Pensions Discretion Policy
Introduction
1) The Councils pension scheme operates under the Local Government Pensionregulations. This policy sets out Rother’s approach to Pension Discretions
Principles
2) A key principle behind this policy is to set out the Council’s approach to pensiondiscretions, treating employees fairly and consistently whilst being open andtransparent.
Employing Authority Discretions Regulations-

• The Local Government Pension Scheme (Administration) Regulations 2008 (asamended) (Prefix A below)
• The Local Government Pension Scheme (Benefits, Membership and Contributions)Regulations 2009 (as amended) (Prefix B below)
• The Local Government Pension Scheme (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2008(as amended) (Prefix T below)
• The Local Government (Early Termination of Employment) (DiscretionaryCompensation) (England and Wales) Regulations 2006 (as amended) (Prefix Dbelow)
Pursuant to Regulation 66(5) of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Administration)Regulations in preparing, or reviewing and making revisions to this statement, the Employerhas had and will have regard to the extent to which the exercise of any of the functions inaccordance with its policy could lead to a serious loss of confidence in the public service.
