SACRED HEART CATHOLIC SCHOOL 503-792-4541 [email protected]

Spring Fling: Thank you to all the parishioners who supported our school with donations for our Spring Fling and attended Spring Fling. We are truly blessed to have such a supportive parish. We will have our final numbers in the coming weeks. Rosary: We will be praying the Rosary, Wednes-day, April 18th. Our 7th/8th grade class will lead us. We hope that you can join us. 1st Holy Communion: On April 22nd at the 10 am Mass, 14 Sacred Heart Catholic School students will receive their 1st Holy Communion. Please pray for them this week as they prepare for this sacra-ment. Are you looking for a Catholic School with a loving environment for your child? We welcome you to stop by and tour our school, and see our children as they interact with each other and with our teachers. We are now a preschool through 8th

grade school. Our alumni have done well at Ger-vais High School, Blanchet Catholic, Valley Catho-lic, Silverton High School and Woodburn High School. One of Sacred Heart Catholic School’s goals is to make a difference in the lives of our students.

THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER Acts 3:13-15, 17-19, 1 John 2:1-5a

Luke 24:35-48

Brief Reflection: Jesus is the fulfillment of Scrip-ture. The risen Christ made himself known to his dis-ciples. After having revealed himself in Emmaus in the breaking of the bread, he encouraged the disciples in Jerusalem to look at and to touch his wounds. He reminded them of what Scrip-ture had foretold, just as Peter reminded the community in the first reading.

Gaudete et Exsultate The new apostolic exhortation, “rejoice and be glad” by Pope Francis has been published. Based mostly on Lumen Gentium, in particular on the univer-sal call to holiness, Pope Francis, inspired by theology of the Beatitudes in Matthew, gives a beautiful and practical re-flection and proposals on how we Christians can live in holi-ness and achieve holiness in our modern world and in our distinct status in life as lay or clergy. There are very few chapters and it is not a difficult read; kindly download and meditate on this inspirational document by the Holy Father. Please don’t be content with hearsay and conflicted analysis, read for yourself. Please see www.Vatican.va Fr.Chrispine

Salem Right to Life rummage sale is June 21-23. After 33 years, we are in need of some new infrastructure. Would you like to donate toward our tables and shelves fund? We would like to label these items perhaps in honor of someone living or passed, a youth, or any type of organization. We can purchase high-quality tables for $35.00, shelves cost about $50.00. Donations may be mailed to Salem Right to Life Education Foundation, 1725 Capital St. NE, Salem, OR 97303 . Please note “table fund” on your check; and if you are donating in honor of some-one or some group, please name them. The labels will be affixed to the item we purchase. Thank you for your help.

If you were not able to attend the Sacred Heart School Auction on April 14 but would like to donate to the school, you may do so by visiting the school website http://school.shstl.org/ and clicking on the Give Online button or drop a donation in the mail or at church. We ap-preciate all the financial and prayer support that you give. Our children are given a solid foundation in our faith and are being taught how to be a light in this world. If you would like your children to attend Sacred Heart Catholic School, but aren’t sure how you can afford it, please speak with Mrs. Shawn. Every child should have an opportunity to learn in a safe and Christ-centered environment.
