding lifestyle in which to raise our
five daughters, all CCS graduates--Robin Howland
(‘92)Gillette, Holly Howland (’95) Pullis , Rose Howland
(‘98) Millspaugh, Heather Howland( 2001)Darrow , and
Betsey Howland (2005)Gerber. The girls and their
husbands have blessed us with nine grandchildren
ages 3 months to 17 years.
Outside of family and farm I have been actively
involved over the years in a variety of community
activities including McKendree United Methodist
Church and Candor Community Chorus. Agriculture
has played a major role in my community involvement
--from 4-H leader, Cornell Cooperative Extension
county board of directors and state-wide advisory
committee, Farm Bureau, Cornell PRO-DAIRY
educational programs to dairy promotion activities.
Each of our five girls served as Tioga County Dairy
Princess and I have continued to be actively involved
in dairy promotion through county activities as well as
serving 10 years on the American Dairy Association/
Dairy Council board of directors.
Rob and I have received several awards in recogni-
tion of our involvement and success as dairy
farmers including FmHA Farm Family of the Year
1982, Tioga County Soil and Water Agricultural &
Environmental Management Award 2013, NYS/
ProDairy Service to Agriculture 2014, and ADADC
Golden Cow Award 2005 for my dedication to dairy
promotion. Our out-of-town travels have centered
around regional and national agricultural
conferences associated with the various positions
we have held within the dairy farming industry.
I’ve truly been blessed with a wonderful, rewarding
life here in our small town of Candor, surrounded
and supported by a loving large family and too many
friends to count. I look forward to reuniting with my
classmates of 1968 at the banquet and/or the
reunion in June. I wish them all a happy, healthy
retirement and for all alumni to remember “Be
Happy, Drink Milk!’

