Integration of foreigners
General Information about the Republic of Moldova • The Republic of Moldova - located in South-Eastern Europe Neighbouring countries: • Romania and Ukraine. Total land area: 33,843.5 km2 Divided into 32 districts, 13 with municipalities, cities, villages and the autonomous territorial unit Gagauzia. Population: 3,553,100 residents (01/01/2016) Ethnic groups: Moldovans/Romanians, Ukrainians, Russians, Gagauzes, Bulgarians and others. Official language: Romanian Capital city: Municipality of Chisinau - 814,147 residents (on 01/01/2016). Foreigners legally residing – app. 25 000 (Russian Federation, Ukraine, Romania, Italy, Syria, Turkey, Israel, India, US etc. )

Integration activities
• Socio-cultural adaptation sessions;
• State language training courses;
• Information and counseling on how to access labour market, medical services and social protection measures;
• Guidance and professional training services to facilitate the economic integration in conjunction with the capabilities and needs of the labour market in the Republic of Moldova;
• Integration programs (only for beneficiaries of a form of protection).
• Access to social protection and social security system; Access to medical services – health insurance; Access to education; Access to housing (Accommodation Center - integration program); Financial assistance – beneficiaries of protection
General rule: integration measures are offered after the foreigner receives the resident right/permit or the form of protection. There are no no integration requirements prior to the arrival to the country )
Law on integration of foreigners (family reunification aspects)
Since 2012 a foreigner has the right to apply for integration measures
by submitting an application to the BMA (Integration Unit, One Stop Shop)
2 standard forms 1. for beneficiaries of international protection
2. for foreigners who have access to the integration measures(under Article
15 of the Law on Integration)

The mechanism provides:
Stages for including the foreigner in integration procedures;
Forwarding mechanism - the process of referring to other public authorities;
Ways of inter-institutional cooperation;
Quarterly meetings - a platform for interaction between the authorities and helps to address all aspects of
the integration process and realization of the rights of foreigners on the territory of the country;
Biannual consultations with civil society - to identify areas of intervention, actions that would
complement and contribute to the implementation of the legal framework, and ensuring the
implementation of a transparent system for all partners;
Consultations with migrant communities.

Integration center: Information, counseling, assistance, place for organizing meetings (employers, civil society, cultural events etc.), information sessions, monitoring of foreigner’s participation in integration activities etc.
