    2012年将迎来王及王在建筑行业服务的

    第40个年头。四十年来,公司融合了建

    筑、室内设计、环保以及景观设计等方面的创新和精巧构思,从而赢得了无与

    伦比的声誉。自1972年创立以来,公

    司的成功源自于我们对创新、卓越和诚

    信的一贯坚持。进入21世纪,王及王一

    如既往地在本地及国际上履行最初的使

    命,成为当今时代的卓越设计师。

    王及王的独特优势,就是为客户可能需

    要的每种与建造相关的服务提供360º解

     The year 2012 heralds ONG&ONG’s

    40th year in the building industry,

    and in four decades, the firm has

    earned an unparalleled reputation for

    integrating skilled architecture, clever

    interior design, creative environmental

    branding and sensitive landscape

    design. Since its founding in 1972,

    the key to success has always been

    the company’s insistence on creativity,excellence and commitment. As

    it forges on into the 21st century,

    ONG&ONG continues to be a

    premier practice both locally and

    internationally, as the designers of our

    age.

    ONG&ONG’s unique offering is a

    360º Solution for every building-

    related service that our clients

    may require. The 360º Solution is

    essentially a three-pronged, inter-

    disciplinary approach that covers the

     various aspects of construction from

    concept design to construction. 360º

    Design + 360º Engineering + 360º

    Management are the three areas that

    form ONG&ONG’s 360º Solution.

    360º Design encompasses urban

    planning, architecture, landscape,

    interiors and environmental branding

    or graphics. 360º Engineering offers

    civil, structural, electrical, mechanical,

    fire, water and waste management

    services. 360º Management provides

    development, construction and place

    management.

     As an ISO14001-certified practice, the

    firm consistently strives to exceed clients’

    expectations. In addition to projects in

    Singapore, ONG&ONG also handles

    large-scale developments regionally,

    along with the China, Vietnam, India,

    Malaysia and USA offices. Our overseas

    offices are knowledgeable of local

    contexts, cultures and regulations, which

    allows us to understand our clients’

    needs better. To further our international

    reach, ONG&ONG has also recently set

    up offices in Indonesia, Mongolia and

    UAE.

    Founding partners, the late Mr. Ong Teng Cheong and Mrs. Ong Siew May,

    established Ong & Ong Architects

    in 1972. The firm celebrates its 40th

    anniversary in 2012, with a staff count

    of nearly 600. Going from strength to

    strength under robust and exceptional

    leadership, the organisation was

    incorporated in 1992.

    2003 and 2004 marked the years when

    it ventured into interior and landscape

    design respectively. In 2005, the first

    overseas office was set up in Vietnam,

    closely followed by China, Malaysia and

    India offices a year later.

    2007 saw ONG&ONG’s integration

     with ECP Architects International,

     while ADT and AT-ii joined in 2008. In

    that same year, the company set up

    Project Innovations to handle project

    management. For 2010, TSP Architects

    & Planners Pte Ltd joined us while KD

     Architects, interior design firm, SCA

    design and landscape consultant,

    DLQ Design joined the following year.

    ONG&ONG also welcomed new

    capabilities with the experience design

    and lighting studios.

    On the engineering front, SCEConsultants (Pte.) Ltd was amalgamated

    into Rankine&Hill, while emplus

    consulting engineers pte ltd was also

    integrated into the company. Fire safety

    management as well as waste and

     water treatment capabilities were also

    王及王建筑公司由前总统王鼎昌先生与

    夫人林秀梅女士于1972年创办。公司

    在2012年迎来40周年纪念庆典,已拥有近600名员工。凭借完善和卓越的领

    导,公司日益强大,于1992年正式注册

    成立。

    2003年和2004年,公司开始分别涉足

    室内和园林景观设计领域。2005年,第

    一家海外分公司在越南成立,紧接着在

    一年后,设立了中国、马来西亚和印度

    2007年,王及王整合了ECP Architects

    THOUGHTS FROM OUR CHAIRMAN 公司主席的管理理念

     Another year has come and gone andas we start our new financial year we are

     very excited and geared up for big things

    ahead!