Driving (had to get out of the stuffy office, especially
after the 911 event just across the river!) after 13
years in healthcare insurance. Moved to the Wilkes
Barre, PA area and attended a professional truck
driving school.; Sept 2001 to Feb 2012: Drove
professionally for various trucking companies going
cross country and local short hauls.
Retired Feb 19, 2012, living in the Wilkes Barre, PA
area. Enjoy camping in an RV with my ‘significant
other’ Carol and our German Shepard, Titan! We have
traveled and camped in the following states; PA, OH,
IL, IN, NY, NJ, VA, KY, TN, MO, AR, GA, SC, NC, FL,
AL, MS, LA, TX, NM and AZ. We also enjoy camping
and attending the Wine Fest @ Watkins Glen
International Raceway every year and to the NASCAR
races, which we have attended at ‘The Glen’, Pocono,
Dover and TMS (Texas Motor Speedway)!; Oh…btw…
have three adult kids; Cyndi (Titusville, FL), Jennifer
(Jacksonville, NC) & Joshua (Seattle, WA). Hope to
make either the Class Reunion @ Phil’s or the
Banquet.???
RICHARD ELLINWOOD (’68):
I graduated from SUNY Morrisville in 1970 with a
degree in Ag Engineering. Started driving semi-
trucks in ‘72 and still do. Two kids, two step-kids and
five grandkids. Currently divorced.
Short and Sweet!
GORDON FOSTER (‘68):
After graduation I joined the Navy and traveled
extensively. I served on 4 different aircraft carriers in
support of operations in Viet Nam, Iraq and peace
keeping missions throughout the world. It wasn’t all
work. We visited many ports in the orient, the Middle
East, Australia, Mexico, Trinidad, Western Canada
Diego Garcia and southern Europe. I’ve also visited 49
of our wonderful United States. Maine will have to
wait. My world adventures did take me away from
Candor and I’m looking forward to seeing all my class
mates again. For those who don’t know I’ve
re-established my residency in Candor. Anybody for
Golf?
Gordon Foster, US Navy Retired
JOHN WARD (‘68):
I left Candor in 1968 to attend RIT. It was a great
school, a good college experience but the best thing
that happened is I met my wife Rosemary. We’ve been
on an adventure together for the last 48 years!
(married for 47 of those years). We raised three
amazing sons who live in Maryland, Atlanta and one
who lives around the corner from us here in DeLand
Florida. Rosemary and I moved to DeLand in 2005 to
merge our business with a partner here in Orlando.
We grew that business and two years ago I sold my
interest in that business and started another. I truly
enjoy my work as a business coach, helping business
owners get what they want from their business. I have
no plans to retire any time soon because I love what I
do and still have the flexibility of being retired since I
make my own schedule. We have seven beautiful and
incredibly smart Grandchildren (No bias here). Four
live 10 minutes away so we get to see them 2 or 3
times a week. It’s the best part of my day. The others
we see as travel schedules allow. We come to Candor
at least once a year, sometimes more, to spend time
with nature and our family at our beloved Tree Farm. I
plan to join others at the reunion this year.
16
We are lucky that once our children finished college and
spread their wings a bit, they decided to settle down close
by. We are especially lucky that we are able to be close to
our four grandsons to watch them grow into fine young
men.
CARLETON TILTON (‘68 ):
After graduation, I worked on a farm and for the U.S.
Postal Service as a substitute rural letter carrier. In 1973 I
married Lynne Lattin. We had two daughters, Jennifer
works at Cornell in financial aid office and Stacy is a
school teacher in Trumansburg, NY.
In 1983 I was appointed as a regular mail carrier. After 23
years I retired in 2006. I found I needed something to do,
so I took a private contract route with the U.S. Postal
Service,12 years and counting,49 years total. We have one
granddaughter. Looking forward to seeing my classmates
at the Alumni Banquet.
BEVERLY RUSSELL (‘68) LIDDINGTON:
After graduating I went to work at the Credit Bureau of
Ithaca. In 1970 I married Jim Liddington (’67). In March of
1977 we adopted a daughter, Rosie and in December 1977
we welcomed a son, James F. Liddington. I was a stay at
home mom until 1993, which after that time I worked for
Even Start until 2003. Then I took a position at the
Caroline After School program as the Program
Coordinator and in June 2019 I will retire. This will make
Jim very happy, since he has been retired for 7 years. Our
children are both graduates of C.C.S., Rosemary
Liddington(’95) White, and James “Jimmie” (’96). We have
3 Grandchildren. Rosie White has a son Corbyn who
attends Candor School. Jimmie and wife Kelly live in
Matthews, North Carolina, with 2 children: Kevin and
Breidi. The best thing in life is being grandparents. I am
looking forward to seeing everyone.
STEVE HANER (‘68):
Steve Haner attended his senior year at C.C.S during the
day and worked at Cornell University at night. He just
retired after having worked at Cornell for 50 years. Steve
