Our readersmay prefer other versions － and there are more than 300 － but the NIV wasused because of its popularity.

The NIV is currently circulated in two flavors: the version of 1986 and that of2011. These puzzles have been checked with the text of both versions.

The package contains the pure crossword puzzle for each chapter plus amodified version with a wordbank at the bottom containing all of the words anda copy of the answers for each page.

If the pure puzzle seems too difficult for the players, then the wordbank versioncan be substituted, although the educational value is diminished. The teachercan have access to the answers if that is needed.

These puzzles can be used in a class to liven up participation. Because oflimited time in a class setting, the wordbank version may be more useful. Thepuzzles are also useful in a setting where a game would be played. And ofcourse, puzzle enthusiasts don't need any special setting because they love thechallenge.

Each puzzle is based on educational objectives that could be expressed in asingle sentence.

The first 12chapters focus on the work of Peter and the chapters beginning with 13 focus onthe work of Paul.

In chapter 1, a replacement was selected for Judas. Chapter 2 is the centralevent of preaching the Resurrection for the first time and telling Jewish listenersfrom other places how to be saved. Those who responded were the churchbeing formed. Chapter 3 gives a sample of healing being done by the apostlesand chapter 4 shows the government intervention to stop these signs andwonders. The opposition brought about added solidarity among the newbelievers. Chapter 5 shows the first fraud in the newly formed church and thequick justice directly from heaven. A second attempt by the government tostop the message of the Resurrection was turned away. Chapter 6 records howa serious social problem was settled and a new class of leaders were developedand empowered. One of them, Stephen, was hauled into court in chapter 7 anddefended the Faith from Government critics. This ended his life, but began thespread of the Gospel message outside of Jerusalem to the surrounding areas.