    Our year-long 40th Anniversary

    celebrations began with the launch of

    our very well-received commemorative

    merchandise, a client engagement event

    and dinner & dance in July 2012 and

    other activities peppered throughout the

     year as we remember our last 40 years

     whilst looking forward to our future.

     The 40th Anniversary product line is the

    launch pad of our foray into the exciting

     world of product design. We feel that now

    is the right time for us to venture into this

    arena as we have had enough experience

    in the more traditional disciplines of

    design and want to move from being just

    a creator of space to a designer of total

    experience – to fulfill our vision statementof ‘becoming the designer of our age’.

     Another exhilarating enterprise is our

    participation in the design and building

    of a hundred-footer super luxury yacht.

     These and other products will be revealed

    as the year unfolds.

    I am heartened to say that we are getting

    international recognition for our designs,

    having won numerous awards at the Asia

    Pacific Property Awards and Perspective

     Awards whilst retaining our position as

     Top Ten in the BCI Asia ranking of firms in

    both Singapore and Vietnam.

    Shoring up our capabilities, we have

    initiated a BIM studio under the direction

    of Daniels Chandra, a BIM expert with

    nearly two decades of design experience.

     Adding to our project management

    competence are three new directors,

    Pram Chandran, Lee Way Tuck and Ben Tang - together they bring with them an

    invaluable reservoir of knowledge and

    practical know-how. Richard Teo and

    emplus integrated with Rankine&Hill and

    together are strengthening our capacity

    on the engineering front. We are also very

    proud of SCA design who joined us in the

    latter half of 2011. They have penetrated

    new markets and expanded their reach

    to more regions with the strong support

    of repeat clients whilst establishing

    relationships with new patrons.

     As we end our 2011/2012 financial year

    on a high, we look forward to scaling

    new heights and introducing innovative

    products and service offerings that are

    always ahead of the curve, anticipating

    needs you never knew you had.

    又一年来去匆匆,新的财政年度即将开

    始。对于未来重大事项,我们深感兴奋,也做足充分准备!

    为期一年的40周年庆典,先是推出广受

    欢迎的纪念产品,接着在2012年7月中

    旬举办客户交流活动及年度晚宴。其他

    活动,将在接下来一年内相续举办,让

    我们回顾一路走来的40年,也同时展望

    未来。

    40周年纪念产品,意味着步入产品设计

    炫彩缤纷世界的开端。此时此刻,我们

    已经在设计界较为传统的领域里累积足

    够经验,也正好是我们勇闯产品设计领

    域的好时机。我们想从扮演空间设计师

    的角色,转为营造完整体验的设计师,

    以实现我们‘成为当今时代的卓越设计师’的愿景。与此同时,我们将参与另

    一项让人兴奋的项目,负责设计、建造

    高达一百英尺的超级豪华游艇。而上述

    所叙成品及其他产品,将在接下来一年

    内揭晓。

    我也很高兴,我们的设计获得国际认

    可,在亚太房地产大奖和Perspective

     Awards里荣获许多奖项,并稳坐BCI亚

    洲列为新加坡及越南前十名公司的排名

    位置。

    为了加强实力,我们开创建筑信息模型

    部门,由拥有近二十年设计经验的建筑

    模型专家曾元昱带领。新上任的董事长

    Pram Chandran, 李威德和邓达华强大项目管理阵容,带来宝贵知识和实际经

    验。张教强及emplus加入Rankine&Hill而

    加强了工程方面的能力。另外,我们很

    荣幸SCA design于2011下半年期间加入

    我们。他们进军新市场,在老客户强而

    有力的支持还有同新客户建立关系的情

    况下,扩大其区域范围。

    2011/2012财政年度在另一个高峰划下

    ONG&ONG has once again been named as one of BCI Asia’s Top 10 Architecturefirms in Singapore, a yearly honour it has enjoyed consecutively since 2005.

     At the local BCA Green Mark awards, ONG&ONG won a total of four awards, one of

     which was a Gold Platinum for the National Heart Centre. Punggol Ripples as well as

    landscape projects Blossom Residences and The Rainforest Residences were also

    recipients of the Gold Plus award.

