Dear Parents International Week is underway here at BIST and we are celebrating the amazing diversity of our community. Our community of students and teach- ers now has 46 different passport nationalities rep- resenting every continent (except Antarctica!). This makes BIST truly an international school where children and adults can learn about and from peo- ple from around the globe. This happens every week here at BIST as we always seek to celebrate our multicultural nature as well as our Georgian and British identities all the time. However this week is a special week during which we get to highlight the special nature of our school. On Friday of last week we celebrated the Georgian festival of Tbilisoba. In the primary classrooms, our learning supports, who come from a wide range of Georgian regions, lead sessions on their home re- gion and its traditions. Each primary class, with amazing support from our parents, produced tra- ditional Tbilisoba displays of fruits and vegetables. Some of our senior students lead an initiative to collect food for an old people’s feeding centre run by Caritas. Approximately 1 metric tonne of canned, bottled and packet foods was delivered to Caritas on Monday. Thank you to all our community who were involved in our Tbilisoba celebrations. Last week as part of their IPC Exit Point, Year 1, 1/2 and 2 went to the Fire Station. Saburtalo Fire Station is very special because it also has a museum with various artworks including paint-ings and sculptures of fire scenes from hundreds of years ago. Students learned about the equipment that was used in the past and compared it with what is used now. They had a chance to climb inside the modern fire trucks and test out some of the equipment. Our stu-dents really enjoyed this trip and all the activities!

ONLINE LEARNING In secondary Maths, French and Spanish, we have two new online learning platforms that children can use at home. MyIMaths is an on-line home learning and review/consolidation of knowledge tool available to all students in Years 7 to 11. Please ask your children to show you it at home. This is Language is an amazing example of the gamification of learning where children can participate in a wide variety of challenges on-line. Again, ask your children to show you this!
