In the Catholic Church, the holy Eucharist is considered the source and summit of our faith. During this lockdown you have been denied the Eucharist, and I have been denied

my duty to feed my flock and share Communion with it. Listed below are seven graces that we have been deprived of over the past three months. May the Holy Mass be restored to the community of the Faithful. –Fr. Paul C H E L Jesus said "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; . . . he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and . . . abides in me, and I in him" (John 6:51, 54, 56). Receiving this Sacrament strengthens the bonds of charity between the communicant and Christ, and so reinforces the unity of the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ. (see CCC) S Jesus “gives us in the Eucharist the pledge of glory with him. Par-ticipation in the Holy Sacrifice identifies us with his Heart, sustains our strength along the pilgrimage of this life, makes us long for eternal life, and unites us even now to the Church in heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all the saints.” (see CCC) F The “Catechism of the Catholic Church” says “Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ increases the communicant's union with the Lord, forgives his venial sins, and preserves him from grave sins. Since receiving this sacrament strengthens the bonds of charity between the communicant and Christ, it also reinforces the unity of the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ.” H Pope Francis spoke: Let us live the Eucharist with the spirit of faith, of prayer, of forgiveness, of repentance, of communal joy, of con-cern for the needy and for the needs of so many brothers and sisters, in the certainty that the Lord will fulfil what he has promised us: eternal life. So be it!” This is our hope. (February 12, 2014) L St. John Paul II said, “The human heart…has need of light. The world needs light in the difficult quest for a peace that seems re-mote, at the beginning of a millennium overwhelmed and humiliat-ed by violence, terrorism and war. The Eucharist is light! In the Word of God constantly proclaimed, in the bread and wine that have become the Body and Blood of Christ, it is precisely he, the risen Lord, who opens minds and hearts and makes us recognize him, as he made the two disciples at Emmaus recognize him, in the breaking of the bread” (cf. Lk 24: 35). (October 2004) T Pope Francis said “Encountering Christ, entrusting ourselves to Christ, proclaiming Christ — are the pillars of our faith that are concentrated ever anew in the focal point of the Eucharist.” (May 2013) U Everyone who receives the Eucharist is united equally in Christ., Pope Benedict XVI proclaimed “Being nourished by Christ is the way not to be foreign or indifferent to the fate of the brethren, but rather to enter into the same logic of love and of the gift of the sac-rifice of the Cross; anyone who can kneel before the Eucharist, who receives the Body of the Lord, cannot but be attentive in the ordi-nary daily routine to situations unworthy of the human being; any-one who…can break his own bread with the hungry and share water with the thirsty, who can clothe the naked and visit the sick person and the prisoner (cf. Mt 25:34-36). This person will be able to see in every individual that same Lord who did not hesitate to give the whole of himself for us and for our salvation.” (September 2011)

Greeting Holy Trinity Family! I am so grateful to have spent my time with each and every one of you, as well as with Fr. Paul and the priests of the parish. I was shocked, as I’m sure you were, learning our time would be cut short due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. However, if there is one thing I’ve realized during this time is this: God is in control. Subsequently, my Priestly Ordination will now be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020. I humbly ask for your pray-ers before this momentous Sacrament, that I may be a Holy Priest. Lastly: once the church returns to normalcy, in communion with Fr. Paul, we will schedule a First Mass at Holy Trinity to celebrate with everyone this momentous cele-bration. Pray for me. Deacon Darren M. Santo Tomas

Making Those Funeral Arrangements Planning or even thinking about one’s own funeral is unpleas-ant and therefore something we tend to push far out of our minds. When the time finally comes it leaves the family stressed and overwhelmed by all the decisions they must make. You can relieve some of this stress for your loved ones by planning your Funeral Liturgy (Mass of Christian Burial). Lynn Berhalter would like to assist you in choosing the Scriptures to be read at your funeral Mass according to the archdiocesan guidelines. She can also help you choose the hymns that will add to the solemni-ty of your Mass. This is simple to do and it helps fulfill your wishes and eases your family’s burden. Make an appointment to see Lynn at the rectory to get started. Your plans will be kept on file at Holy Trinity Church and may be amended anytime you wish. Planning ahead ensures your family that the readings and music you desired are carried out and they need not worry. It is a beautiful final gesture, a gift to those who grieve. Call 201-343-5170 now and make your ap-pointment. B C H S

REPORTING ABUSE: AN UPDATE Since 2002, the Archdiocese of Newark has formalized a process of reporting sexual abuse allegations, in accordance with the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young Peo-ple, Essential Norms and a Memorandum of Understanding be-tween the state prosecutors’ offices and the NJ Dioceses. A year ago, Pope Francis issued an apostolic letter, Vos estis lux mundi, (You are the light of the world) that strengthened and formalized the process for holding bishops accountable. As part of the im-plementation of the letter here in the United States, a platform was created by an independent, third party providing a secure, confidential, and professional way to report allegations against living bishops. This service is in place to gather and relay reports of sexual misconduct involving bishops of the United States, and reports of their intentional interference in a sexual abuse investi-gation. Individuals may make a report online at www.ReportBishopAbuse.org or by calling toll free (800) 276-1562. If you wish to report any other kind of misconduct by a bishop—or sexual abuse by a priest, deacon, religious brother or sister, or layperson working for the Church—please contact the Archdiocese of Newark at (201) 407-3256. To make a report involving a bishop that pertains to sexual abuse or related misconduct, visit ReportBishopAbuse.org or call (800) 276-1562.

J esus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has

eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him (John 6:53-56).