    Overseas, and in true 360º fashion, ONG&ONG’s various disciplines collectively

    garnered a total of five wins for the firm at the recent Asia Pacific Property Awards

    2012 ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur. Landscape project, Orchard Central, came

    out top, earning a prize for Best Landscape Architecture in Singapore.

    Four other projects were also highly commended, including architecture projects,

    DW-House and Bloomfield Unicorn Villa, interior design project, the American Club’s

    2nd Floor, as well as eco-friendly landscape project, Jurong Central Park McDonald’s.

    王及王再度获得BCI亚洲新加坡十大建筑设计公司奖。自2005年以来,王及王

    连续获奖,享尽荣誉。

    另外,在本地新加坡绿色建筑标志奖项

     The spirit of philanthropy is deeply

    embedded in the ONG&ONG culture,

     with particular emphasis on education

     within the architectural community.

    In 1997, the ONG&ONG Travelling

    Fellowship was established with

    the objective of allowing gifted

    undergraduates the opportunity to

    pursue knowledge and experiences

    related to built environment through

    independent travel. Three years later,

    the Ong Siew May Professorship was

    set up to pave the way for world eminent

    practitioners to lecture at the National

    University of Singapore’s Department

    of Architecture. This exchange and

    transfer of knowledge is elemental in

    grooming the architects of tomorrow.

     As part of ONG&ONG’s unceasing

    philanthropic support for local

    architectural education, the company

    is proud to be title sponsor for The

     Architecture Society – the student body

    for NUS’ School of Architecture and

    Design. This sponsorship was inked on

    11 June 2012 and will last for a period of

    five academic years.

    In addition to our unwavering

    commitment towards supporting design

    excellence, ONG&ONG has also

    established a Preceptorship Programme

     with Rice University in 2000, as well

    as Internship Prizes with UC Berkeley,

    Harvard University and Pontificia

    Universidad Javeriana in Bogota,

    Columbia.

     The object ive of 360º Review,ONG&ONG’s publication arm

    is manyfold. We want our books to

    be a go-to resource and a didactic

     voice on topics that we feel have not

    been adequately addressed. These tomes

    are not meant to be coffee table books

    filled with glossy images but serious

    reference books with a design edge.

     As the authoritative voice on areas that

     we have extensive experience in, we

     want to reach beyond the immediate

    architectural community, to a wider

    audience. To that end, our books

    are distributed globally.

     The inaugural book, ‘Conserving

    Domesticity’, authored by Ms. Lilian

    Chee, assistant professor at the

    Department of Architecture, School

    of Design and Environment, National

    University of Singapore, whose

    particular interest is in conservation and

    domesticity, is launched in 2012.

     Another t itle in our series is ‘A Decade

    of ONG&ONG Travelling Fellowship’ – a

    book commemorating and documenting

    the achievements of past recipients.

     The spir it of the ONG&ONG Travelling

    Fellowship is centred on education

     within the architectural community.

     The primary objective is to allow gifted

    undergraduates the opportunity to

    pursue the knowledge and experience

    of the built environment through

    Domesticity implicates notions of gender,

    sexuality, labour, class, ethnicity and taste.

    It draws upon the performative aspect of

    its occupants in space, and materialises

    ambitions for comfort, security, privacy and

    independence.

     The conserved domestic space is unlike the

    conserved monument. It must be flexible

    to change, intensified occupation, unusual

    habits, and robust enough to accommodate

    use and decay. It is a space marked by the

    passing of time associated with occupancy

    – cycles of moving in, starting a family,

    growing old and dying. It is also, no matter

    how temporary, a space one calls ‘home’,

    and thus, includes physical, geographical and

    mental registers related to this idea.

     What does it mean to conserve a house?

    Can conservation’s motives and domesticity’s

    purpose converge in the house’s interior?

     This volume explores such questions by

    reflecting on the after-life of several conserved

    domestic spaces.

    I am looking at images of the conserved houses by ONG & ONG, designed

    by Maria Arango and Diego Molina.

