WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH!
What the Lord has done for me, I cannot say enough
What the Lord has done for me, I cannot say enough
What the Lord has done for me, I cannot say enough
For He said He could do what no man can do!
I learned this inspired song from Paul Njingo, a native of Cameroon in Africa. He has been a member of our parish and our choir for more than a couple of months now and during that time I have come to know him as a beloved disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has been a principle care giver to me since I left Jim Thorpe two weeks ago and he encourages and challenges me every day to make steady progress in my recovery. He is becoming a dear spiritual son.
I am grateful for him and the growing number of parishioners who are offering me their support through generous prayers, cards, visits, and delicious meals. And, oh, what a joy it has been to offer the Mass with you even when I have to do so in my wheel chair! My prayer and my hope is to be able to preside at Holy Mass on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I may have to do it mostly seated, but I believe that I may be able to stand for at least part of the Eucharistic Prayer. Fortunately, Fr. Gabriel, will be there as well since it is the fourth anniversary of his priestly ordination. I can never be grateful enough for his joyful service to St. Andrew’s. He has been enormously kind to me. We owe him a great debt of thanks. I visited with my doctor this week and though he told me it might take me the better part of a year to get back to “Normal”, he told me that through dedication to physical and occupational therapy I can make progress toward that goal every day.

GOD STILL
HEALS TODAY!
Catholics have always been willing to pray for people in need of healing. We’re always happy to say a prayer for someone struggling with some form of suffering. But many church members seem unaware of the spiritual gift of healing that is given to some for the benefit of others. We have such individuals in our parish and they will make themselves available in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel following the 5pm Mass on the 17th of August to pray with and over individuals in need of physical, spiritual, emotional, or relational healing.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY,
FATHER GABRIEL!
On August 15th, 2015, a young deacon by the name of Gabriel knelt before the Bishop and stood up to be a priest forever according to the Order of Melchisadek. Father, we cannot thank you enough for your generous service to the people of St. Andrew’s in the wake of Fr. Jack’s terrible accident. We hope you can continue with us for a while longer until he is able to regularly preside at Mass. There are ordination cards in the gift shop should you wish to express your prayerful gratitude.

Baptizing infants and young children has always been an important part of Catholic Tradition. So much so that over the centuries countless little ones have been baptized who grew up in families that were ill prepared to keep their promise to raise them as faithful Catholics. These “lax Catholics” are among the main sources of false and inaccurate information regarding Catholic beliefs and practices. So the overriding objective of this one session baptism prep is to give parents (and godparents who choose to attend) an accurate picture of the role this sacrament plays in the life of the church.

THE DISCIPLESHIP IMPERATIVE!
Has it occurred to you lately that there would be no Church were it not for those who answered the call of Jesus to be his Disciples? But while we all may be grateful for the work and witness of Saints like Peter, Andrew, James, John, Paul, Barnabas, Titus, Timothy, and all the rest, the truth is that Jesus is calling all of us to be his disciples so that with his help and direction we—The Church—can make a difference in the world. Before ascending into heaven, Jesus told his followers to go into the whole world To Make Disciples and to Baptize people in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. The early centuries of the church saw dynamic growth because of their obedience and the blood of Martyrs. When people saw Christians actually submitting to persecution and death because of their belief in the Resurrection of the dead, they too became disciples of Jesus. In more recent times the church has accumulated more than a billion members around the world. But how many of them live as faithful followers and disciples of Jesus? Now is the time to examine more closely our connection to Christ and the Church. Now is the time to become intentional and missionary disciples of Christ.
Young people are bailing out of the church in huge numbers in part because they don’t see a connection between “going to church” and changing a world badly in need of changing. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. LET’S DO IT!

Since ALPHA is an introduction to the basic elements of Christian belief it serves well as the first
phase of inquiry for individuals with an interest in the Catholic Church. It can be experienced as
an important step on the way to considering a deeper act of faith in Jesus Christ for those who
are seeking relief from a popular culture which promotes confusion, chaos, and division. This
entire process is aptly described as a JOURNEY OF FAITH. For those who are not presently
Catholic, ALPHA / JOF is the pathway to the church’s Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism,
Confirmation, and Eucharist. For those who are already Catholic, JOF can help broaden one’s
perspective of what it means to be an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ. Parishioners wishing
to exercise their baptismal mission to “Go Make Disciples” should spread the word about this
wonderful opportunity
