Other templates

ALM (Template Project)Previously, projects created a project named xxx_template and

then customized this project. Then, when changes occurred, they

update the xxx_template project – so new projects would have the

changes. What about the projects already created using this

project? Did you go into all these projects and did the change?

In some cases, possibly yes, but in most cases, No

Now, in ALM 11, you can create a true template project.

You would then ‘link’ the new projects (or old ones) to the

template project. Changes to the standard is implemented in the

template project and ‘pushed’ to projects using the template.

Template projects are not available for Quality Center Starter

Edition and Quality Center Enterprise Edition.

the template project and make changes (configure the template)

ALM (Template Project)

You can also include ”Extentions” – but beware, you cannot

remove them afterwards ! You can add the extentions afterwards.

ALM (Template Project)

You can also Enable Versioning. This is Versioning on the

template project and does NOT mean, projects using it is under

Version control ! You can Enable versioning at a later stage.

ALM (Template Project)

After the template is created, from the site administration you can

add template users, add extentions and link to projects …

Of course, you all know, the Requirements have a good editor ☺ !

But, did you also know, that you can customize the default for

EACH requirement type you have ! Of course, you will want to do

this customization in the template project, so you can always

comply with company standards changing (for new Requirements)

Template Workflow is executed FIRST. If you do not ‘enable’ the project

workflow, it is NOT executed. To enable, uncomment the call statement

(call Bug_New would run the workflow in project)

ALM (Template Project)

Remember, when working with workflow in a template project, you can

work with the TEMPLATE entities or with the project entities.

There is no conflict with the project entities, as the names are different.

ALM (Template Project)

To work with the project fields, use the regular names.

Do not confuse BG_USER_01 with BU_USER_TEMPLATE_01

ALM (Template Project)