    Icanfeel the air.Icanfeelthe air that createsalife; that createsadistinct

    culture.Ican feelthe air outside, humid.Humidity coversmy body, allthe

    poresofmy skin.I canfeelthe air inside;it iscool, it givesme comfort.

    The conserved houses: old on the outside, with the character of a

    baroque exuberance of a shophouse, celebrate an identity of a place.

    Inside, it is sober, modern – accommodating the residential requirements

    of today, comfortable, convenient and beautiful. Outside, it creates

    a continuity with the character of the place. Inside, the inhabitants’

    individual tastes are absorbed by the careful introduction of new spaces

    for living. The houses are local on the outside, international on the inside;

    they induce a feeling, a certain mood for a lifestyle of a certain place, and

    a certain time.

    To live with the cultural complexities of a place is the ethos of these

    conserved houses. A culture renders identity to a place. At the same time,

    the individual must be free to exert his/her personality and quirks. The

    Janus-faced quality of this condition, true for today, is what we see in

    these works. By the character of the houses, we can tell that “this place

    is this place, that place is that place”. The houses are where life happens,

    to facilitate specific geneaologies that trace the evolution of a culture

    architectural profession.

    As we go about the everyday, as we enjoy our domestic lives, we also

    confront society’s adjustments, and modifications in order to produce

    such living conditions. This book makes that effort to record, to expose,

    and to make us understand, and open paths for understanding where we

    are, where we live, and where we will go.

    experience is unlike museumic conservation since the atmospheric relies

    on a contemporary encounter to meaningfully manifest. It revolves around

    our living, walking, sensing and changing through the spaces of our

    present, in order to bodily make sense of this other time and place.

    In the older shophouses, the open-to-sky airwell used to be a dramatic

    space, either bathed in light or drenched in rain. It was also an

    aural space where the sound of raindrops, and the songs of cicadas,

    grasshoppers and sparrows echoed. The airwell brought the outside

    in, theatricalising the exterior deep within the belly of the house. The

    outside, in the case of Singapore, is inevitably marked by its intense

    tropical climate – hot, humid, and often wet. The tropics is also a place

    where time itself is accelerated. Laundry becomes quickly mottled on

    the line, pages turn yellow, fungi decorate walls, and armies of ants

    migrate furiously upon sensing the coming of monsoon rain. It is a space

    marked by rapid cycles of excess and decay, ruination and rejuvenation.

    The notion of permanence and monumentality, so incumbent in the

    architectural tradition, are challenged by spatio-temporal rhythms ofnature in the tropics – a nature that strikes with its scorching heat,

    pounding rains, destructive dampness, and punishing droughts.

    In 55 Blair Road, the old airwell is replaced by a tall water court whose

    walls are clad in vertical aluminium slats. This cool clean composition

    provides the backdrop for an outdoor pool and a single matured

    frangipani tree, a plant species traditionally having religious significance

    in Asian culture. The large tree was specifically sourced from nearby

    Malaysia for its gnarled braches and dramatic organic form. To be

    planted within the courtyard, the entire tree had to be carefully craned

    into the shophouse.

    Perhaps taking the notion of the courtyard to its extreme, the water

    court still acts as a functional space connecting the front and rear

    portions of the house but it does not hold a canopy. This composition

    accentuates the geometric purity of the tall linear volume although it

    means that the kitchen at the rear is now physically separated from the

    has been allowing a student

    each from the undergraduate

    and graduate course to embark

    on a travel programme. This

    book is a retrospective, featuring

    13 of the past winners. It

    documents their journeys and

    reflections as well as what they

     The Singapore property market

    continued to see strong growth despite

    global uncertainties and local cooling

    measures. Buoyed by strong local

    demand, residential developments

    sprung up all over the island. ONG&ONG

    residential architecture received strongattention and numerous projects were

    successfully launched. The Singapore

    government took proactive action to

    address housing needs of the nation

    and more public housing projects

     were released for bidding. ONG&ONG

     was successful in securing three new

    projects in the first six months of 2012. In

    terms of other projects type, ONG&ONG

    gained new ground in the design of

    religious architecture. Studio 14 headed

    by Kurjanto Slamet won the mosque

    design competition for the Masjid Al-

     Ansar.

