Rishitha 6T, Anna 6T and Annie 6U made a video about Napoléon Bonaparte and his involvement in the French revolution. Saina 5M, Mitchell 6U and Minuthi 5M created a film illustrating the trial of the French queen Marie Antoinette and her sentence to death by the guillotine. OSHClub News Schools Out! But First We PARTY! Let’s get ready to party! Due to it being the last day of Term 2 on Friday and all our OSHClub children deserving a little bit of a celebration, we will be throwing an end of term party. There will be sweet treats, dancing, games and face painting, just to name a few. If you would like to book your child/ren in for Friday, please book in for After School Care – Early Finish. Winter Drawing Competition: Last week we held an OSHClub drawing competition! We got all of our children involved from Prep all the way up to Year 6. Ideas ranged from Christmas in the snow, to snow animals and snowmen and snow-flakes galore. Our very proud winner was Kaylee in Prep, with her colourful picture of Santa in a field of snowflakes, just about to hop down someone’s chimney! Our very close runners up were, Ruhi in Grade 6 and Meadow in Grade 3. Vacation Care Reminders: Vacation Care bookings can still be made! We have one incursion running in the first week and both an incursion and excursion running in the second week. This Term the Year 3’s have been learning about community groups and have enjoyed getting to know more about the RSPCA. We have learned about how we can help our community and now we want to help the RSPCA! …. But we need your support! As the weather gets colder during winter the animals at the RSPCA need to stay warm. We are asking for donations of old blankets and towels that you may not need anymore. If you could please deliver them to Mr Verde’s room this week or during the first week of Term 3 that would be great! *No feathered doonas* Thank you!

Bonjour, Pinewood Primary School community. This term the year 3 students have been learning about clothing items in French. To celebrate a good term of great work, last week we baked ‘pommes en chemis-es’ – ‘apples in shirts’. I am hoping that all of them will now remember the word ‘chemise’ (shirt). Instead of giving you a list of words, I thought I would give you the recipe that the grade 3’s enjoyed. It could be something to do over the school holidays.

Pommes en Chemises

Ingredients: 1 puff pastry sheet 4 apples a little butter cut in small cubes brown sugar, sultanas, cinnamon 1 egg

Steps :

1. Cut 1 puff pastry sheet into 4 squares.

2. Core and peel the apples.

3. Place each apple in the centre of a pastry square and fill the hole with a little butter (bottom and top) and your choice of brown sugar, raisins, walnuts. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

4. Carefully, stretch and gather the pastry at the top of the apple. If you want, you can cut some pastry leaves and decorate your ‘pommes en chemises’.

5. Brush the top with egg wash and place it in the middle of a square of baking paper and in the

tray - also lined with baking paper. TIP : They will release a good amount of juice, so it does help to line the tray with baking pa-

per. 6. Bake at 180 ̊ for about 30-40 minutes.

Bon appétit! Bonnes vacances, Madame Ramona Vinga