has three boys, Brian(‘92), Stephen(‘91) and James(‘97),
and one girl Amy(‘96). Steve enjoys four wonderful grand-
children. Steve has traveled extensively around the U.S.
but enjoys his farm, horses, his 1957 Chevy and 1950
Chevy pickup as well as a number of motorcycles. Steve
has many wonderful memories of high school days and
friends: Jerry Anderson, Pat Lipka, Keith West, Lewis
Ormsby and others.
DONNA LOHR (‘68) KOWALSKI:
First of all, "Hey" to all of you folks!
I graduated from CCS on a Saturday and started
working at Cornell Law Library 2 days later. After a
year of sitting in an office, I decided that there had to
be more to life than working and decided to go to
Corning Community College with Rose Olmsted
Bailey. Graduated from there with an AS degree in
1971 and went to work in Binghamton. I got married
in 1971 and I flip-flopped between Cornell & IC for a
few years as an Administrative Assistant, Secretary,
Extramural Registrar and a typographist in Graphic
Arts. In 1984 I went back to Cornell and started
working as a research aide for a delightful southern
gentleman named Ed Smith, who was writing a
biography of Charles Valentine Riley, a pioneer
entomologist. When Dr. Smith retired I started
working for the Pesticide Management Education
Program and stayed there doing desktop publishing
of their training manuals and teaching aides (Power
point presentations and a lot of on-line work). I
retired from there in 2010, my husband and I had
divorced after 31 years and I met a nice fellow from
Cortland. We purchased a motor home together and
went to TN a couple of times. We also went camping
with his daughter and granddaughter and I loved
it! Unfortunately he passed away from cancer in
2015. Since we had both loved Tennessee so much I
sold my house in NY and moved to Sweetwater, TN
and live next door to Al (‘65) and Donna Turner (‘68)
Vergason. For the most part the weather here is
really nice & the people are extremely helpful &
friendly--even to us Yankees! I still have my weird
sense of humor and love jokes. Hope to see a lot of
you in June at the reunion.
JAMES & STEPHANIE LIS DOUCETT (‘68):
We married soon out of high school and together
raised three children. Stephanie worked various
secretarial jobs at Cornell University while Jim
worked with a construction company in Endicott.
Eventually Jim decided to branch out on his own and
started his own company, JD Concrete Pumping
Service, Inc. When the business started growing,
Stephanie quit Cornell and helped Jim with the
management end of the business while Jim put his
all into expanding the company. In 2014 we decided
to retire. We sold our building and property to
Candor School, which they retrofitted for the new
school bus garage, and sold our equipment to a
local concrete ready mix company.
17
PHILIP JORDAN (‘68):
After graduation I attended Corning Community
College and received an Associate of Arts Degree in
Humanities and Social Science. I then attended
Brockport State University receiving a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Secondary Education to teach high school
Spanish. I did my student teaching at Spencer-Van
Etten Central school. In August 1975 I was instrumental
in finding a six-year-old boy named Tommy Kennedy
lost in the woods in Spencer New York. He had been
lost overnight during thunderstorms. Using my
intuitive talents I was able to locate him, launching a
career in psychic work and police investigation. I
graduated from New York State Municipal Police
Academy and was sworn in as a Special Deputy in
Tioga County. I have worked homicide cases
throughout the world and have been instrumental in
solving many cold cases. Court TV documented
approximately 20 cases which are still being rerun. I
attended Canon 10 training and Seminary in the
Episcopal Church but chose to be ordained
nondenominationally. I have been Pastor of the
Caroline Ctr., Church in Caroline Center for the past 30
years and Pastor at St. Luke’s Chapel in Van Etten for
the past five years. I received a Master of Science in
Education with an emphasis in counseling from Elmira
College and at the same time attended and graduated
from Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse
and am a New York State licensed Funeral Director. I
owned and operated the Candor Funeral Parlour for 20
years. I have authored two books, a biography, “I Knew
This Day Would Come” and “Mrs. Quigley Died One
Day.” I have a high wheel bicycle I rode for 35 years in
the annual Fourth of July celebration. After living in
various homes in Candor and Speedsville, I recently
bought the “Edge of Thyme Bed-And-Breakfast on
Main Street in Candor and hope to consolidate all of
my work and greet people from around the world in the
heart of downtown Candor New York. I have nine
coronary stents, had triple bypass and prostate cancer
surgery four years ago within 11 weeks of each other.
The body is aging but the mind stays young. I have
chosen to enjoy life to the fullest, and though it has
been difficult at times it’s been a good trip.