     The high number of awards testifies to

    the creative engine that ONG&ONG

    harnesses. Some notable awards are

    the SIA Architectural Award (Honorable

    Mention) for Quincy. The same project

    also won the HA+D Architecture Award

    under the hotel category. On the

    sustainability front, we won three BCA

    Green Mark Gold Plus awards for TheRainforest, Blossom Residences and

    Punggol Ripples. To crown it all, National

    Heart Centre won a Green Mark Platinum

     Award, the highest prize for achieving

    exceptional environmental management

    and architectural innovations for

    sustainability.

    Not to be outdone, ONG&ONG Interior

    Design and Landscape studios match

    the success of the architecture studios

    through winning their own respective

    awards. Interior Design team join

    architecture in sharing the honors for

    Quincy Hotel while the Landscape studio

     won Green Mark Platinum for the ground

    breaking effort of a lush green roof for

    the McDonald’s Restaurant at Jurong

    Central Park.

     The winning of awards is a significant

    team work effort that continues to

    underpin the ONG&ONG ethos. The

    360º Design Culture continues to

    achieve recognition through the breaking

    down of boundaries and enhanced

    cross-disciplinary cooperation. To

    further strengthen the 360º Philosophy

    as well as respond to the government’s

    drive for productivity, ONG&ONG set

    up the Building Information Model

    (BIM) full time team headed by Daniels

    Chandra. The BIM team will facilitate the

    implementation of BIM usage throughout

    the organisation. One of the key features

    is the setting up of a BIM room where

    staff from different disciplines can work

    together in a borderless manner.

     The Singapore architecture market

    continues to look promising despite

    the worldwide economic uncertainties.

    Continuing on the growth of last year, O&O Malaysia took up a few major works,

    namely Empire Damansara Perdana, Setia Eco Glades and Maju Infinity, among

    others. This year with Empire Damansara Perdana projected to be completed by

    October, O&O Malaysia is seeing its fuller participation as a sound competitor inMalaysia.

    Riding on this momentum, O&O Malaysia has expanded to a 45-member team while

    cementing projects in more diverse industries. Building on our current relationship

     with existing clients, we are now venturing further afield with reputable developers

    Collaboration with our office in the United

    States resulted in the project, Capital

    H. This project pushes the boundary of

     what makes a development green by

    using the latest technology and collective

    knowledge on sustainable architecture.

    Other projects like SP Eco Glades’ Sales

    Gallery further this effort by inviting expert

    green consultants to ensure each green

    element, from material to site orientation

    is carefully studied and applied.

     With these as backdrops, O&O Malaysia

     will continue on its acceleration of growth

    and to excel in design excellence.

    In general, Vietnam’s real estate markethas slowed and growth is lacklustre. On

    a nationwide scale, a few large-scale

    projects have even been suspended,

    resulting in delays.

    However, ONG&ONG Vietnam is still

    holding our ground and major clients

    such as Vietcombank, Ireka and Gamuda

    Land continue assigning projects to

    us. We are also in dialogue with local

    developers who are strategically making

    plans for potential projects in anticipation

    of an improved economy in the latter half

    of the year.

    Several significant projects have

    been awarded to our interior design

    department. We were approached to

    design several commercial podiums for

    BITEXCO, an iconic 68-storey office and

    commercial development, while Keppel

    Land has appointed us to design the

    show villa for Riveria Cove, an upmarket

    residential development.

    ONG&ONG Vietnam looks set for a year

    of optimistic, albeit moderate growth

    even as the persisting gloom hovers over

     Vietnam’s real estate sector.

    China’s property market has seen a significant slowdown due

    to government cooling measures. While developers remain

    bullish and actively seek new opportunities in 2nd and 3rd line

    cities, many developing projects remain at initial exploratory and

    negotiating processes.

    Developments, however, look bright for ONG&ONG in China.

