We start listening to and carefully documenting your exact requirements. No two applications are the same and we pay attention to ensure that our engineering team designs the PureSystemTM dehumidifier to your specification. Starting from basic requirements such as selecting indoor or outdoor installation, we can also adjust for size, shape and installed components according to your needs.

In addition to this, pre- and post-treatment filtration, ventilation for process and reactivation airflows, heating and cooling for pre- and post-treatment, rotor and purge for dehumidification, post- humidification and heat recovery are possible options. Either you choose one of our custom made “Full Flex” series or one of the “Spray drying configuration” series they both stand for reliable technology and outstanding quality.

As desiccant dehumidifiers feature two counter airflows, one for process and one for reactivation, the air inlets are usually on opposite sides of the machine.

Consequently two air inlet ducts and ductings are necessary, potentially holding attenuators, filters and pre-heaters. With a single, combined air inlet only one duct with one set of pre-treatment components would suffice. As a benefit the size of the machine can be optimized, duct working reduced, installation time shortened and maintenance minimized. In short: the single air inlet creates lots of opportunities to reduce (TCO) the total cost of ownership.

Food and pharmaceutical processes require food safe materials to keep their processes safe and prevent hygienic risk and contamination.

With more than 60 years experience in the food industry we understand these requirements and follow the hygienic standards EHEDG and VDI 6022. Therefore we use stainless steel as standard material for all constructive parts due its hygienic, corrosive and food grade properties. The surface finish and smoothness will also facilitate cleaning. Everything to prevent dirt traps and bacterial growth. Flexible parts that cannot be made from stainless steel can be delivered with food certified plastics. As a standard the rotor-seal is made from FDA compliant material, inspection door-seals are phthalate free and we use food grade lubricant for the PureRotor bearing and drive system. For extra food safety you can choose for the optional “Hygienic package”, [see details on page 4].

A clever arrangement of components

Noise becomes more and more a sensitive parameter for outdoor as well as for indoor installations.

A first step to avoid unacceptable noise emissions is to place fans inside the casing as it will absorb a good deal of the sound. And when you cannot prevent that a fan is in direct contact with the “outer world”, as it will be with the reactivation fan, a decent sound attenuator will limit the noise level according to specification.

Another sort of emissions can be prevented by a proper filtration which is available up to H14 and capable of temperatures up to 120°C. Utilizing the in house developed fully welded and in compliance with EHEDG manufactured filter frames will supply clean air for the process and for the environment. Furthermore they allow for a high filter area and a low pressure drop.

ENERGY SAVING SOLUTION

Flash steam recoveryInternally we provide the best energy saving option with flash steam recovery coil when reactivating with steam. Up to 20% reduction of steam supply can be achieved and also unwanted back-pressure in the condensate system will be prevented due to sub-cooling of the steam condensate.

Waste heat recoveryExternally we provide heat exchanging coils with an efficiency of over 55% for utilizing your waste energy in the shape of warm/hot exhaust air as well as warm/hot water.

ORC control (Optimal Regeneration Control)A smart and energy saving solution which not only reduces the energy consumption up to 50% during part load but also improves the controllability and stability during the winter time by modulating the regeneration temperature - air flow and rotor speed.

PUREROTOR - THE PREMIUM DESICCANT ROTOR FOR SPRAY DRYING AND OTHER DEMANDING FOOD APPLICATIONS

The PureRotor represents the heart of the machine.

Here the dehumidification process takes place, allowing extreme moisture removal of up to 1.800kg/h. And whether you use HPS or our high/efficiency QuantumTM rotor material, both incorporate certified bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

The new unique high strength construction with durable dog-bone structure in combination with the corrosion resistant stainless steel materials make this the most reliable large size desiccant rotor on the market.

For Spray drying we recommend our energy efficient QuantumTM media which provides exceptional moisture removal without requiring any pre-cooling (e.g. ΔX up to 15g/kg) thus making it suitable for high regeneration temperature applications. The insoluble desiccant cannot be “washed out” - making it effective in applications utilizing 100% outdoor air.

Energy saving and CO2 reduction can be achieved due to a effectively elimination of the need of pre-cooling, reducing energy consumption up to 40%. Another benefit is the 25% lower pressure drop compare to other rotors on the market.

PURESYSTEMTM DETAILSThe structure of the whole system is the durable welded stainless steel construction, with removable (40mm) double- walled insulated panels. The panels are either made from double walled stainless steel or with a combination with Plastisol at the outside. The whole system is mounted on a stainless steel or UNP hot dipped galvanized base frame. Doors and hatches for service and maintenance are placed at agreed locations.

APPLICATIONS: FOOD & PHARMAHumidity control is critical in the high demanding industrial processes of many food and pharma applications where products are manufactured with hygroscopic materials sensitive to high moisture levels. The most effective way to protect raw materials and products during production, storage and transport is to control environmental conditions. The central element is the continuous regulation and monitoring of air humidity during all produc tion processes, from raw material to end product and at every time of the day and every season of the year. For this reason, we offer you custom-designed air dehumidification solutions for every single area of your process. Whether silo or production facility, warehouse or transport, air humidity is consistently and precisely coordi nated with the product and the situation. This coordination not only secures high product quality and long shelf life, but also ensures considerable cost savings and production increases.

In the spray drying process, the drying air is in direct contact with the product during the drying process. Keeping air humidity at a fixed low level allows for sufficient product cooling and ensures the desired powder moisture level, as it avoids hygroscopic products to reabsorb moisture. As a result, powder caking and clogging are not likely to occur.

SPRAY DRYING

Confectionery products are sensitive to moisture. Hard candies, biscuits, chocolates, jellied items, sugar coated drops or tablets, often lose quality and shelf life when they come into contact with air humidity that is too high. They can stick together, become mouldy and break apart. Machines and pipes become clogged and production, transport and storage are impeded. This is a cost and time-intensive situation that can be avoided.

CONFECTIONARY

Humidity control is also an important factor for stable and predictable pharmaceutical production. From R&D labs to bulk production, humidity can affect both the chemical and mechanical properties of formulations, which can lead to quality issues and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) challenges. Bulk production areas require constant humidity control, not only for ensuring that the dosage format is manufactured according to GMP and SOP guidelines, but that other humidity related issues such as condensation, corrosion and microbial growth are all kept under control.