FRED AHART (‘65):
Section IX Athletic Administrator Award Recipient
“Coach” Fred Ahart is receiving the 2017-18 Section IX
Athletic Administrator of the Year Award. He is being
presented this award by the New York State Athletic
Administrators Association, who felt that his work as
Director of Athletics through the years, as well as his
dedication and involvement with the OCIAA, MHAL,
Section IX and NYSPHSAA cannot be over-emphasized.
This award was presented to Fred at the Saratoga Hilton
in Saratoga Springs, New York on Wednesday, March
14, 2018.
Fred began his career at Roscoe Central in 1969 after
graduating from Ithaca College. He has been the

from 1994-1996, Section IX Basketball Committee
member since 1975 to present, Section IX Basketball
Committee Co-Chair since 1996, NYSPHSAA Boys

from their 5 children (Maryanne, Ralph, Michelle,
Catherine and Kelly) their spouses, 15 grandchildren
and 1 great grandchild have made his career truly a
“family effort”.

ROBERT RIGGS (‘98 ):
Rob Riggs, Candor High class of ’98, was recognized by
the Connect Association as one of their top 40 under 40.
The 40 honorees were from all over the USA and several
foreign countries, and work as event professionals,
planning and implementing events for their constituents.
Rob, a Certified Association Executive, works in
Indianapolis and serves as Executive Vice President
of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and Executive Director of
Phi Kappa Theta Foundation. His passion is
empowering others to improve their lives and then the
world.
He has spent his entire 16-year career in the association
profession. For the first five years, he was promoted to
different roles within the fraternity. In 2007, he was hired
to serve in executive roles for both the Fraternity and
Foundation.
Rob has led Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity through its last
strategic plan to become an association that focuses on
positive social impact. In his first year as the executive,
Rob led the association to redefine its mission from a
full-page document to a single sentence: Phi Kappa
Theta actively develops men to be effective leaders who
passionately serve society, fraternity and God.
He leads his professional staff and volunteers to deliver
an experience for the young fraternity members de-
signed to inspire and create solutions to social issues
that resonate with them. The educational programs,
conferences and membership experiences curated by
the fraternity are designed to increase the members’
capacity to deliver sustainable social solutions. Rob
also works directly with philanthropists to match their
passions and investments with the educational
programs curated by the fraternity.
Currently, he and his staff are launching a new
immersion-based program known as the Imprint
Initiative. It will be a blend of online-based education
and live immersive exploration into the participants’
passion, purpose and drive to make a positive social
impact.
Rob and his wife, Katie, live in Zionsville, Indiana with
their three-year old daughter, Francesca and a pitbull
rescue, Aubie. Rob and Katie have been married since
2011 and enjoy traveling as often as possible. They are
expecting their second child, a son in mid-May.

wonderful life full of youth sports and scouting. In my
free time I enjoy traveling and spending time with family

any Candor graduate. We are starting a "Wall of Accomplishment" located in room
one of the building. This wall is meant to showcase what Candor graduates have
done after graduation. We are looking for business cards and or small photos with
a brief description of what you are and have accomplished after high school. The
overall goal of this wall is to show current students what opportunities Candor
graduates have after high school as well as showing off what you have done. No
success is too small! Please forward business cards and or wallet sized photos to
Candor High School, Attn: Stephen Lindridge, 1 Academy Street, Candor, NY 13743.

SPECIAL NOTES
Old Yearbook Update
Thanks to the response in my search of old Candor
yearbooks. In the town and high school library our sets
include yearbooks from 1923-2017 with the exception of
1925 and 1933. In my search for the old yearbooks, I
have determined that in the years 1936 and 1937, no
yearbook was published; however, if anyone has
information on the knowledge of the printing of these
two years, I would appreciate it. We still do not refuse
any yearbooks that alumni wish to donate. Also, if you
are in search of a certain year, we have many extras.
Thanks!
Richard Weber Fund
The Richard Weber Fund was established in 2001 as
memorial to Richard Weber, Class of 1956 and a charter
member of the Spencer - Candor Lions Club. The initial
effort raised $2000. The mission of the fund is to
recognize young adults who pursue careers that aid the
visually and hearing impaired. This award would be
$200 and go to a graduating senior of Candor Central
School to help with the expenses of his/her education.
There is a specific criteria that must be met by students
interested in applying. Further information may be
obtained by contacting Candor Alumni Association or
the Spencer - Candor Lions Club.
The Spencer /Candor Lions Club will continue to manage
fund-raisers, the results to include strengthening the
reserves of the fund. Anyone wishing to make a donation
to this fund may do so by contacting Spencer - Candor
Lions Club, Attention: Dave Belair, Treasurer, 72 Howard
Hill Road, Candor, NY 13743.
GED Recipients
Do you know a former Candor student who has
earned an equivalency degree? Please advise
them to notify the Alumni Association (send copy
of paperwork) and their name and address will be
added to the Alumni computer records. They will
“rejoin” the class that they would have originally
graduated with.

The Alumni Association would like to give a heart
-felt thanks to the Jr/Sr. High Vocal Music Dept
and the CCS cheerleaders for their continuing
support for familiarizing and teaching the
students of Candor Central School, our Alma
Mater. The Alma Mater had become a lost
tradition. Many recent graduates never realized
there was such a song. With encouragement
from the alumni, it has been revived by these
talented and proud Candor Indians.