    ONG&ONG’s flagship project in Xi‘an for Capitaland and Vanke

    is slated to complete by the end of 2012. ONG&ONG’s marked

    360º Design Solution delivers integrated solutions and provides

    architecture, interior and landscape designs for the client. Steering

    the project are Directors Lena Quek, Eddie Yang and Chester

    Goh.

    Preparation works continue across China on the business front.

    ONG&ONG has been appointed as designer for a new cultural

    and entertainment complex that spans a total of 150,000 sqm in

    Shangrao. Situated near the famously scenic Wuyishan, Shangrao

    boasts a significant population of 1.5 million people. The complex

     will soon be the perfect place for shopping and entertainment,

    and with its close proximity from the state’s media headquarters

    in Shanghai, a centralised home for many distinguished and

    promising stars.

    Designs and plans with the incorporation of hot springs within

    housing premises have been drawn out for another project in

     Xin Long Pu. The building of 2,000 dwelling units will begin in

    mid-2012, while construction works have also commenced for

    Fengxian Gas Factory in Shanghai.

     We are also pleased to announce Kenny Liu’s and David Huang’s

    official appointments as directors for the Chengdu office. Under

    their able leadership, the Chengdu office is expected to scale

    greater heights in the years to come.

    不过,王及王在中国的发展前景依然乐

    观。王及王专属的360º解决方案,为客

    户在建筑、室内及景观设计方面提供综

    合解决方案。在董事长郭宝莲的带领

    下,景观设计的最后一块拼图,同董事

    长杨家和及吴启廷负责主导的其余部

    分,拼凑出完美蓝图。

    在业务发展方面,筹备工作继续在全中

    国开展。王及王即将为上饶设计新的文

    化及娱乐商场,总面积多达15万平方

    米。上饶离风景宜人的武夷山不远,总

    人口数高达150万人。新的综合商场将

    是购物和娱乐的最新焦点,而所在地离

    国家政府在上海设立的传媒总部不远,

    因而将成为众多杰出和未来之星的交聚

    场所。

    建设在兴隆铺的温泉住宅项目,已进入设计阶段。建设2000住房单位的工程将

    在2012中旬展开。位于上海的奉贤燃气

    厂工程进展顺利,已进入建设阶段。

    与此同时,两位新任董事张在2012年四

    月份,首次接管成都办事处。他们分别

    为刘鼎康和黄子修。在他们英明的领导

    ONG&ONG’s India Office looks forwardto a year of exciting developments with

    Mumbai Office’s official launch on 1st

    May 2012, while ongoing negotiations

     with different clients expect favourable

    outcomes. The two offices are expected

    to work synergistically on several

    large scale projects, with the building

    of a shopping mall and a couple of

    residential projects in the pipeline.

     Things look upbeat in Chennai as

     well, with many notable projects under

    development. Schematic designs have

    commenced for a boutique residential

    development at Mylapore for Livia

    Spaces (Pvt) Ltd. Meanwhile, long-term

    client PS Srijan developers has sealed

    a landscape contract for Raintree at

    Coimbatore, while ongoing hotel and

    resort projects are progressing well.

     With so many projects on our plate,

    ONG&ONG India looks forward to a

     year of accelerated growth and aims to

    redefine India’s urban landscape.

    2011 was a big year for ONG&ONGUnited States studio. Having completed

    several single family residences locally

    and a number of mixed use projects

    abroad, the office bolstered ONG&ONG’s

    global presence while strengthening the

    company’s unique network organisation.

    Over the course of the year, the studio

    designed and built a series of modern

    office and residential projects throughout

    Manhattan and Brooklyn. The office

     worked with interior design directors

    Natalie Louey and Teo Boon Kiat on a

    number of sleek, minimalist renovations

    and also upgraded the residence of

    Singapore’s Ambassador to the United

    Nations with the design support of Leong

     Teng Wui. The office also enjoyed digging

    into New York’s historical roots with the

    renovation of a 1860s Landmark Carriage

    House in the West Village.

    In the first quarter of 2012, working with

    Malaysia Director Tan Kee Keat, the New

     York- Kuala Lumpur team produced

    a winning competition for a 14,350m2
